  1. Please tell me you are not stating "Undefeated in the districts" as an accomplishment....that should happen every year...no disrespect as I went to Ludlow and played FB but Beechwood is clearly an elite program in a very very weak district. When was the last time they were seriously challenged by any of those 3. And when your starting QB, top RB/DB (castleman, usnure of his true position) are 2 of the tuition kids it makes a huge difference...but they would still not be challenged in that district.
  2. Cord, I'm not agreeing or disagreeing...I don't have a dog in the fight so it matters little to me. I was just curious as to what happened to cause such a spur of the moment move that had a long time coach leave a program. I got the "I had dinner with so and so and he said he was told to play non tuition kids" and so on and so on....it comes down to who you believe and I'll bet we never get the real story. I agree with your statement though, it should guarantee and education not a spot on the team if your open to taking tuition students....my point was that those who are complaining about tuition students playing over Ft Mitchell kids would stop complaining the minute the championships quit coming their way. I would take it as a compliment that kids would want to come to my school for academic and sports accolades but then I'm not a parent of a kid sitting the bench at BW while a kid from Independence or Boone County is playing ahead of mine....I'm sure that is difficult.
  3. Did I read this right? 7 of 9 WERE tuition kids....if that's the case I can see people being upset....at least until the football program or baseball program starts losing, then it's "Let's get the best athletes"...LOL.
  4. rumor I heard was he BM was told he needed to play BW kids more than tuition kids and responded with "you don't tell me who I play"....I guess he's right, they don't but they do pay the salary. **Word of mouth rumor, cannot validate** Be interesting to see how this affects future "tuition students/athletes"...will new coach follow this direction (If it's true) and play the BW kids over tuition??? What happens to future of program without incoming transfers. Haven't they had quite a few in the last few years??? Outsider, so don't know, just asking.
  5. Agreed, Coach Gray has dismissed a few in his time which I applaud. I love a coach who cares more about building/molding young men into responsible adults vs turning a blind eye to antics just to win games. Not sure he'd be well liked there by some that lack this discipline at home and expect to get away with it on the field too...which I'm sure happens at all schools not just BW.
  6. Ground out....3 outs........SK to championship.
  7. Hunter Fair doubles...2 RBI, 5-2 SK scores Martin and Ponder
  8. 2nd and 3rd, no outs for SK bottom of 6. Trattles reached on error, Martin singled and went to 2nd on throw to 3rd. Trattles scores on sac bunt
  9. Yes Chris....from everything I've heard and small conversations I've had with him it appeared he was done unless someone paid him enough to entice him into staying with it. I think he'd make a great young coach...he has a talent for communicating with younger kids.
  10. Rom - Michigan Commit Doty - Otterbien Commit Nuff said.........with all due respect, Rom is the better pitcher hands down. Way more upside, more polished. If Doty was better D1 would be knocking on his door.
  11. Conner's running game kept it close...they were able to get on due to errors or walks (not hits) and the birds couldn't figure out how to stop the "very large lead with a LH pitcher, go on 1st move no matter what" running game. A LH 1b simply needs to aggressively step in towards the pickoff throw from the P and throw to 2b to get the runner or P must have a step off move which would most likely catch the runner in a rundown as they move on 1st movement. If you stay back at the bag or fumble it as the birds did you have no chance to stop it. It's a very effective play that you better figure out or it will hurt you. Conner should have bunted IMO when they had less than 2 outs and a very fast runner on 3rd twice in the game before Rom entered the game. Congrats to both teams on great seasons.
  12. Now to find a pitcher for Thursday's game....No Craddock, No Henshen...will they start the kid who started last night but didn't make it out of the 2nd? Not sure who else is left but I hope they can pull it off...would be a nice upset with that bluebird pitching staff.
  13. If they threw off, they got what they deserved. Enough teams have thrown off in the past years (just last year 2 teams did it and it cost them) for them to know better. Walters was the victim of bad defense that allowed extended innings and some good hitting by SH. If Reid was available and you don't throw him you live and die with that decision....THERE IS NOT TOMORROW IF YOU DON"T WIN TODAY! But SH played very well so I'm not going to say they wouldn't have beaten Reid either.
  14. Conner took advantage of some not so solid play in the field by CC and it looked at times like Craddock was throwing 90 as the CC bats looked slow. My opinion, they went 1 too many innings before bringing in Casteel. Good luck to Conner.
  15. There is no tomorrow if you don't win today....Ryle 2016 ...ziggy didn't start, lose district. Ziggy doesn't start rd 1 of regional, lose regional. I believe Cov Cath made the same mistake the same year...bounced in 1st round.
  16. It was Spiritoso for Ryle...no doubt the most solid, consistent pitcher for a not so good team this year. On 3 different occasions this year he gave up 3 or less hits only to lose all 3 games because no offense could be mustered for him. Very good pitcher...probably his last game of baseball unfortunately.
