  1. Well said, exactly what I was saying in the first place. Verbal offers are just that VERBAL, non-binding, unofficial. It gives something for the parents to put on FB or BGP...LOL.
  2. If I'm wrong please show me where it's written...I am not adverse to being corrected when I'm wrong...just ask my wife...LOL.
  3. No, not confused at all....you will not find an official offer on paper to any kid before their junior year. The verbal offer, yes, and it is not binding in anyway...it can be pulled at anytime so it's not an official "offer" until it's on paper. That's all I'm saying. I think PP92 said the same thing.
  4. First and Foremost you have to know that D1's cannot make official "OFFERS" until Jr year so there's that. A "we would love to have you" is not an official offer...just like a kid committing to a D1 does not mean he will ever step foot on that campus. I personally talked to a coach about this very subject...I had noticed 2 other C's had "committed" to the same school as my son and I knew from the meetings we had that they were not looking to bring more than 1 in the incoming class so I asked the coach about these 2 commitments and his exact words were "I can't control what a kid puts on a PBR or Twitter...just because he's saying he committed to us doesn't mean we are committed to him". Take a look at PBR "commitments" from 2017 and bounce that against 2018 rosters to see how many actually arrive on campus..it's pretty interesting.
  5. PBR has been known to "over state" players abilities at times but in this case it doesn't seem to be embellishing to me....I don't know enough about Gulley to say D1 or not but I do find it surprising that he hasn't committed to a D1 school yet if in fact he's that level...but who knows the reason, maybe he has tons of offers and is still mulling over which is best for him, or maybe with the move from another state it opened up other opportunities with different schools that he hadn't included before.

  8. Who are other commitments from the NKY area? These are the ones I know, or I think I know. I've heard of some others like Kennedy from Cov Cath have committed but I don't know where to. 9. True, but still you can't assume they beat everyone just based on D1 vs D2 or NAIA level talent...that's why baseball is the best game...on any given day as they say. Beechwood should have outscored their opponents by a wide margin a few years back with all the hitters they had just like the BRM did back in the 70's. They had marginal pitching (better than given credit for) but just out hit everyone...Everyone wanted to crown them champs but they couldn't get out of the region...let alone state.
  10. Ha Ha...wonder what 2020 dad will be saying in 2020 when the 2018 class is gone...not likely to see another class like that for some time. Ride the tails while you can...lol.
  11. Be careful of the "Personal Letters"....I had to show the so called "personal letter" we received to some parents of kids I coached and other players parents I knew. It can be very deceiving and every parent wants to believe their kid was personally invited to "try out" for the school. They were a little taken back when we showed them the exact same letters. These schools are not stupid, they know the parents want to be able to say "my son was invited". If that were truly the case my son was personally invited to Notre Dame, EKU, George Washington, U of AZ, Coastal Carolina...and so on and so on. Just be careful.
  12. 100% agree that Kevin will take BW to another level if everyone lets him do his thing..best coach in the area as far as I'm concerned, however, that being said....no way does BW beat Highlands this season. If they don't dominate the 9th region in 2018 it will be the largest upset in years. Everyone thought their staff was good last year...it only gets better this year. Losing Doty hurts, sure, but the other boys got a year older and they picked up a pretty decent 1b as well who can drive the baseball. I love the enthusiasm about your team cord but respectively, I can't see it. I got Highlands Cov Cath Cooper BW SH Ryle and the rest
  13. I'm not claiming to be an expert but my son is a senior who recently committed and we've been through the whole process so I would recommend only doing showcases where an actual game(s) is played as those tend to draw more schools and attending camps where other schools may be there to assist. I know early on we did a UK camp and there were numerous coaches from smaller NAIA, D2, D3 helping out at the camp. Going to a showcase in the middle of winter to throw 15 pitches and leave or take 15 swings, throw 5 balls from SS and run a 60 doesn't draw as well as game play.
  14. Parents need to be careful and not fall into the Camps vs. Showcases trap...I'm not saying all of the camps are this way but many are used as fund raisers for the program vs. really looking for actual prospects (not saying it can't happen) but why pay $250+ to go to a school where only that staff sees you vs. a showcase where more schools are present. What's funny about these camps is how many parents tell me "Little Johnny got an offer from D1U" and I'm like "congrats, what was the offer"?...."Well, they've sent him a letter asking him to come to their camp in Arizona...they must really want him", and they really believe their son is the only one getting this form letter so they start telling people their son is being recruited by D1 schools.
  15. Agree 100% and well said,...as a parent of a player with a PBR and other site memberships you have to keep an open mind and be realistic. At one point my son was ranked by PBR as a top 10 Catcher for 2018 having never played an inning of varsity baseball. Was I proud my son was ranked?..yes, but was it realistic to think he was really in the top 10...NO. People don't take into consideration the # of kids who don't do PBR or other events...and how they rank the players boggles my mind at times..it should not matter who you play summer baseball for but it's pretty easy to see it does have an affect. PBR helped my son but so did Champions Fall League, Bluegrass Baseball experience...etc. There are many ways to get noticed. IF your going to have rankings they should be based on player ability during evaluations only...I personally don't think the schools care who is ranked 1, 10 or 100...I think that's a tool to get parents to attend more events so they can see little Johnny move up..
  16. LOL...I hope he gets drafted and the ML club shuts him down like they did Hunter Greene in HS. Gives other HS a chance...lol.
  17. Cooper has 2 going to NKU (D1) (Ollier and Blaine Walters)...they have another that is going the JUCO route for whatever reason (Reid) but I believe he was getting looks from D1 and another that is every bit as talented as the 1st two that I don't believe has signed (Phillips). Then of course they have Runion who I heard is giving it a go as a closer this upcoming season but has D1 talent as a hitter. Should make for another great season in the region.
  18. They are missing out on a very good coach if they don't bring back Carney....that man knows baseball and communicates well with the kids. Good man.
  19. Maybe some of the ones that were mentioned during BW opening...Curley? That would be a nice class to start out with...some of the top pitchers in the area coming back...1-3 are solid.
  20. There are more than just those 2 out there but I agree on Stringer 100%. There are others that would not be starters at larger schools that are top players at their smaller schools I just don't know all their names but would bet there are.
  21. It's funny that many of those players get the high accolades at smaller programs for being great athletes but wouldn't start at larger schools....I don't see many that go from smaller programs to larger ones that stand out although I'm sure there have been some.
  22. Some of those tuition kids are coming from schools where they can't beat the competition at the larger school so they move somewhere they can...I wonder how many actually move to face better competition vs. going somewhere to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond. Just curious.
