Raiders JV team improved to 4-0 Monday night at Bath Co.

2nd Half getting ready to start in 10 minutes...

Halftime delayed for 1 hour now. Due to hear lightning...

The Raiders were up 19-12 at the Half, in what appeared to be an evenly matched contest. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter, the Hornets were done, exhausted. And once East found their weakness, they capitalized on it. In the 4th Quarter, where Magoffin Co fell apart, East Carter came together and thrived, scoring 4 touchdowns. East Carters defense looked impressive keeping Magoffin Co off the score board in the second half, including 1st and Goal from their own 2. Easts offense showed something they had been lacking in recent years, and that is Speed. The Raiders performance wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely a good way to start season. Now, back to work.

I think that's a perfect analysis of what it will take to improve over 2017. Improved the passing game, and fix the 40+ point deficit with the Defense. I will say, they looked good in scrimmages this past weekend against Fleming Co and Lawrence Co. They were evenly matched and played each other to a stalemate. Hicks is coming into his Junior season with 1 1/2 years of Varsity experience under center, so the passing game should be more of a threat. Defensively, they've shown improvements, and they will most definitely be put to the test against the big boys of the area, like JC, Ashland, and Greenup. A majority of the roster is made up of the Junior class, and they have a group of young but very talented players on their way up. East has been steadily improving over the past couple of seasons, and I believe they have a bright future ahead of them.

EKC Championship Game Results: 7th Grade: Nicholas Co 24, Mason Co 0. 8th Grade: West Carter 12, East Carter 6.

EKC 7th and 8th Grade Championships at Morehead State University this Saturday (10-28). 7th grade kicks off at 6pm, with 8th grade game following. 7th Grade: Mason Co vs Nicholas Co. 8th Grade: East Carter vs West Carter.

Both 8th Grade teams from Carter Co (East and West Carter) are undefeated (7-0). Both teams are following up on 10-1 7th Grade seasons with their 1 lose coming against each other.

7th Grade: East Carter 34, Rowan Co 0 8th Grade: East Carter 30, Rowan Co 0

Greenup Co 36, East Carter 20

From what I can find, 2001 was the last time East started 2-0.

7th grade: West Carter 14, East Carter 6 8th grade: Fleming Co 20, West Carter 14

They won't be playing Raceland next season. Or many of those others.

Home opener for East. Let's hope it gives them the added boost they'll need.

You're right, it's Cline. Young man is a stud, at all 3 major sports, but excels at football the most in my opinion.
