Is it too early for Bluegrass Prep fans to cast their ballots for All 10th region performers...do we factor in the success of the team...for individual accolades?

 

 

 

For some yes. GRC has some very good players but won't have high scoring # as other players. We have very high # in assists per game. Think other stats should be considered and not just scoring.

Major factor for me is scoring efficiency. Is a disproportionate volume of team shots being taken by a player producing a low % of successful attempts and resulting points per attempt? If so then teammates tend to stand, disengage, and become watchers. That is why scoring average can sometimes be misleading if taken in isolation as the overriding component in evaluating all Regional performers. IMO

My theory is...are you a team player and do you make players better? Some voters are caught up on scoring avg but are not considering that some have an unlimited data plan..meaning can shoot any and every time ...I'm aware that some teams need their best player to put up numbers to contend... but are you really contending when your on the outside looking in as a team...while your contenders have multiple players who can score 20+ or have 2 17 or 18 pt scorers.

Is your team playing extraordinarily well and exceeding their expectations because you're on it? That encompasses many things but in essence I think that makes you a contender.

I agree Jozey with what you're saying, but what if the team has the best chance of winning with that player scoring a lot. For example, Allen from PC comes to mind. He scores 30+ a game and when he doesn't PC struggles to win. Should we not consider him?

I think Jordan Graham for GRC is the perfect example, he does a little bit of everything, if you watched him play on the court you'd see how valuable he is, it's alot different then the stat sheet.

Allen is a good example of a solidly efficient scorer. 1.11 field goal efficiency, while shooting 51% from field, only 32% from 3, and an exceptional 78+% from the line. In addition avg 12+ rebounds on a 17-10 ballclub that has an outside chance of making Regional noise. Only a sophomore, but a real difference maker. In my opinion, one of top two POY candidates in 10th.

He has the lime green light...yungin will be the top prospect to come outta the 10th region in a looong time but I'm not voting jus on scoring avg alone...gotta factor in success of team as well.

Paris I think has the most athletic and best players in the 10th. And I think that some players get overlooked because everyone on that team is so talented.

So do you think Mason Burden from Robertson Co deserves a vote? Averages 25.5ppg and has lead his team to 14 wins this season. Team had 8 wins last year...2 of their remaining 3 before District are very winnable - SG and Dayton. That would double teams win from previous season. That's success to a small school, however, he may not play in the Region.

Mason Burden most definitely deserves a vote ... kid has over 1500 points and in most games is their leading rebounder ... a big part of their success this year ... whether you base it on numbers or importance to their team , I think he meets the criteria for both ... we seem to talk a lot about the players on here that score alot but Mason is never really brought into the conversation ... And should be if you are gonna talk about these other scorers of the 10th region which they deserve ...

Yes he is very valuable to his team and is a big factor to their success, but if he is on most other teams in the 10th, he probably doesn't start.

Probly not but he does start for Robertson county and they are in the 10th ... and he has averaged over 20 points the last two or three years ??? Can't look at that kid thru different glasses ...Just saying you can't overlook him for doing that for his team just like other kids doing the same for their teams ... don't get me wrong I hope he gets less than 10 in their opener in the district because they play our Bluejackets ...
