To me....your entire post wreaks of "give them all a trophy"....I'm not cool with it in any sport. Earn your playoff sport, regardless of class, sport, etc.....otherwise, we are "dumbing down" the system.

The only real fix is to cut the amount of teams allowed in, in half. That would cripple our district as X and Manual would be out, and both are viable title contenders.

I'm not sure most of our regulars have gone anywhere....we were on a bye this week.....

No sense going anywhere....season hasn't gone the way I wanted, but alas, the future is awfully bright.....I don't want to let this one slip away, we could go on a crazy run.

^ I have been around football most of my life....played at a "good" high school, played at WKU, and coached under some great coaches. I have seen good, bad, and average football.

Using various websites, it's quite easy to see where certain kids are going to play ball..

At this point I can concede BG, and a shaky Male or HHS....that's really it....in about 4 weeks we have a good shot at #2....don't imagine we can get to #1.

If anyone wants to go to those national boards.....it was the "perception" of the majority of posters on there, and their moderators...that Don Bosco and Trinity were the best in the land......

^ Hmm...history, and the VERY NEAR future disagree with the last part of your statement....more so than any one that doesn't have feathers. That being said, no one said anything about BG, it was about McCallie.....I really wish you'd follow the typed words a little more closely...this is becoming quite the trend with you.

I think that I have done a very good job of keeping the ole "chin up" through this year....I looked back at our schedule, again last night, and other than Colerain and Male, we could have or should have won the other two....but alas, we didn't. In regards to your questions: 1 - BG doesn't "need" to do anything. You act as if I don't like the Purples. In fact, when I played football at WKU, some of my teammates were alums from BGHS, and we spent a bunch of time over there, watching them. Heck, I lived on Westen Street, directly behind BGHS. I would like them to dominate, particularly the teams from other states, because it indeed, does add value to our football in this state. Just as when X, Trinity, HHS, or any other HS beats an out of state school. 2 - Regarding football in this state, being down....maybe it is because "some" of the top teams aren't dominating as they have in the very recent past, maybe it's because teams like Scott County and Simon Kenton walked through the regular season. You see, in the past couple of decades there was parity and skill....now I see more parity than skill. There used to be dog fights in all the classes.....that rarely happens now. 3 - Overall, I really feel that KY football was very good, as a whole, in the 90's....there was a lot of parity, every game meant something. With the 6 class system 99% of the teams make the playoffs....that doesn't help anyone get better. When I played there were amazing teams throughout the state. Some school systems screwed it up for the kids, I am not really sure what happened here in Louisville. ...clearly, because we aren't #1 in the state, this year, that doesn't mean the state is down as a whole. We have been the torch bearer for this state, just as, in the past, Highlands has, X has, Danville has, Manual (way back), etc......this is BG's year. Someone has to carry the banner for our state. Winning state is the goal, but with that, can come some fun national attention. you clearly don't visit enough message boards with people from varying states, otherwise, you would find out, that yes, people in Indiana, TN, OH, care about what's going on in KY, and hoping they're better....heck even LA, GA, FL, and NJ get in the discussion as well.
