  1. Good thread, IBleedMaroon. It is good to be reminded of what sports can mean to young people...and their parents...as a college education is made available by means of, in this case, girls high school basketball. As for Toledo and College of Charleston...both are fine schools, but I for one am curious about how many kids have opted to go to the smaller schools, where the college experience is oftentimes richer and more rewarding.
  2. Way to go, Laura. You've earned it with a great work ethic and the most improved play of any player in the state.
  3. I couldn't help but think of Miss Fortman when I saw the weather report this evening...2 feet of snow in Buffalo today!!
  4. Congratulations to Whitney. I've told several coaches over the course of this summer that you are a fine player and have wondered where you would play at the next level.
  5. Two observations: 1) I failed to say earlier, but congratulations to Raceland, a fine team that has endured changes and injuries. I hope the Lady Royals can get back to Richmond, but would be pleased to support you, should you get there. 2) Someone correct me if need be, but I believe only one among the list of Top 5 players has averaged a "double-double" in the 16th Region and she has done so each of the past three seasons. Congratulations, Emily.:thumb:
  6. I concur, counselor; a small caveat notwithstanding. I would rate her right behind Queen and Terry. Congratulations to Jessica.
  7. Terry in '03-'04 as Freshman: 14.6 pts, 8.8 rebs '04-'05 as Sophomore: 18.4 pts, 7.8 rebs Career varsity totals: 1727 pts, 689 rebs Queen in '03-'04 as Freshman: 24.8 pts, 13.2 rebs '04-'05 as Sophomore: 22.7 pts, 11.5 rebs Career varsity totals: 2311 pts, 1194 rebs.
  8. Scott County and Rose Hill will be participating in the Shoot For A Cure Shootout at Bellarmine University on January 6, 2007. Sadly, the two teams do not face one another, but it will still be an opportunity for all interested parties to see the three girls on the same floor.
  9. If she rebounds like her dad shoots layups, it could be a problem.
  10. FYI... '05-'06: Terry: 18.7 pts, 7.3 rebs, 1.7 asts, 2.3 stls, 3 blks. Queen: 16.7 pts, 11.3 rebs, 2.5 asts, 3.0 stls, 1.4 blks. ...will report career totals later. Keep it up girls!
  11. It has been reported that Kala Faulkner has made the Louisville basketball team as a walk-on, having already received a full academic scholarship. Congratulations to a hard working young lady.
  12. Both girls were informed on Friday that they are McDonalds All American nominees. As for Emily, her varsity totals are as follows: 2311 points, 1194 rebounds.
  13. What was it Jerry Lee Lewis sang?..."whole lotta shakin' goin on..."
  14. Emily had a considerable number of offers, but narrowed the list to MTSU, Western KY, Eastern KY, Davidson and Cincinnati...each of which had strong appeal and for differing reasons. As for MTSU...Head Coach Rick Insell, a uniquely talented staff, a wonderful community of MTSU personnel (VP of student affairs, AD, etc.) high-tech support system for the academic life of a student-athlete, the Lady Blue Raiders' players, and an opportunity to compete against Tennessee, Maryland, Duke, Georgia and Alabama in the non-conference portion of the MTSU schedule.
  15. Emily made the decision this past weekend during an official visit to MTSU to become a Lady Blue Raider.
  16. ♪♪ "I second that emotion..."♪♪ Seriously, how could you fail to mention Fortman? She is a complete player.
  17. Doubtless, Coach Thomas will schedule more...but it does make it all the more puzzling why he won't commit to playing Rose Hill. Unless he has scheduled a number of games that are not yet posted with the KHSAA, it appears there is room to get two with RHCS on the calendar. It would be good to see those two matched up twice in the regular season and possibly again in Morehead.
  18. Bummer...just when I thought things were heating up on BGP!!
  19. Could you tell me, Ram Land, why Raceland doesn't have Rose Hill on the schedule?
  20. It is puzzling why Thomas at one point was willing to play "home & home" and then backed away from the agreement. The big losers? Players & fans who would have enjoyed the Regional final rematch.
  21. My understanding is that Rowan County will not play Rose Hill...that the AD instructed Coach Thomas to schedule others in the place of RHCS.
  22. That may be the case, but my statement stands...the Lady Royals will have a fair...and maybe a very good schedule, I haven't seen it yet.
  23. I understand Rose Hill and Rowan County are scheduled to play twice during the upcoming regular season. RHCS is also set to participate in the Fifth Third Classic and has LexCath at home. Those games coupled with the rest of the competition in the 16th make for a fair schedule for RHCS.
