I am sure that the AD being a basketball coach has slowed down the process some along with other things that have been mentioned in this thread but yes you are right very little speculation on any of the jobs so far.

Hiring a guy who was a great player with no high school coaching experience is no different than hiring a guy who wasn't a great player with no high school coaching experience. Not a great move either way.

Like I said it doesn't ALWAYS translate. Yes strength does play a big part in football but I think functional strength is what is most important and a lot of times that's not emphasized in these meets.

I know a lot of people enjoy these weight meets but to be honest in a lot of cases winning weight meets just doesn't translate to winning football games.

Who did they interview?

Probably matter of time before we begin to hear rumors about candidates then.

Woodford district tourney starts tonight. If Woodford gets beat out they would have to start making phone calls to set up interviews I would think. When did they do Spring Ball last year or when are they scheduled to do it this year?

Spring ball not all that far off would think that of all the jobs open right now Mercer would have some movement fairly soon.

It is odd that nobody has any clue who all has applied or who the favorites may be. I don't like the approach of saying "we want a guy with head coaching experience period." Sure that would be nice but I think sometimes schools hire guys who aren't very good coaches just because they have head coaching experience. I'd rather have a guy who has been a long time assistant that wants a shot than a guy who isn't very good as a head coach.

Any word out of Mercer County? Who are some candidates being considered?
