I think the rankings should be done with: Human (Bluegrasspreps) Computer (Cantrell) Coaches Each one being 1/3 of the rankings.

GRC has the best coach in the district.

I like this idea. Still gives district some meaning. However I'm still waiting to hear on how the KHSAA plans to seed the super regional.

Jullian Tackett stated that it was never a plan to eliminate the district tournament. That's why I did not attempt to change it.

Yes he is very valuable to his team and is a big factor to their success, but if he is on most other teams in the 10th, he probably doesn't start.

Districts are the same. Finals on Thursday. Region on Saturday. It would be the same as having the SEC tournament. It still means something but if you lose, you still get to play in the NCAA tournmanent. I'm not sure how they plan to see as of right now, but I would have a "selection show" on early Friday morning after districts where they put together Rankings from LIT, Cantrell, and BGP.

@dell I though it was necessary to give each team a one day break between games. And I like the idea of sectionals of what you had. Only problem is I think have of Mason County play @ somewhere the same night they host games would be a problem. Administration would want to watch Mason County play instead of hosting other teams.

I also thought about the idea of playing the all 8 first round games on the same night, it might sound crazy but here's why: It creates a sense of controlled chaos. You may be at one game but you're constantly trying to check scores of the other games. Like the MLB recently changed the Wildcard format so both games are played on the same night, at the same time. I though that this would draw some interest because of everything going on. I also thought about making it so that every district played their boys championship game on Thursday, and have the first round of 8 played on the Saturday with games going on throughout the day at different times so people could go to multiple games. Then have round two on Monday and Tuesday, round three on Thursday, and the championship on Saturday.

I keep going back and looking at this to find ways to make it better. I think I would need to move the round 3 games to Saturday and then have the championship game on Monday. To give each team a day to prepare

Paris I think has the most athletic and best players in the 10th. And I think that some players get overlooked because everyone on that team is so talented.

You are correct sumo. I think the money in the first round should be kept by the host school however pay for the away team's travel. Another incentive to be an 8+ seed.

Another reason for this: Right now the region is mildly seeded due to the fact that a district champion plays a district runnner-up. If you're a district champion, you probably want no part of the runner-up of the 37th and 40th district. So this sort of evens everything out so that the best 4 teams could be in the semi-finals. Also attempts to put the best two teams in the finals and not the semi-finals.

No, because all the teams would advance to the super-regional. KHSAA said they would only allow 29 games instead of 30, to make up for the extra game played.

Another reason why I am a fan of this: Schools like Pendleton, Bracken, and Augusta get the opportunity to host a post-season elimination game. Last year Augusta would have hosted Nicholas County. But it would be fun to see a Bracken host Pendleton or vise-versa or Bracken host Augusta or vice versa. These games are already big but it would be even better if the loser's season ended. Just think for a minute that Augusta could host a post-season game in their iconic gym. It would give schools an incentive to fight for every game all season to be an 8+ seed and host a big elimination game.

I edited post #6 to add possible game times. A Friday night with Campbell/Scott and Paris/GRC at the Fieldhouse would fill the place up!

Silver Grove did not make the cut because this only works with 16 teams.

With all the talk going on about the 15th Super-Regional Tournment, I thought I would take the time to make a hypothetical 10th Region Bracket using the current http://bluegrasspreps.com/ky-boys-basketball/10th-region-recap-344242.html#post6216489

I thought they used to do that? Calvary Christian did not play Campbell or Scott last year, neither did The Grove. Here is what the KHSAA website says

If a #1 seed is so ahead in competitiveness to the point where it would be useless to play, districts can do what the 37th does. Campbell County, Scott, and Bishop Brossart all play each other for the 1, 2, 3 seed. These teams do not play Silver Grove and Calvary Christian as they have agreed to be the 4 and 5 seed every year.
