  1. Had the pleasure to see Dre Boyd play 3 times this summer. Once in AAU action and twice in summer league. It appears sagging off of him forcing him to shoot the 3 is no longer an option.
  2. Muhlenberg County 57 Warren Central 51 Madisonville N. Hopkins 65 Warren Central 64 Madisonville N. Hopkins 49 Muhlenberg County 46
  3. Reward defensive play. Adapt a shot clock.
  4. The 4 regions I follow closely 1st. McCracken County 2nd. Madisonville North Hopkins 3rd. Muhlenberg County 4th. Bowling Green Bowling Green should be on everyone’s watch list.
  5. The Gatorade Association championship tourney is being held in Lex this year.
  6. DSP out of Owensboro is competing in the 15U division I do believe
  7. R1 Breck over Ohio OC over Grayson Muhlenberg over Edmonson Meade over Owensboro (upset alert)
  8. Central's Dre Boyd has to develop a jump shot. He was left open beyond the arc all night and he never looked to shoot. He is obviously an elite athlete but is seriously lacking in the mid/long range game. If he develops this skill over the coming months there might not be anyone who could guard him in the 14th.
  9. Muhlenberg County came out running, setting the pace for the entire game catching Ohio County on their heels. Ohio County was able to trim the Mustangs tip to buzzer lead to 6 in the 3rd however it never felt close.
  10. Muhelenberg County with a new starting 5 for as many weeks, all leading to loses.
  11. Since Muhlenberg county's very successful holiday tourneys (5-1) against some very good teams, the Mustangs seem to have had zero consistency. Offensive plan of attack, defensive strategy, and starting line ups/rotations are a crap shoot. Not real sure what the young coach Kyle Eades is attempting to accomplish however his timing is odd to make such drastic changes to a team that has proven they can win once the bridle comes off.
  12. Bowling Green brought in the W tonight at home against Muhlenberg Co. The young Mustangs played well however the length and experience of Bowling Green proved to much. Sophomore Isaiah Mason of Bowling Green led all scorers with 20 pts, while sophomore Nash Divine of Muhlenberg County tried to keep pace with 19pts.
  13. Henderson County Defeated Muhlenberg County 60-54 Friday night in a game that never seemed close. After the 1st the score was locked up at 14 all but felt like Henderson had a 10 point lead. Henderson went on a 13-2 run in the second and it was down hill for Muhlenberg from there until early in the 4th when Muhlenberg County coach Kyle Eades took the bridle off his young Mustangs and let them start running. They made the game interesting in the 4th but the change of play came to late. The very athletic Henderson County So. Sanners was scoring at will penetrating the lane from the wing all night.
  14. OC’s schedule thus far has been soft at best. The only quality win is over Breckinridge County. If OC goes 2-0 this week they deserve to be at the top. My gut says they will go 0-2 but maybe with a Hail Mary split hairs at 1-1. OC is going to be heavily tested the coming weeks.
  15. This coming week should really separate the top 3 from the rest of the region. Breck is hands down the #1 team. Let’s reconvene Sunday.
  16. No consistency. The Berg got dropped 3 spots for a 1 point OT lose 3 weeks ago. Red Devils Dropped 2 this week and the Aces have dropped 3 games over Christmas break. I know your an Owensboro guy but in the words of Chris Carter, C’mon man!
  17. Muhlenberg County defeated Bullit Central 56-46 on day 3 of the Magnolia Bank Holiday Classic at LuRue County High School. Muhlenberg County went 3-0 with wins over Louisville Collegiate, Carlisle County, and Bullet Central.
  18. Muhlenberg county defeated Carlisle County 54-43 on day 2 at the Magnolia Bank Classic hosted by LaRue County High School. Muhlenberg County will face Bullitt Central at 3 EST tomorrow and Carlisle County will face Louisville Collegiate at 4:45 EST
  19. As mentioned its the same as a dunk. Yes its only 2 points. However if that dunk comes off a steal and the kid cuffs it back for the flush you have now inspired the bench, the players on the court, and the fans. HS basketball is just as much a mental game as it is physical. These are kids, with very short attention spans. A 4 point play or dunk easily swings momentum causing a 12 point game to quickly become a 2 point barn burner.
  20. Yes, it is the kids. No, kids like Allen, Tandy, etc. will not be impacted by this rule change. Why is good defense rewarded at all? Lets just throw the ball inbounds and let the kid stand in place. IMO its hypocritical to reward good defense on 1/2 the court of play. That is essentially what is happening now. We reward teams for pressing/preventing the opposing team from crossing midcourt in a timely manner but after that poof that thought process goes out the window. It's natural to be reluctant to change, however could you imagine the game without a 3 point shot? It was a change many was opposed to. In a state with a one class system it gives the first team with a 10 point lead a huge advantage. The team down now has to gas out on D in order to get a chance to cut into the lead. For a state supposedly so ingrained with basketball why are we not at the forefront of this?
  21. My question is this. Who actually benefits from not going to a shot clock format? The coaches who have made a career getting a 10+ point lead and then putting the brakes on the pace of play? Or the kids who we are supposed to be preparing for the next phase in life be it on the court or in the classroom?
  22. 2 late game technical fouls on Louisville Collegiate sealed the victory for Muhlenberg County yesterday in the first game of the Magnolia Bank Classic at LaRue County High School.
