Mayfield is unbeatable (gets beat by Hazard in 2011 state finals), Mayfield will destroy anyone (gets beat by Danville with the Vancleave show in 17), mayfield is God’s gift to small school football (gets beat by CAL in the 18 finals). Where is this four touchdown thing coming from? Who knows if Somerset is capable of beating Beechwood, maybe they are and maybe they’re not - I know this if Somerset is fortunate enough to play 15 games this year it will be because they earned that right going through Beechwood, Danville, LCA and all of the other 2A powers that their schedule imposes and if it is Mayfield that sits there on game 15 then so be it, play ball.

Which has zero impact on this game in any capacity. You have a big briar jumper sign for your handle yet you’re always half in half out. Cmon man. A big resounding yes. They have talent all over the field. They may win or they may lose Friday but that won’t change this persons mind. They have a great team and will continue to improve.

Still looking for wheatonmoco#48 to chime in after his comment on another thread about “Somerset finding out Montgomery is legit.” Honestly, the way it looked to me from a distance, they lined up and covered the Somerset receivers one on one - that’s asking for trouble with that Somerset team. Not to mention their backfield is probably better than their receiving corps. On to the next, just looking for our guy wheatonmoco#48 to tell us what went wrong for the Indians I guess.

Freshmen played from the first play of the second half on - it was 48-7 at that point. Can’t tell the young guys not to play. Somerset scored on dive plays and a scoop and score off of a bad punt snap. Not a stat padder for the ones in any capacity.

Somerset is a contender in their class with a lot of returning pieces. A win by rock would be a major upset considering where they are currently. I expect a Somerset win, probably handily, no sense in pulling punches.

Was told late last night that a couple of Somerset kids were contacted by uk yesterday. Not sure how it took place but 2021 Kaiya Sheron QB was offered a Scholarship and inside linebacker Jase Bruner offered a preferred walk on spot. Congratulations to both of these fine young men.

No. Mayfield would not have handily beaten Somerset. Somerset outgained CAL on the night, had several opportunities. CAL and Somerset was a much better game and competitive throughout.

Humble opinion but the 2A title game appears to have been played by Somerset and CAL last Friday.

Those runs you speak of may have something to do with the fact that Somersets backfield is a load to handle consistently. This is two weeks in a row they’ve imposed their will in the run game late in ball games on people. Maybe they’ve found some identity. With grundy back on the other side of Miller, Bruner and Austin coupled with good o line play in the ground game I can see them getting some traction for a nice playoff run. Miller goes 205 with great speed and vision and bruner just eats the heart of a defense late in ball games. Having spoken to Jases father the injury he suffered late doesn’t appear to be season ending. Somersets defense is ridiculous, I agree, but it’s time to give some credit to a backfield and offensive line that has amassed (according to radio stats) about 500 yds rushing in district play.
