Obviously, Mac is a little high strung to begin with. Regardless as to whether or not the call went in his favor, the technical foul was entirely a wash...no damage done as both free throws were missed.

and now for the "rest of the story"... Yes Mac got Teed up, but here's what happened: 1. Harrison down three with the ball, less than a minute to play. 2. very questionable illegal screen called against HC while Faulkner had the ball out front, she was gonna be wide open for a possible tieing 3. 3. Player control foul, Paris to inbound the ball 4. Mac earns his T. 5. Paris misses both FTs. 6. Paris called for a foul prior to inbounding the ball after the technical. 7. HC misses both free throws, could have pulled to within 1. The point? The technical called on Whitaker had no impact whotsoever on the final outcome. Paris made plays at crucial times, HC did not. Paris WON the game more so than HC LOST it. Good luck to the Lady Hounds on Monday.

The game should be a classic. The game will be determined by officiating. If referees call it close, that will benefit Pendleton Co due to the fact that Pendleton County is such a tremendous foul shooting team. However, if the referrees let them play, that will benefit Clark County. Regional tourney games are traditionally not called very tight and they let the teams play.

I think Miller is undersize

no question that Elrod is an outstanding player and could start for any team in the 10th Region. However, he really can't create any offense for himself. He is a recipient of dribble drive penetration from Mains for the most part and spots up well against zones. Not a slam on him at all just shouldn't be considered "the best all around" player in the region...a really good player that everyone would like to have on their side for sure.

there is a good chance of a sellout. It will be a girl/boy doubleheader on Tuesday night. First game at 6:30 will be Deming vs. Nicholas Co. (girls) Harrison vs. Pendleton to follow at 8:15 or so. Look for the PC faithful to arrive really early...they will take care of at least half of the gym. I would hope the other three schools could combine to fill the rest.

Harrison County coulda, shoulda beat Mason Co. the other night. I know the Royals were without their point guard, and that do make a diff. But the T-Breds missed a half dozen or so layups in the third and fourth quarter and were mizerable from the foul stripe...made 4 or 5 of 16 for the game and were 1 for 8 in the second half. If they take care of those two things, they prolly beat the Royals and the Cards back-to-back. Most likely won't make a difference against PC in the District though...those guys are loaded and play well together.

I am as much a traditionalist as the next person, but I am curious about the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference that most of the schools in Campbell, Boone and Kenton participate in. I know that most of those schools are, and always have been, in the ninth region. However, several of those schools are now in other regions...such as Campbell Co., Brossart, Silver Grove, Scott, Simon Kenton, etc... It seems to me that those schools would want to have the flexibility to play more schools in their regions and that being members of the NKAC hampers that flexibility. I know those schools are in a tough spot, but was just wondering... what are the advantages of membership in the NKAC? Not passing judgement at all, but with the regular season limited to 24 games, and with mandatory conference scheduling taking up 8-10 of those slots, plus maybe some districts are seeding and that takes up 3-6 more games, doesn't leave a lot of spots open in the old schedule.

Not sure about the lag time on the Cantrell Ratings...for example, did last Friday and Saturday games count in the latest ratings? They beat Scott on Friday and Harrison on Saturday, but not sure if those wins were accounted for in the latest ratings. Anybody know for sure what the "deadline" is for games and their inclusion in his ratings on a week-by-week basis?

Team schedules need to be taken into consideration. Harrison's schedule has been unbelievable. They have beaten 2 teams in the top 25 in the state. Tates Creek and Brossart. Don't be surprised if the Thorobreds don't make some noise if they get a little luck!!!

Why would Pendleton Co. not vote to seed in the district??? You might want to put some thought into it... Future must not look very bright....

If you pay close attention to how Harrison County's games have gone this year, they have played a really difficult schedule and have "been in" every game for a good portion of every game, even the ones they have lost by wide margins. Against Lafayette, Mad. Central, Carver High, and BB the first time, the Breds have played anywhere from one half to three quarters on even terms with all of them, but self-destructed after that. The Breds aren't that bad at all.

I agree with Mustang. I believe that BB does things by the book and have done a great job over the years in establishing one of the top "programs" in the region, and they have done it without a hint of corruption. We in the public sector are probably a bit jealous of the success that private schools have attained in the recent past. We perceive them as being haughty and elitist, and that is not true at all in most cases. There are some private school supporters who are guilty of being over the top, but there as many in the public sector who are just as guilty. I think all of us on BGP are generally proud of the school we attended and are willing to stand up for the old alma mater. All the arguments about advantages and disadvantages that privates and publics have over each other are becoming somewhat stale...very few original comments any more. Same old arguments on both sides...I'm tired of it.

Back to the original thread, it appears Harrison County controlled the first half (leading 25-21) and things went south in the second half. Harrison must have played well in the first half and poorly in the second half, or is it that BB played poorly in the first half and well in the second half, or option three, a combination of the two. I believe Harrison Co. could be a threat as the season moves forward and they continue to improve. One of HC's better players (Mullins) did not play in the game on Thursday night as he was sick and stayed home. Had he been healthy and available, perhaps the game would not have gotten out of hand in the second half...of course, had I picked the right six lottery numbers, I would have won the Powerball several times also. Of course, every team should improve as the season wears on.

I think by 10 pts. Marshall County is really good too...probably better than Harrison County...The big kid for MC is really good and they have a nice soph. guard too.

Harrison County won its first three games and took second place in the Beach Blowout Tournament at Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., losing the championship game to an extremely talented Carver High School (Ala.), 60-32. This was a 16-team tournament that included two other Kentucky teams. Fairdale lost in the first round and Marshall County lost in the semifinals. I think Fairdale won the consolation barcket and Marshall Co. won the third place game. Harrison County won easily over Pace (Fla.) in the first round, then upset tourney host Ft. Walton Beach in the second round. In the semis, Harrison County beat a talented Pine Ridge (Fla.) squad and then ran out of gas against Carver. Breds trailed 12-10 after one, 31-21 at halftime, and then in the second half had nothing left. A very good tournament with an extremely talented field.
