  1. Final from UC Medical Stadium Huff goes 6 innings and goes 2 for 2 at the plate McClanahan gets the save
  2. 3 hits between 2 teams....quick game, well pitched by both SP's.
  3. Highlands is very deep but it so far it hasn't made the difference for them although I never count them out. It takes 1 small run at the right time. Cooper is deep as well but for some reason they haven't put it together consistently but again, it takes a small run so you never know...just look at their basketball season, doubt anyone had them picked for the state finals.
  4. Thomas Spiritoso throws a CG for Ryle Conner Phillips started for Cooper
  5. Final from Union...leaves a 3 way tie for the district. Seeds will be drawn from a hat.
  6. I've always thought rankings were just not that important to be honest. On any given day anyone can beat anyone in baseball for the most part. I look through the list and see that we (Ryle) have faced 7 of the top 25, 1 of the "Bubble" teams and will face Cooper who's in the "next 5"...Like I said, any given day as we and our 7-12 record have beaten Highlands (vs. Rhom), lost 2-1 vs. Conner (balk scored winning run), lost 3-2 vs. Male, lost 11-7 vs. Scott Co, but then lost handily to St. X, Cov Cath (2x) and tied Campbell Co. 5-5 (suspended in 5th). Sometimes I think it's really hard to say who are the top 25 until they play each other....I've always wondered how national H.S. rankings are done when the people putting them on the list never see them play.
  7. Yes, tying run on 3rd...they tried the walk your runner off 1st to get in a run down while runner from 3rd tries to score....Scott Co played it perfect. Out at home, not even close.
  8. 5 Craddock pitched for Conner and Eckerly for CC....From what I head Conner hit all of the CC pitchers.
  9. 5 Craddock pitched for Conner and Eckerly for CC....From what I head Conner hit all of the CC pitchers.
  10. Nice that they got that game in.....Boone Cty JV wouldn't play Ryle yesterday...they said it was too cold. Welcome to NKY weather...lol.
  11. You can't put a lot into PBR's rankings....they have some individual kids ranked as top 5 at a position who don't even start for their varsity squads. That's not to say the kids aren't good players but it's hard to truly rank players based on workouts...IMO to get a true ranking of players you need to be see them first hand in game situations (Some PBR events are this way but not all). And there are a great number of players who don't attend showcases too so you gotta take a step back and wait to see how things come out in the wash. The same can be said for ranking teams...they need to be seen.
  12. Or was it Jared Carter....wonder whatever happened to him.
  13. I hope he turns out better than the last great BIG MAN out of kentucky...my money says yes. UK Career Statistics for Mike Scott Who remembers Mike Scott # 50 :lol2:http://bluegrasspreps.com/images/smilies/lol.gif Hometown: South Shore, KY (Greenup County) Position: C Playing Height: 6-10 Playing Weight: 230 Kentucky Career Notes: Transferred from Wake Forest
  14. I'm not really sure but from the way she reacted it was if she knew the pro scouts would be coming around real soon. He's the real deal.
  15. I agree with top 2 as well...after that I'd say (and I'm no expert) 3. Conner (Talented Sr Ace, good JR class) 4. Cooper (Good young up and coming team) 5. Ryle (No Ziggie so who's gonna step up and lead the staff, good JR class) 6. Beechwood 7. Dixie 8. NCC 9. St. Henry 10. Boone
  16. With that loaded staff where does that leave Doty...#4? Just a hint of offense and they should be tops in the area although I believe Cov Cath will have something to say as well...should be fun to watch. I was very impressed with Dreves and Rom...but that South Oldham kid was another level up...he's already built like a full grown man and probably has more in the tank that's yet to be developed. His mother about jumped out of her seat when hit popped 3 in a row at or above 93.
  17. This was our 5th event and to be honest I can see both sides. The positives being exposure as many college coaches are present, although I feel like the events where games are actually played are better as you get a better feel for a player in a game vs. in a batting cage. A negative can be varying times, ie, for Catchers the pop-times can be somewhat objective...this past event (can be seen in the videos) some catchers were setting up sideways and moving into the hitting zone to get a better pop time, one even had the plate between his legs to get an extra 2' closer to 2nd base...sometimes the coaches will say something about it but then they still post the pop time and don't mention anything negative for fear of losing a customer. Exit velo's and Pitching velos can be skewed as yesterdays event 80% of the kids were walking away upset as they seemed to be 4 to 6 mph lower than normal. I've been told that the college coaches will mostly watch the videos but will still end up getting their own numbers in person vs what PBR or PG might say...and I've had an area scout tell me he could care less about exit velo, just barrel the ball. I look at it as a necessary evil. I'm sticking with outdoor summer showcases with games only where your guaranteed 20-30 college coaches present...Nothing like game play to the "BP" studs from the others.
  18. Whoever pays....don't be fooled. There were some kids doing this for the 1st time that were decent players. I would find it hard to believe they would turn down $250.00.
  19. Just want to wish the many local NKY baseball players luck this Sunday at the PBR All State Showcase in Nicholasville. Per the PBR website it's going to be live streamed on Facebook and Twitter. Local players attending are: Drew Rohm - Highlands Alex Borman - Holy Cross Brayden Burch - Beechwood James Epplen - St. Henry Tyler Wagner - Walton Garren Parker - Bishop Brossart Grayden Cramer - Highlands Cameron McCabe - Ryle Braxton Foley - Walton Tyler Ollier - Cooper Brendan Reid - Cooper Hunter Dreves - Highlands Blaine Walters - Cooper Bryce Ziegler - Highlands Brian Carl - Holy Cross (not sure if our HC) Conner Ryle - Ryle Ethan Kavanagh - Highlands John Odom - Beechwood Adam Schneider - Cov Cath Jacob Tarvin - Ryle Grant Summers - Highlands Cooper Schwalbach - Highlands Casey McGinness - Cov Cath Braydon Runion - Cooper Gunner Smith - NCC
  20. Trany now has Craddock, Demler from Ryle and Yancy from Holy Cross...not a bad pickup for your pitching staff.
  21. I can't wait for the Ryle/Cooper game...I thought last year the Cooper QB outplayed him but we will see. I am a Ryle parent but pull for NKY football so I am unbiased. Should be a great game.
  22. Conner just got a lot better for next season....younger brother of a former Freedom SS has arrived and is in school. Word has it he's a masher. C/3B...crushes the ball. Hits very well with wooden bad. Came from Florida where he was on a large school state championship team.
  23. My son is a JR to be at Ryle and catches...he learned from one of the best IMO, Jason Frilling (Walton Verona/Georgetown College), it's all about the turn of the wrist when receiving a pitch vs. moving the glove...also important is the slight movement of the body vs the glove...small side to side adjustments can leave your glove centered on your body...making the pitch appear to be in the zone. Not enough teaching of this skill going around but Jason is one of the best instructors.
