I honestly never thought the gap was that big anyway. Back to game though. I not sure Pikeville gift wrapped one for us. Like Ive stated earlier, both teams made mistakes. Remember, Belfry did give Pikeville a short field on a fumble in the second half. All in all, Ill take the W anyway we get it. Pikeville is a quality team and this game will go a long way in helping both teams come playoff time. This may be Pikeville's last true test until the playoffs and I believe it would fair to say they passed with flying colors.

Neither team played to their true potential. Both teams made mistakes at the wrong times. Mistakes that have to be corrected in the near future. This game came out about like I expected. I predicted Belfry in a close game and Ive stated all along that Pikeville is a good team. This game could have went either way. Im just glad it went our way.

There were quite a few people who gave them little or no chance so dont kick yourself. P-burg is improving greatly week to week and come playoff time could be real dangerous.

I guess you could have worse problems than not being able to hold onto the ball. Like having no talent, sub par coaching staff, etc. But holding onto the ball is a simple task and shouldnt be an issue at this point of the season.

Belfry's ongoing problem of not being able to hold onto the ball has reared its ugly head again. If they cant fix this problem it will be a short playoff run for the Pirates.

Its looking like crow will be the meal of choice this evening for quite a few people.

I've already stated it a few times in this thread but this WILL be a good game. FYI I'm from Belfry and will always root for the Pirates and believe in my heart they can win any game but for all those predicting a Belfry blowout, I believe you might be mistaken. Do I hope for a blowout win? Yes but I just dont see it. This Belfry team in no way compares to the last 3 years and Pikeville is without a doubt much better than previous years. That in itself says lookout for a nailbiter. Now dont get me wrong I believe this years Belfry team has more room to grow than past years and come playoff time will be a serious threat for a state championship, as will Pikeville. I honestly dont mind a little trash talking but this has gotten a little out of hand on both sides. Both schools are the pride of Pike Co. when it comes to football and academics as well. I didnt miss a Pikeville state championship in the '80s and have always rooted for them and to bad mouth them in any way would be crazy. Ask any football fan down state about either program and they will all tell you that they are classy, tradition rich programs. Again this is a game that IMO is too close to call. I say we all just wish for a good game without injuries with the best team on this night winning. Good luck to both teams.

Thanks for the info. I was just wondering if the situations were the same or worlds apart. My question would be then, if both Mercer and Harrodsburg had football programs what happened to one of their schedules. If they hurried the procedure to where it didnt hamper their move in classes then how did it affect teams involved in Harrodsburgs upcoming schedule that was apparently scratched.

I think the thread is "Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmm". It stated nothing about Mercer.

Can someone explain just how Mercer is getting to play in AA. Honest question just wanting an answer. I remember a few years back when Letcher County Central was opened they went straight into AAA. I believe they were consolidated from a AA and a A school. Just wondering why they werent allowed to play in AA that year and Mercer is now. Not trying to stir anything up just looking for an answer.

I believe Pikeville is due for a good game against Belfry. Its been awhile since the Panthers have gotten a W over the Pirates and I feel they may have their best chance in years. With that being said, I feel the difference will be how well Pikeville's line holds up this year. In years past their line has been the problem in matchups with the Pirates, but according to most Panther fans the line is much bigger and improved. I actually look for a low scoring game with Belfry winning by a slim margin. Belfry 21-20 or 21-14. Sorry Pirate fans I just dont see another blow out win this year.

Another game where the young kids gained valuable experience. May and Chapman both had a pair of TD runs. Epling added a TD run and Elkins threw for another score.

Middlesboro looks to be taking control now. I would say the halftime speech was quite the unpleasant one for the Jackets.
