Ally Niece (Simon Kenton) named 8th Region POY
More were scheduled, but not played. Furthermore, I've been following this program for about 7 years, and I cannot recall Anderson or Shelby or any of the Oldhams coming to Independence to play. SK has gone to Shelby in that period.

True, THIS YEAR.

For the record, I never said the 8th was better the 9th. I only said that the 9th is down compared to recent years, and that the top of the 8th region is underestimated. I would agree that from 5-8 the 9th is deeper.

Boone, Cooper , NCC, all better last year?

I'm glad you weighed in. I had forgot that Anderson beat Holmes.

Holmes, HC and HHS were all much better last year. Agreed?

I think you under estimate Anderson, Shelby and even Walton, which is more to my point. NDA, Boone, HC and even HHS are not nearly as strong as recent teams. Furthermore, even Ryle , which is having a good year, when compared to Crittenden era teams, is not as strong. So I stand by my statement that the 9th is down. Sentinel, I'm sure you have seen more of Anderson and Shelby that I have, what say you?

Which 4 teams in the 9th would you rate over SK? Evidently the folks you state provide the most accurate rankings, disagree with you. http://bluegrasspreps.com/ky-girls-basketball/bluegrasspreps-girls-rankings-323085.html At the beginning of the year, or even 2 weeks past Christmas , I would have agreed with you. Not now though. SK took the foot off the pedal too early in this game. HHS was DOMINATED for 3 quarters. Its a mistake they will not repeat.

Honestly, over all, I would say the 9th is down this year. SK is 10-1 vs the 9th. I don't believe it would be a problem at all.

Gaudy records can also be an indicator of too soft a schedule. The regular season is just preparation for the post season. If your team is prepared and matured for the post season, you have accomplished your mission irregardless of record.

Not arguing just discussing different takes from the videos out there . Not taking anything away from the 3/4 court shot . I for one can only DREAm about making such a shot even at my age !! lol... I actually like the fact the officials let the players decide the outcome rather than them!!

Looking at the two tapes out there on youtube and I noticed in both there was a reach in (possible foul worthy) from the other player to the center of the court. I couldn't make out her number. She reaches in significantly across Neaces body to interfere with the dribble PRIOR to the possible extended arm and question of potential push off of Neace. The HHS coaches can be seen coaching keep arms up and they had been yelling the whole 4th quarter Do not foul Neace. Assuming that is what they were telling them at this moment would go along with the Adler girls upper body twisting and turning away from Neace to avoid the possibility of a foul on the shot while still maintaining her position between the basket and Neace? Thoughts???

Other thread stated best player on the floor was #15 HHS.. Couldn't disagree more. She was ONE of the best players on the floor. No disagreement with her performance being one of the better performers just don't believe she was the Best alone!!!!! I believe the Neace performance equaled hers and the final shot solidified her as one of the Best performers of the night. Also great credit has been extended to HHS come back performance. No issue there either however not much credit being thrown to SK's performance in getting such a commanding lead in the first place....That is ok the best to each team in their pursuit of District and Regional Championships in the 9th and 8th .

Now that the regular season is over, and seeing that SK could have handled the press better, I really wish they would have played Holmes. They needed to see the full 32 minutes of pressure Holmes throws at you and get the press breaker polished off earlier in the season.

Thanks to the Lady birds, the Lady Pioneers will be spending practice working on press breakers! I believe HHS had a game the night before and may not have had as much of a chance to prepare for SK. Usually, teams jump trap or double team Niece to get the ball out of her hands, or at least play her left hand. In the first half, they seemed to let Niece do whatever and they paid the price. After the half, they started doubling Niece. Maddy Meier had that "Beast" attitude that I would like to see more often.

SK did what ever they wanted offensively for 3 quarters. Both Neace and Meier were humming. A combination of SK stopping to attack the rim and pressure by the HHS got them back into the game. Good luck to both squads in districts and regionals.
