Fort Thomas is self contained as you describe - just 2nd grade thru 7th. This is the first year the league/board decided to separate the 8th grade boys (from 7th) and field two teams in the NKY League. Not sure exactly why but it was time for a tweak for sure with the participant numbers down a bit and just right time for a tweak/more competition playing across NKY.

Fort Thomas Blue won 6 -0, scoring in last minute of game. HARD fought defensive battle and a great game to watch. Very well played...Congrats to both teams and coaching staffs.

i think Newport stadium also hosts a couple games Sunday - a few senior games will be played in the afternoon.

Yes was at the HHS blue game tonight. Splitting the Fort Thomas 8th graders evenly between 2 teams of about 13-14 players (now w/injuries) is starting to surface in a competitive league...not complaining at all - love the innovative thinking But 13 players and missing a linebacker and running back or athlete...on a split team and you start to experience significant drop off. Especially when playing competitive, quick great athletes in a competitive league. I won't get into the hitting and tackling aspect of football (missing on these FT teams)...save that for another day in this concussion era. This is a very challenging football era (to say the least) to teach, ask for and expect aggression and flying thru a ball carrier.

Game this morning 10am at Taylor Mill Mills Park. The starting linebacker and fullback for Blue is 7th grader Schuett.

They won't beat Cov. Cath? Haven't they beat Cov Cath for 30 years? And Cov Cath is private school with 20 zip codes on their bench vs. the Fort 41075? I would go with the Fort. And Houston - if they lose this year..uhh - the calvary is a coming...

i'm sure it will be a great game.... I'm old - so i just care the athletes are getting better and quicker....and I'm seeing that with alot of the athletes - which is awesome and thank you to the coaches for keeping them running and very, very busy RUNNING (not listening - they get enough of that during the day)

Blue Fort Thomas 7th/8th grade is fun on Offense....but watching 3+ games - i love their Defense. They have athletes all over field like a lot of teams - but Blue has some kids that LOVE to HIT and fly to the ball and unload - and ya can't teach that love of hitting..that comes from above

From what I've heard - the top teams in the Senior Division are all very comparable with no overwhelming favorite. The Ft. Thomas two teams have equal talent and South Kenton is also very good, along with CC Red Devils and Covington team. Sets up nicely (with no runaway winner) for a very fun year-end tourney in this year's Senior Division.

i think this is a fair, wonderful question - based on this county family/sports infrastracture for sure - congrats CC !!

The more the merrier...especially in this concussion era with numbers down...so water down all ya like yes sir....it's 8th grade..enjoy the experience..and hell yes, compete and work those young athletes and coaches yes read, research and put frameworks in front of the athletes to win - but no PT and winning at (virtually) any cost - that high school fun can all come later sports fans.

Great competitive, hard hitting game tonight between Ft. Thomas 8th grade white team and CC Red Devils at HHS. Beautiful night for football and the young athletes played a great game. It came down to last series for Fort Thomas - down one point - they drove the length of the field behind Hergott's beautiful passes and solid WR catches and Hergott scored running it in from 9 yard line with 15 seconds left in game to put the Fort up 18 to 13 for the final score. (not certain final score). Entertaining game with lotsa speedy athletes on the field...great night of football. Congrats to both teams.
