If this award is voted on because the player is the best player, anyone other than Maddie Scherr is crazy. There are some tremendous players on the list. Toller, Jenks, Calhoun but Scherr is best player period.

LaBordeaux is a great player. She will be really good against Dixie if Lawson doesn’t play. With that being said Dixies strength is their guards and not sure Lloyd’s guards can hang with them. I foresee many turnovers that turn into run out layups.

Glad I could be of service to you! Do I think HC will beat them? No! That is a very quick and emphatic no also. But girls b-ball is girls b-ball and crazy things happen. But the style that NDA plays they focus on defense first, and grind out wins. Low scoring does provide opportunities for teams to hang around right?

I agree with most of this but think it is still girls basketball and many things can happen. Ryle is clear cut number one. I think most nights they are double digits better than highlands also. Senior night always does weird things to teams. Dixie is struggling. According to KHSAA feed they lost to Boone last night. Great win for Boone but worse loss for Dixie. Dixie does get one seed though so they have to beat Villa or Lloyd to make it to the region. I think Ludlow makes it two years in a row though knocking off St Henry to make it to region. Holy cross is playing some good ball right now and think they could grind one out against NDA especially the way NDA plays. Low scoring will keep games close and a good, late scoring run from HC could get them a win. Region is definitely Ryles to lose though. I heard Maddie Scherr still plays there and she is pretty good.

Lawson wasn’t in the box score for Dixie their last game but it shows she played per KHSAA and not in box score tonight. Did she play or did something happen with her. I hope not. I know she was coming back from ACL injury she suffered.

I believe these two losses really show where they are. Much improved but no where near the top yet. Young team though. They will be good next year and really good the following. Interested to see what happens against Dixie.

Wow. Holtman lit it up. Seems like she is really coming alive down the stretch here when it counts. Feldman with only 4???? Wow. Really close loss to SHA and now drilling NDA by 30. I would say Ryle is putting themselves in a spot to defend their title.

Ryle scores 66. That does not work well for that style they want to play. By the looks of the updates, It’s hard to play that style when you are playing from behind. Especially if you struggle to score 40 as a team.

Wow. Thought this would be a low scoring, knock down drag out tight game. 30 point victory by Ryle? Did Scherr go off?

Could this be the prelude to the 9th region title game? NDA gave Ryle everything they had last year in the tournament and had lead most of the game until late. NDA has a better record but I don’t think they have played near the schedule Ryle has. Who do you all have? What is your prediction?

She needs to get voted by her region coaches first. Barth was a great player at Highlands last year, but for two players to come out as co-players Of the year was a joke. Schwartz should have won it. Maybe would have changed outcome or Miss Basketball.

Awesome job by the WV Bearcats. I don’t think Coach Clink gets enough credit for the great teams he puts on the court year in and year out.

Congrats to NDA On the victory. They seem to have it rolling. It is amazing how quickly their record has changed since their coaching change. Coach Murphy gets it done. Excited to see what happens when they play Highlands, Conner, Ryle, Campbell, Dixie and SHA down the stretch here.

I do believe there was a thread last year insinuating that it was time for St. Henry to move on from Coach Faust. On top of being a terrific coach he is even better of a person and mentor for these kids. Congrats to the Cru on winning and good luck the rest of the way.

Is it safe to say that people overreacted when Scherr got hurt? Maybe those young kids grew up a little while she was out. Some convincing wins by the Lady Raiders lately.

I would agree with that. Conner beat Ryle and Scherr played only about half the game from what I understand. When they get to the end, they are still the team to beat I believe also.

This is a great win for WV. Great job to Coach Clink and the rest of team and staff. 3 pt win I will always take a OOB play drawn by Coach Trame.

What is everyone’s thoughts on updated top 10 in the 9th now that we are one month in? I will take a stab at it. 1. Dixie 2. Ryle 3. Conner 4. NDA 5. Highlands 6. NCC 7. Ludlow 8. Cooper 9. Boone 10. St. Henry Will say I feel last year Conner and Ryle were in a class of their own. This year there is no team like either of those teams but having top two teams in the state come from same region and district is crazy to think. I will say there is a big drop off after the top 4. Any of those 4 teams can win the region. Dixie made a great run late last year but Ryle just had too much fire power. Ryle has best player on court in Scherr and 2nd best in Crittenden. Big question is can the coaching staff get the supporting cast to improve enough to make it 3 years in a row. Conner has beat some goods teams this year. Dixie is deep and Lawson is working back. NDA will guard you. If you play their style they will win. Coach Murphy has won it all already and will have his team ready to go. Can they win a game that is out of the 40s though is my question? Some big matchups coming up and hope to catch a few of them.

This team is not like his teams at HC. Small and quick. I wouldn’t think you would slow it down with that. With all the big girls he had down at HC I completely understand. Again, maybe this was just my thought that NDA would get up and down. They will be prepared come February. Never question coach Murphy there. They gave Ryle something they weren’t expecting last year in the region. A lot closer than many expected. Just think they need to score more than 40 points if they are going to win the big ones.

Correct. I have not seen them play and yes I expected more. 4-1 and scored less than 40 pts in 3 games. 37 points against a 1-4 team. With Feldman and Bradshaw and other supporting cast I expected them to get up and go. Congrats to them for starting 4-1 but yes I was expecting more. Holy cross is middle of pack team in 9th and that’s their best win. I love Coach Murphy and have no doubt come February he will have them ready to go. Maybe I need to clarify and say I was surprised by their scores and expected them to get up and down and let it fly but doesn’t seem that way.

Simon Kenton is playing some really good ball right now. I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m surprised they are playing well but surprised they are playing to the level they are and beating teams by the margin they have. I am pretty surprised by Ryle starting the way they have. I know Scherr was banged up for a few games but from what I have heard they have looked pretty disorganized and the offense is just stagnant. Hopefully when they get to full strength they will play again at the level we al thought because they have some great players. I have been shocked by Boone’s scores. If they can make you play their style then they will win. They are small and they run. It is a track meet and fun to watch. I think Boone will get 3-4 surprising wins this year. Stamm can coach. Ludlow graduated a few but returned their best player. As someone else said it will be interesting to see what they do with some better competition. Last, I thought NDA would be better. Haven’t seen them actually play but haven’t been impressed with their scores and the people I have talked to that have seen them have said they thought they would be better.
