Yes and not only do they start just one senior but he is the only senior who plays period. The 3 guys they bring off the bench are 2 sophomores and a junior. They are fun to watch this year. They play great defense. If they can start finishing around the basket more consistently they will be extremely tough to beat. I've seen them miss way too many point-blank layups and put backs this year, but those things happen I suppose.
If there were ever a team that could lose a QB first play of the championship and still pull it off, it would be this year’s Mayfield team. It doesn’t hurt that they’ve ran a 2 QB system all year. Would rather it not be Guthrie, but the one player Mayfield can not afford to lose would be #6 Trey Matthews
This Mayfield team does play a complete different style of football than they did in the early 2000s when there were a few lopsided games though and I do think they will get the job done. Also Danville does not have the same coach they had then. I was only pointing out that I felt they had been out coached the last few meetings
I have personally witnessed Mayfield being out coached by Danville in the past. Not saying these Mayfield teams should have won but the way they were blown out was inexcusable
