  1. All the commercial does to me is make me hungry, lol. Actually most food commercials I turn off as quick as I can so I don't run out and eat at that place. lol
  2. I'll just say this. If I had a son who was gay, or a daugther who was a lesbian, I don't think it will effect me much at all. My son will still be my son, my duaghter will still be my daughter. But if my son told me he wanted to be a female, or my daughter wanted to be a male, I can see where I'll be losing a son or daughter. But then I'll remember, they are not mine to begin with, that God entrusted me to raise them and to love them. Out of all things, what is God? God is love! This brings up what Clyde mentioned, the parents feeling embarrassed, ashamed that they did not do a good job and that people will judge them. Some parents will feel that they left God down, which is a shame, as what are we told is the greatest commandment? As a parent, or anyone else for that matter, you do not have the right to tell someone they are going to hell! For whatever reason it's not anyone's right to do this. When we are told about judging people, the Bible doesn't really mean in regular day things, the Bible is talking about judging people on where they will spend eternity. I amy disagree with someone 100% on something they they are doing, but I'll never tell thhem that they will go to hell, unless we are joking about soemthing, then it's not really passing judgement. When her mother kept telling her that "God doesn't make mistakes". I agree, He doesn't, but please explain down's syndrome and cerebral palsy, or any other, for lack of finding the right word, "defect". Adding the mother saying this, and the going to hell part, she is putting the kid into a corner, now adding shaming the kid to a point to where she feels no matter what she does, she is going to go to hell. Wrong! As much as it may confuse me, I would tell my kid that I still love them no matter what, and what is even more important is that God still loves them! That they, like each and everyone of us, are special and the God has a plan for them as well. I would also tell them that regaurdless of what anyone says, we are all sinners, and that no one has the right to tell us our sins are greater than theirs and/or that they are going to hell. I would take the approach in what Pope Francis said over a year ago "who am I to judge"? Now someone may say that I am not in this parents shoes, correct, but I do know how I treat people, and that I would treat people the way God would want me to. As far as the suicide part, most, if not all people who commit suicide have a mental illness such as depression, God isn't going to judge them on an illness, does he judge people for having cancer or whatever? If they didn't have depression, they most likely would not have killed themselves. Same with this kid. And I'lll say again, the real issue here is depression and how people view it. you can have almost any other defect and no one will really look at you in a weird way, but when you have a mental illness a lot of people think very different about them, which is a sad reality. I really don't think anyone would ever blame the truck driver. It's sad that the truck driver had to witness it as well as run over the kid. But, I see the point, the kid wanted it over, and wanted it over quick. But again, prayers for the kid's soul, the family and friends, as well as for the truck driver.
  3. Yes, ever time I see that commercial I look at him in a way to judge how he looks, is he attractive? Unattractive? Looks good or bad? I'm sorry but I don't judge people like that, especially guys
  4. A little more than a week away and I'm not sure about this trip. I'll be flying standby on a companion pass and the flights from Tokyo to Manila are over sold. Business Elite looks good, and my priority will be high, and with a hire date that has me no lower than #2 on the list. But even with the flight being over sold in coach, they are still selling tickets for coach. So It may be close. Then I have to worry about this tooth that just chipped and I think part of a filling came out too. Its driving me crazy but I think I'll try to wait a few weeks to get it worked on. As I hate going to the dentists, they all scare the heck out of me, lol
  5. Can we finally put to rest any future chance of this team doing anything as long as Marvin is here? Yes, I want them to win but I am living in reality, which is why I never get up a lot on them, if they would win? Great! If not? Same old Bengals. I find it hilarious that people ALWAYS want to make excuses for them, it's always this or that, or something else. Some people always want to make excuses and always say "next year this or next year that". Instead of realizing that Marvin is horrible, And there are a lot of other issues we all know about. It doesn't matter who was injured, every team has injuries. The injury excuse is the latest in a long line of excuses. If it wasn't for injuries it would be something else, such as the worse clock management you will ever see in football. The team and organization is horrible! Some may not agree, but until the Bengals can win just one playoff game, The above is 100% correct!
  6. I'm not buying the parents story. That's all it is to me, a story. The mother didn't know what she wanted to be called? Find that very hard to believe. I saw her Tumblr account, I didn't see anything pornographic images, of course I wasn't there looking for them in the first place, as I was reading what she had wrote. But you can't isolate someone from all of society for months and not expect them to get depressed, and if they are already depressed like she was, I can see where the depression will be at a very dangerous level. And it was the parents who demanded that the Tumblr page be taken down, why? Because the kid blamed the parents. From what I read, and not the "story" of the parent, The parents not only took her to a Christian therapist, I guess to "pray the gay away" the kid was on three times the highest amount of Prozac someone that age should be on for someone with depression. 60mg Vs 20mg is a heck of a lot. Plus, what is one of the side effects of Prozac? There you have some of the issue. To me, if the 20mg is widely accepted, then 60mg is almost a criminal act! What I read, the parents not only made it very difficult for her, a lot of the physical pain was from the psychological pain they put her through. Telling her over and over that she will "never be a real female", and "what are you going to do? have sex (it was another word) with guys now?" All over and over. According to what I heard, her parents started to punish her when she came out to people at school, and then also took her out of public school. Again, this puts a hole in the story about the isolation, it wasn't as much about some possible things on the internet, as much as it was about the image of the parents. But that was a year ago, a lot of time passed between then and last week. I think Clyde said it, but I agree that the religious issue was secondary to the parents, they were more worried about what everyone would think of them instead of what was best for their kid. I also think that the mother needs to take the route of the father, and just keep quiet.
  7. How are Louisville and Lexington "Towns"?
  8. There are already laws on the books. You can videotape officers as long as you are not interfering with their job. Being a good distance away is a start, how far away? That's debatable, but just don't be up in their face or screaming and yelling at them. Let them do their job and you just silently tape away and most likely you will have no issues. I have seen people video tape officers during stops or arrest and a few times the officer starts a polite conversation with the one taping. Then we have laws about carrying. If I walked into a place and purposely lifted up my shirt or jacket to show my gun, that could be seen as a threating act. If someone does that to an officer, or in a place such as a bank, the person should expect to get blown away. I would consider what this guy did as a felony.
  9. As I said before, the parents wouldn't pay attention to the real and important issue. The kid was on 60mg or Prozac a day, when the highest recommended dose for someone that age is only 20mg. I agree with InItToWinIt, the lighting thing was nice and touching, I agree they should soon light up the sign in some way as for all suicide victims and families. I think it was about half of all trangenders attempt suicide, also many gay and even straight teens attempt suicide, and it's not only teens who need the help. It's a very good cause to draw awareness to.
  10. I cannot disagree enough about this. No one knows what the other person is going through, the saying "Until you walk a mile in someone else's shoes" applies here. I will say that the other people are the selfish ones, they are not going through that other persons pain, they have no idea how hard some of these people have it. What about a DNR order? Isn't that about the same thing? You are refusing to be resuscitated and given a chance to continue to live?
  11. I agree with VOR that some are going overboard. To me is just shows that OSU had a tremendous line of QB's and that their 3rd stringer is possibly going to make some NFL team very happy. If it wasn't for the first two QB's issues, would OSU have won? Or even gotten to that game? We will never know, but it did give the 3rd stringer the opportunity to shine, what would have happened to him if he remained the 3rd string QB?
  12. Well, The one thing that sticks out and that I like about her, is that she is a huge fan and propping up her team, BUT not once did she say anything against another team, so did not trash anyone. Unlike on BGP where it took NCF about .045 seconds after the thread final was created to trash Bama and the SEC. Give me more Phyllis. and I don't care what team that the person roots for.
  13. As an SEC fan, I am glad that the Big 12 messed up and didn't declare one champion, which possibly could have left OSU out. They won when it counted and deserve to be in the game next week.
  14. And you always wonder why people give you so much crap on here? Come on! You watch enough football, at least HS football, one would think you would know better, and you talk about SEC fans? LOL! First, today, you went on and on and on about the Auburn lost to Wisconsin, which was a good game! But you mistakenly said it was the worse game that Wisconsin played all year? As others mentioned, then you never watched Wisconsin at all this year! Now, you say OSU played poorly and still won? LOL. I don't see anyone giving you any slack anytime soon on here. More talented and strong is what you are going with? So OSU can't beat anyone who has more talent? It always amuses me when people say that a team who their team beat was "overrated" It takes away from the accomplishment of your team. If I was playing/coaching Vs a #1 team and won, I would be saying we beat the best team in the country, we beat the strongest team, we were able to win! That sounds a lot better than the only way you won was the other team was overrated, and/or wasn't as strong or talented. I will say this, I have never liked OSU! But my like for FSU is a lot less, so today wasn't bad day for me. See you in the next SEC football or basketball thread, as we all know you hate every SEC team waiting for them to lose a game. The game tonight was a good game, we had two good games today, as a real fan, we appreciate that!
  15. Most of FSU showed lack of character and no class. I'm even more happy that they got destroyed! I don't like WJ but at least he showed class after the game!
  16. So much for "the war chant" and FSU's D stepping it up! Lol
  17. I decide not to do anything tonight. Last year I spent it at the place I work at in Clifton next to UC, and had a good time. 3 and 5 years ago I spent it in Bucharest Romania. 4 years ago in Moscow. They really do it up right in Bucharest and Moscow.
  18. Again, as GT pointed out, it was the Big 12 that doomed their own teams, not the NCAA. There were tie breakers that they could have used, the Big 12 for some reason decided not to use them and declared them co-champions. Also, this is the first year of any playoff system, it's better than what we had previously, and they will change it to about 8 teams soon enough.
