Voluntary or involuntary turnover?

Rocks win on the road Monday evening and move to 2-0 in District action. A busy week for Trinity - Ballard on Wednesday, Waggener on Friday, at Henderson County on Saturday.

Word is an Achilles issue.

Rocks continue to improve. This was J Johnson’s 4th game back. Earlier this week they beat Eastern by 14 (62-48). They remain a work in progress.

You might know some of those folks not confident in the direction of the football program in 2022, two years post Beatty. One and 1/2 years post Szabo, the basketball program is working through transition and ups/downs. Let’s take a look: 1. The Basketball Rocks won the 7th Region in 2024, and finished in the final 8 at Rupp in spite of losing their best player (Vasser) to injury early in their Sweet 16 first game at Rupp. Last year, 2025, the team lost in the 7th Region championship game. 2. This year, they have two outstanding freshman (Jackson and Powers) who have not played one second in a freshman game. Powers has been out so far this year with a back injury and Jackson has played significant varsity minutes. Add those 2 guys to their freshman class and that is a strong class. 3. Junior Garrison Gilvin will be an all 7th Region player this year. A very talented player. There are 4 or 5 other juniors and sophomore’s that play major varsity minutes along side Gilvin gaining good experience. 4. Senior Jayden Johnson will hopefully be ruled eligible any day and will be a huge addition to this roster. 5. Without Johnson and Powers so far all season, and with 6’6” senior Horneck and 6’2” senior Cosby missing several games due to injury, Trinity has defeated top 20 teams in Grayson County and Seneca, and has played very competitive games in close losses to Madison Central, Jeffersontown, Lima Senior and Manual. I think the “direction of the program” will be fine.

In 2026 Coach Cobb enters his 13th year on the Trinity sideline. He has been a major part of 8 state championships (5 as defensive coordinator and 3 as head coach). If the upcoming season is indeed his final year before retirement, Rock Nation has been blessed to have this man be such an important part of Trinity Football success.

And that is a good thing? Have you seen how he acts at basketball games and how he tweets?

Yes. And Trinity played tonight without Senior starter Xavier Cosby (wrist) and they are also waiting on the KHSAA to rule on eligibility for Senior Jayden Johnson.

If they modify/improve RPI to include true Strength of Schedule (not the current opponents record and opponents, opponents record - a team could have mediocre opponents who in turn play less than mediocre other opponents), than I could support expanded use of RPI.

No. Put yourself in Trinity’s shoes. They are viewed at the very top of KHSAA football. 30 state championships. By playing a lower class team, 3 classes lower, based in their own town, Trinity has nothing to gain and everything to lose. Win by a ton and the critics say “of course, why play CAL”. Win by a few and the critics say “wow, what is wrong with Trinity”. Lose and it is seen as a big blow to Trinity and a big gain for CAL, when both schools are competing for enrollment in the same town. There is simply too much to lose and too little to gain. Trinity needs no more validation and does not yearn for a stronger reputation of high school football excellence. Maybe CAL feels those needs. And, the Trinity schedule is already widely viewed as the most competitive in the state. Playing top tier schools in other states, any of which would be seen year in and year out as a top 5 ranked team in Kentucky 6A. The type teams that cause the Rocks to face top talent, top coaching and O line and D lines that are big, fast and physical. Even though those games are not helpful for RPI purposes, they are extremely helpful more many other reasons. If I was scheduling for Trinity, a game with CAL would not happen and both teams would continue to have success on different paths.

Maybe X but don’t hold your breath on Trinity. Nothing to gain for the Rocks what so ever.

Rocks have also been missing their starting point guard for last 2-3 weeks with an injury. They remain a work in progress vs a very challenging schedule.

No. Jayden has reenrolled at Trinity and can practice. However, the KHSAA must approve the transfer back to Trinity before he can play in a game.

Rocks defense once again tough as nails in a home win Saturday night.

When the winning point differential is 68 points in a holiday tournament that has supposed competitive teams invited, I doubt either school nor the tournament organizers are chomping at the bit to post stats from this game.

They botched the announcement of Coach Wallace’s final season. How well will they do in announcing Landis as the new guy?

I feel that Male is playing a more up tempo, defensive and effective style of basketball without Edelen. Addition by subtraction.
