I would like to say how surprised I am, but I can't. I've seen several handfuls of calls this season that were just like that one, so bad that you couldn't believe what you were seeing.

The Paducah Middle 8th grade team beat Corbin 58-0 today to make the D2 State Championship game next week. They will take on Boyle County, 18-14 winners over Lexington Catholic. This will be the 3rd title game appearance in a row for the Paducah 8th graders, who have lost the previous two. This is relevant to this post just to show how well your feeder programs can translate to the high school level with consistency of their own through play and keeping guys in the program. Coach Thompson's son should be able to log some minutes for PT as a Freshman next season as he is a very good athlete at multiple positions.

The 2023 version of Paducah Middle 8th graders beat Corbin 58-0 this afternoon and will take on Boyle County, who beat Lexington Catholic 18-14. They will be playing for the D2 State Championship. This is the 3rd straight season Paducah Middle will play in the Championship game, losing the previous 2. This is the 7th straight year playing in at least the semi-finals and that has translated over to the high school level with most of these guys staying together.

PT 11-0 | WE 6-5 These two match up for the second time after having played previously on October 13th, only this time, it's at a home game for Tilghman. PT won the first game 70-20, but it was a game with Tilghman leading 28-20 with 7:12 left in the 2nd qtr. However, a quarter later at 7:38 left in the 3rd quarter, PT led 56-20 and it was out of reach. Jack James had 377 pass yards in the 1st half of that game for PT while Carter had 5 catches for 198 yards, also in that first half. Tilghman had a lot of success hitting big plays in that one and will likely take to the air looking for homeruns once again. I think this one may stay a little closer and may not snowball like the first time, but Tilghman likely still creates a bit of separation.

Tilghman kicker Shep Esper came into tonight's game 72/72 on extra points for the season. After tonight, he's 82/82 and that should move him into 4th place in the record books. 83, 87 and 108 are 3rd, 2nd and 1st for consecutive extra points.

PT led 49-0 at the half and got the clock running early. Carter ran 2 first half punts back for touchdowns and the JV team took the opening kick of the 2nd half back for a touchdown. The game went as expected. PT gets the winner of Warren East and Nelson County next week.
