  1. PREACH IT, Jericho51!!!! This battle will be fought and won on and by the line.
  2. After seeing both players over the past two years, I would give the nod to Clark based on overall size, strength and speed (not to mention he has a Championship ring). After last year's JC game with Ashland, Grimm made a much more lasting impression on me than Blume. Both players excel in different styles and strengths though. There are probably still pucker marks on my bleacher seat at JC from watching Grimm take a hand off against the Tomcats a few weeks ago.
  3. I have seen enough of the JC air game to know they have one but cannot imagine it being anything other than means of keeping opponents honest on defense. Only if the Eagles find themselves behind and the clock ticking late in a game will we see them run two consecutive pass plays. Passing because you WANT TO will sometimes bring about different results when compared to passing when you HAVE TO. With the success of the JC rushing attack, these Eagles will be “grounded” this Friday.
  4. Ditto here....Im glad it wasnt an Ashland fan talking roundball already too!
  5. We need emotion to win? If I understand what you are saying, I agree it would be refreshing to see our players display a bit more "emotion" on the field...but...give me a team that is all business and taking care of business instead of one which is constantly barkin', high-fiven' and chest-bumpin'. Let's just line up, knock em down, help em up and do it again and again.
  6. For me to predict an Ashland victory this Friday would require a few too many “ifs” although I do believe this Tomcat team could pull off the upset. One of the more puzzling questions regarding the 2006 Tomcats is whether they have yet played an entire game up to their full potential. We responded well after getting stung in the season opener and displayed much character and determination in two hard fought multiple overtime victories. Perhaps those overtime wins are the best we can play, but even with a modest outlook, one couldn’t help but think we had room to improve and the corresponding ability to do it. I refuse to believe we have played our best football yet…if this team has the ability to turn it up a notch or two, now would be the perfect time. JC is a worthy opponent who has steadily separated themselves from the pack throughout the season. It will take a game unlike what Ashland has played thus far to trip up this favored Eagle team. With 24 Tomcat seniors who I hope are not quiet ready to hang up their pads (most for the remainder of their lives) this next game may turn the “Unfinished Business” tour into a “Going Out Of Business” finale.
  7. Very well stated, BB:thumb: Personally, I hope we get to paint Putnam at least one more time after tonight!
  8. As of Thursday night, the field is still very wet in parts and there are large areas void of any grass. With lots of sunshine in the forecast today, it should improve greatly by kickoff but dont expect a dry and fast playing surface.
  9. Regardless of how much work goes into preparing a game plan and getting the kids ready to compete....your last comment rings the truest. It’s simply up to the players now. From a spectator’s vantage point, it won’t take long or be difficult to see which group wants this win the most and has the desire to extend their season
  10. Thanks, FBall, for interpreting JB's comment for those of us without mindreading capabilities. Looks like Feb 3rd is when the Rams visit Anderson Gymnasium to meet the Tomcats so that may be my first exposure to the Raceland team...btw, I was in the new gym at Raceland last year and its a wonderful facility. I will be a frequent visitor to Ramland this season though...there is a little Ram on the family tree which will garner much of my attention for the next few years.
  11. LOL    Is that how you came up with your screen name?....Just taking a ladle full of alphabet soup?
  12. No problem, Fball...we are just wanting to help you keep up! :thumb:
  13. I remember that year very well, Yak...it was truly a David & Goliath moment. Boyd definately was able to sneek up on Bell that game but with our current playoff scenario, I dont think the Lions will be able to suprise JC like they did Bell......but it does make you think about the possibility.
  14. Well stated, iPapi! There is somewhat of an art as to when/where/how to use profanity. People who constantly scream tend to be heard less and less over time as opposed to those who seldom do, but at appropriate times let loose...the same applies to the well placed and timely use of profanity.
  15. Win your district first, then, that silly little detail called a regional championship...then...you may have a crack at Northern Kentucky teams. This is a great year to be an Eagle...savor each of these games because once its over, its a long way til next season. Personally, I think JC DOES have what it takes to "win it all"...but you gotta do it, THEN crow about it. Although what happened last year was long ago, it still lingers in my mind about whether or not the Eagles choke before its their time to bow out.
  16. I hear ya, cvillecat!...Those pesky TD passes just make a shambles of ball control and time of possession stats!! You guys need to work on that! :sssh: This is a special year for Raceland football and proof of that will begin in earnest this Friday night. I hope the Rams stay focused and take care of Paris early and do so without any injury. Congratulations on an outstanding season…now the fun really begins!
  17. Mason was scouted Friday night as well, although I’m not sure the Ashland staff was able to really see anything different from existing films or first hand experience. As for the upcoming game against the Royals, the Putnam mojo alone will not be enough to pull this one out. Unless these Tomcats can get mentally focused and eliminate silly mistakes, there season will come to a crashing halt this Friday night. We have seen this Tomcat team play both extremes from very solid to dreadfully uninspired football. The problem is, we have yet to see them put together four consecutive solid quarters. If I were to take last Friday’s season finale out of context, it looked like we were playing the first or second game of the season…not our tenth…just too many mistakes for a senior laden team. Although I don’t follow Mason Co as closely as Ashland, I could easily imagine they suffer from a similar type of inconsistency. A compelling example would be their narrow win over Greenup Co and perhaps the close win against Boyd. Regardless of who advances beyond this first round, it appears that seeds 2, 3 and 4 are fairly equal. Its not often Ashland, or any area squad, has 24 seniors on a team. That said, its time for these upperclassmen to step up and deliver. Senior night will remain in your memory for a long time, but the moment that final horn sounds of a playoff game, and your on the short end of the score…believe me, it will be a memory you will NEVER forget…that one lasts a lifetime. Regardless of the score or opponent, I hope our seniors play each play like it was their last. Tomcats beat Mason by 3. (Translation just for Fball….this is NOT predicting a blowout by the Cats but a narrow margin of victory...let me know if you need pictures to go along with this)
  18. "Unhandy" is right...count me in on being disappointed this game isnt being played tonight....Im anxious for kickoff, but I will be just as anxious tomorrow...and its not without having to makes a few personal adjustments to schedules as well. Perhaps both teams can find a silver lining to the situation and apply this delay into something positive for tomorrow's game.
  19. "Devastating groundwork for their integrity".... Are you serious? Being a bit dramatic there...What is unethical about postponing this game? Wanting to have a bigger gate? (Dont most AD's keep their eye on revenue?) Waiting for better weather to honor Seniors along with their parents? (How dare we want to conduct these activities in pouring rain). As you put it best in your last comment...I will consider the source. :flame:
  20. The field probably is holding some water (not standing water though) and as of late last night, the surface really was in remarkable condition. There was much effort to repair and refurbish the playing surface after the Kiwanis Bowl...so whatever happened for that game had been "fixed". Honestly, I can see this from both points of view. Most programs play on regardless of weather...but can anyone really offer a valid reason why waiting one more day is a bad idea? Assume for the moment that the weather does improve (and that IS the forecast)…would you rather not watch or play this game in dryer conditions? As a parent, I know with the festivities involved with Senior Night, waiting until tomorrow is not going to be catastrophic. Other than having one less day to prepare for the playoffs, I don’t see a problem with this. Besides…I get to go watch the Raceland v Paris game now!:thumb:
  21. Those will be .25 cent specials at Saturday morning yard sales in the county... Actually, its bitter-sweet to root against Lee Evans. He's a great role model for any team he coaches but I prefer to believe there is still a drop or two of maroon in him. Im sure if any maroon remains though, it wont show tonight.
  22. Upset is the word I would use too, Redblood....that should fit the Lions disposition immediately after the final horn.....UPSET.
