  1. You could also have your tryouts in the fall. Then your team is set before spring practice even starts. That would save most teams four days in the spring if nothing else.
  2. Boyd County has a kid that throws low 90's but for the life of me I can not think of his name right now....Starts with a G.... Sorry
  3. Yeah but what about the poor lefties? Right field line looks like 400.
  4. If he is good enough he can. It is allowed in the state of KY for junior high kids to play on the varsity team. If that is what you meant.
  5. Why does baseball continue to have to defend itself?
  6. Baseball is an outaside sport. Do you know how many outddor practices are lost every spring due to weather. To say that the team would get nothing out of ten days in the fall is truely showing your lack of understanding the game and coaching.
  7. I don't think it was that big of a deal. I thought it was kinda humorous. And if Banjo was lefthanded, you are right. The kid is going to be a good addition to most teams.
  8. The smaller schools could make it work for those atheletes that play both. It's the kids that want to devote their time to only one sport(baseball) that are being treated unfairly. I wonder what the number of kids (in KY) that go on to play college baseball is compared to football or basketball.
  9. Ok, So I did not make it to the game, but it sounds like on paper Ashland is probably better, but Russell capitalized on mistakes and won the game. So realistically, I know they only play once and that's all that counts, but if they play 10 times what is the breakout. Plaese only reply if you are being thoughtful. I really don't want to see any 10-0 either way.
  10. Well, I will say I have seen t-shirts from both Ashland and Russell showing Kiwanis bowl wins and I've seen banners and what not showing varsity wins, but the JV game win-loss record has never been posted. So I would say the JV win is little consulation, but you can definately have it.
  11. I agree Boyd should be the team to beat, but I do think the gap is narrowing in this region.
  12. Prospective Student-Athlete Tryouts With an Institution's Team A Division I or III member institution on its campus or elsewhere, is not permitted to conduct (or have conducted on its behalf) any physical activity (e.g., practice session or test/tryout) at which one or more prospects reveal, demonstrate or display their athletics abilities in any sport. THat is straight from http://www.ncaa.org. It goes on to say only Division II schools under certain instances may have a kid "try-out"
  13. I know during camps and showcases. I didn't know you could through for a coach one on one. I guess that would be considered a official visit?
  14. Austin Taylor (Russell) - Upper Iowa Univ (DII) Trey Edwards (Russell) - Alice Lloyd (NAIA) Adam Clark (Ashland) - Murray State (D1) Brandon Rosen (Boyd Co) - Centre College (NAIA)
  15. There are other issues that attribute to County schools sometimes having weaker teams. Some kids ride school buses over an hour one way to get to the county school. So getting a ride home after football practice might not be real easy. Or maybe they have to go home and help with the farm. Sometimes things are different for the County boys. City schools are more convienent to their students.
  16. what impact if any does this have in Basketball? None that I can tell? if there were any merit to this, wouldn't it also be true for the other sports?
  17. So they way I understand this then, If you don't live boyle County, you can't go to Boyle County? Say a 4th grader from Harrodsburg wants to go to Boyle County Elementary. Can he?
  18. Almost all of those schools mentioned are 2A and 1A. And you want to make them 5A. That is crazy. I'm not informed on the open enrollment thing, but that still doesn't change the fact that these schools have less than 900 students at them. Private schools have open enrollment.
  19. Guru, I tried to go to the thread you referenced, but was told I do not have permissions. Can I have superuser authority? Just kidding. That's an old unix thing.
