  1. I don't think bell was bashing him. He has said some good things about him in the past. He is just from Bell Co. and it's hard to show all love for a mboro guy. I do think that he knows that if Lville is asking him to walk on, other d1's may ask him to take a scholly. I don't think the choices are either LMU or L,ville. there too many places in between.
  2. looking at the other thread, they better ask Miller
  3. 1. Patrick Sparks 6' 2. Ravi Moss ..... walk on 3. I don't see him playing in the Big East. Jim Shue doesn't see him playing in the Big East. Rick Pitino does............. But what does he know? 4. Give the guy his props. They ask him to come visit. What's he going to do, say no! Who else has been ask from the mountains.
  4. how tall is Patrick Sparks? Why would they call him up?
  5. He just broke the record for the most 3's made in a career. Rick has always wanted shooters and has been able to teach them good defense.
  6. This is true, but things are changing. Colleges are now understanding that you still have to have someone who can put the ball in the whole. A perfect example is Chris Loften. He was considered somewhat slow and his defense was in question. They have improved his defensive ability and his shooting is still there. In contrast, a kid who comes in and is a terror on defense but cannot shoot will most likely end his college career in the same way. He may improve his shooting, but he will not become a prolific shooter. Rondo may be an example of this. My point is that every player has weaknesses. For too long colleges have chose to shy away from shooters who could not play defense. Now they are paying the price, HOPEING from game to game that someone will get on a hot streak. When Lee Humpreys shoots we always expect the ball to go in. When Loften shoots we expect the ball to go in. When Garcia was at Lville, we knew the ball was going in. Now, most colleges live on a wing and a prayer hopeing that one of there super defenders will get lucky and make a few shots.
  7. here's what the site says, PREPHOOPS Note: Rick Bolus player rankings are based on college potential and a player can move up or down in rankings over a period of time.
  8. Here's the link. opinions? http://www.angelfire.com/ky/prephoops/0506/Feb06BolusKYBoys.html
  9. no prob............. I've noticed the same thing about people's posts. Without voice inflections, gestures and mannerisms, it is hard to know intent. That's why I did try to show mine with the smileys. You're the last person, I would want to get on my bad side. I'm afraid in a war of words with you............. I would be an unarmed man.
  10. It's just a joke...... as in any profession, there are good ones and bad ones and as every job has it's thankless moments.
  11. I really think there's only three 1. blind 2. unwilling to admit that you're ever wrong 3. willing to make decisions without any accountability
  12. Props to Miller ...... major accomplishment ..... According to KHSAA, he's doing it a 42%. If I remember right, that's more than Patrick Sparks, Todd Tackett and Ty Rogers.
  13. Is this the reason that you made the poll? Is it that your really interested or is it that you want to set up a poll that gives you the answer that you want? I would think that if some ppl think that he is a point and some doesn't, that would be a positive for what all that he is capable of doing.
  14. That one is easy, especially if Miller is third in the state in ft% as someone said in the other thread.
  15. ok, If I need a shooting guard I'm going with Miller. If I need a point guard I'm going with Profitt. Does that help? :thumb:
  16. Two different players at two different positions. Profitt is a true point guard. Miller is a shooting guard who runs the point occasionally to get his shot off. I can't vote on this one
  17. Don't mean to take sides but, Dang, 13th analyst, you're pretty good! Lawyer? Accountant? KHSAA employee? Sports Writer? I don't know, but definitely didn't just fall off the turnip wagon.
  18. Jags swat Yellowjackets By Peter W. Zubaty, Sports Writer Nick Shannon sank a pair of free throws after rebounding a last-ditch Middlesboro three-point attempt with less than a second to play, lifting North Laurel to an 83-78 win Tuesday. The Jaguars had to endure a 34-point outburst by senior guard Stuart Miller and a smoking-hot first half shooting (64 percent) to finally overcome the upset-minded YellowJackets, who had lost six straight going into the game. North Laurel senior forward Justin Howard drew the unenviable task of trying to slow down Miller. “That's the toughest player I've ever had to guard,” Howard said. “He can pull from anywhere and go off the dribble.” But, Howard said, “one player ain't going to beat you. (The goal was to) pressure him into missing some shots.” In all, Miller - a career 2,000-point scorer and one of the top three-point shooters in Kentucky history - hit 11 of 22 shots from the field, including seven of 17 from outside the arc, and all five of his free throws. “He made some big-time shots,” Jags coach Jim Conway said. “I'm just happy to get out with a win.” He didn't have an opportunity to take the last shot for the Jackets, however, as the Jags double-teamed Miller over the final 20 seconds, forcing Miller to dish off to Daniel Griffin to take the shot to try to tie the game at 81. Griffin had already hit five three-pointers of his own in the game, but his attempt rimmed off and into the arms of Shannon. “We shot the ball pretty well,” said Middlesboro coach Bill Jones. “We got a pretty good shot there at the end.” Middlesboro (3-12) hit 14-of-22 and raced out to leads as large as 11 in the first half, but the Jags scored the last four points of the half to go into the locker room down 39-33. “They shot lights-out,” Conway said. “I was concerned.” Still, the Jags shot well in the first half in their own right, hitting 15-of-31 (48 percent). But the Middlesboro zone posed problems at times as the Jags seemed content to chuck it from behind the arc, missing 12-of-15 threes in the first half. “We just got out here and started passing, but didn't penetrate,” point guard Shanade Allen said. In the second half the Jags came around and played to their strengths, as seniors Allen and Billy Carson attacked the basket with a vengeance. The third quarter saw Allen and Carson score nine points apiece to lead North from a six-point deficit to a four-point lead. We have to do a good job penetrating the seams and using our quickness,” Conway said. “I'm just glad they came to their senses in the second half.” In all, the Jaguars torched the nets to the tune of 64 percent in the second half to improve to 55 percent overall. They missed only three shots in the third quarter while pulling ahead. Middlesboro wasn't far behind, hitting 52 percent. They hit 13-of-29 three-pointers (45 percent), but hit only one of six in the pivotal third quarter. Carson finished with 24 and Allen had 23 to lead North. They scored 15 apiece after halftime. The Jaguars also got a 13-point, nine-rebound effort from Shawn Asher, who led his team to a dominant 31-13 advantage on the glass. Howard added 14. The Jaguars were at home for the first time in more than a month. “It's nice to see this green and blue floor again, and wear our new white uniforms,” Howard said.

  21. Does Miller, Allen, and Profitt have a chance to play for a college team? If so, what level. Can each be taught to overcome their weaknessess? In other words, what are their potential?
  22. to say that he is not as good is understandable. To say that he doesn't play defense and turns the ball over too much and doesn't hustle is really going from the realm of reality to some kind of animosity. EVERY player takes ill advised shots. EVERY player has weaknesses in their game. Some can't shoot the 3. some can't shoot period. Some can't handle the ball and some aren't the greatest defenders. Even Mayo has his weaknesses. Miller is more than a good shooter, but he has his weaknesses. I just don't think Profitt and Miller are the same type of player. I think Allen and Profitt are more comparable. As far as competition, I read this fall where Miller played for the Tennessee Travelers last summer. Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but that's pretty good competition.
