Former New York Mets pitcher, John Franco, is one of many supporting a bill that would ban the use of metal bats in New York City. Franco hopes it passes so that others may follow. Mike Mussina, NY Yankees pitcher, is opposing the bill. He's on the Little League member's board. And bat maker, Easton, follows Mussina's opinion on the ban. No surprise. Here's a link to the story. As it stands right now, there is nothing wrong with KCC's boys basketball. I believe that they made a good choice with Amburgey. He seems to be a good fit for the program. In the past politics has taken the program down. They have the right basketball, boys and girls, coach, the right football coach, and the right baseball coach. Most of the BOE members know where I stand. They've read my post in the past and have responded. My stand is that each and every kid that plays any sport has the same opportunity as the rest. Each program should be treated with the same respect that the others do. It hasn't in the past, but it's getting better. And I really appreciate the BOE in understanding this. IMO, there is only one change that still needs to be made. They, BOE, knows what that is. Good luck Patriots in the semi-finals! :thumb:

I am getting ready to get the 14th Region Preview going. I'm waiting for the basketball tourney to end, since some players are still playing.

Strike, I forgot to mention the coaches association website. :thumb: The scorekeeper for Knott keeps stats on a website. www.Statsandgo.com there are a few Kentucky baseball teams on there.

KHSAA doesn't keep stats. They just keep the scores from previous seasons. Soe teams may keep stats on their team's website. Not all do this. What kind of stats are you looking for? Or, which player or team are you keeping up with?

That's pretty fast. I hear sticky runs it in 13 flat.

Us parents that decided to sit in the stands intead of the car, were much worse off. I looked like the singer from the "Flock Of Seagulls" afterwards. I should have worn a hat.

The wind was terrible. And it did affect the way the balls were hit. I believe that only one player had a well hit ball. I did see a Johnson County player there, not sure if it was Haney, though.

Did any of you go? And, if so, what were your thoughts about it. We went and it was a very well run showcase. Kids got to try different positions and even played a 5-6 inning game. The wind seemed to play havoc on some. Had to be 30+ mph winds. For the price, it was very well worth it.

Baseball America puts out their own All-American list. For Revere to be put on both is saying something about this young man's talent.

The only upset that I would consider is the score. I, too was surprised to see that Buckhorn beat PCC by 30+ points. If they had beaten them by 2-5 points, I wouldn't have been surprised. Buckhorn has looked good all season. Perry Central just hasn't been the dominate team that hve in the past few years. Whatever is the problem, I'm sure it will be fixed by next season. Strike3 is right. No longer being used. Now it serves as a partial parking lot. I did use this field, for a time, for practice. I couldn't see how a HS game was ever played there.

Baseball America has Lexington Catholic ranked 17th in the nation for pre season high school. Baseball America, also has Ben Revere Pre season 2nd Team All American. Congrats to Ben. :thumb:

Tha last three post are good ones. Kids do like to hear the crowd cheer when they are playing. Baseball is a Spring sport. Most kids, and parents, are outside doing other things. Shools need to find a way to boost the attendence. Right or wrong, I know of teachers that give students extra points to go to football and/or basketball games. To cheer the team on. It doesn't happen in baseball. Heck, teacher's don't even want to show up. Baseball can be slow at times. Coaches need to make it fun for the younger kids. T-ball is fun because all the kids get to have a chance at playing and running bases in an inning. Coaches need to incorporate some of this mentallity into practice. Make sure every player is doing something instead of just standing around while the INF is being worked with. This is where it's nice to have an assistant around. And most programs don't have that luxury. While basketball and football may have 3 or even 4 assistants. Not having any leagues past Little League 11-12 is hurting the sport as well. We need to find people that are willing and able to help start 13-15 year old leagues in their community. Kentuky is a basketball and football state. Just about every kid dreams of being on those teams at UK or Louisville. With UK baseball doing what it has the past couple of years and this year, maybe it'll spark an interest.
