  1. I was very impressed with Knott tonight. Lincoln County is a very good team and Knott dismantled them. Really turned it on when Justice scored like 12 straight towards the end of the 2nd and never looked back. Knott scored 17 points in the first 4 minutes of the 3rd. They moved the ball extremely well against Lincoln's 2-3 zone, which they play quite well. Some effective high-low action with Christon getting it to Hall. Hall found Cornett and Combs on the baseline multiple times. I think the play of the game was a no look diagonal pass from Justice to a cutting Cornett for a layup through multiple defenders in the break.
  2. Per Mike Fields and Lexington Catholic AD Brad Carter on Twitter.
  3. Camron Justice (6-2 SG) has signed to play with Vanderbilt. Evan Hall has committed (signed?) to play with IUPUI. I think Hall is 6-7 or 6-8. He plays the post and I'd guess he'd be a SF/PF for IUPUI. I would expect it to be a good game. Lincoln draws a good crowd, Knott usually travels well so I'd expect it to be a pretty good crowd as well.
  4. Varsity game has been moved up to 6:30PM per this tweet from a radio station in Lincoln County and retweeted by Lincoln County Athletics' twitter account. They didn't say anything about the JV game being at 5 but I'm sure cahall is right about that as well.
  5. CovCath's pressure defense gave NewCath trouble. They denied Pangallo the ball a lot, and I think he got in foul trouble if I remember correctly. Pangallo only ended up with 4 free throws for the game. While NewCath's bigs are very good and important they aren't the same team when Pangallo's taken out of the game.
  6. Thanks for the info. Already got a decision to make on the 24th...Scott Co vs Henry Clay or Lexington Catholic vs Dunbar.
  7. The Buckhorn vs Johnson Central game has been cancelled. They'll be starting with the girls game.
  8. I was curious if anyone knew the official schedule for this event tomorrow. Here is a link to the KHSAA's schedule but one of the games doesn't have a time, the Buckhorn game was listed at 7 until a day or so ago. Based on my experience in the past the schedule for these types of events is shaky at best on KHSAA's site. So I was wondering if anyone knew the exact schedule. Thanks.
  9. I couldn't disagree more, range is certainly an ability. Many kids can shoot 15 feet and in. Or kids can shoot out to the 3 point line but you put them 3, 4, 5 feet behind it and their percentage drops dramatically. He can handle the ball well enough, not well enough to play point in my opinion. He does a good job of driving to the basket and finishing. He can certainly get by a slower defender that is guarding him too close but his money maker is his shot. From what I've seen I think he's better at catch and shoot but he can certainly pull up off the dribble.
  10. It goes along with him being a great shooter but he has incredible range on his jumpshot. I've seen him hit many from well, well beyond the arc.
  11. He's average 24.3 a game according to KHSAA. 226/24.3 = 9.3 games. So if he stayed at his current season average it would take 9-10 games. They have 3 regular season games left, 2 district (? ... I assume they have more than 3 teams), and 3 in region would get them to 8 games. So it looks like he could very well move into 2nd at Rupp, which would be cool. It's hard for me to envision him getting 2nd without Knott getting to Rupp. If he scores enough to get 2nd before the Sweet 16 he'll have likely scored enough to help Knott make it there.
  12. It seems to me that having the wall so close to the baseline compounded the issue as well. I've never liked gyms configured with such little space on the ends.
  13. First, has it really been that long for the 14th? Also, I love their draw. Gives them a great chance of making it to Saturday. Dreaming here but it'd be awesome to see Knott vs say Ballard Saturday night and have Justice get hot. Watching him go for 62 at Lexington Catholic two years ago is one of the most enjoyable games I've watched. It may be the best individual performance I've ever seen.
  14. Yeah, that's what I've seen as well. With that said, like Patman noted with the stats, even if you try to frustrate him he's still gonna put up great numbers cause he's just that good. I'm not sure there is a post player in the state that scores better than him.
  15. I didn't but clearly you're not interested in an actual discussion. Good day.
  16. When I saw them play at Lexington Catholic they didn't have enough ball handling to handle the press. Also, the big boys aren't very quick or athletic so they can get beat down the floor, scored on, etc.
  17. The homerism I think is way overblown by most fans. No doubt there is some but blaming the officials is a much easier thing to do than admit the other team was better that night. I agree about the style of play and such. That's why Wayne shot 40+ free throws vs Dunbar down at Southwestern. Dunbar's physical play was called for more fouls from 12th region refs than they are used to in the 11th. I only mentioned the officiating because you insinuated it by mentioning where the officials were from. Also, from being at all of those games the Wayne Co fans are...I'll say passionate and have no problem voicing that to the officials.
  18. I think Lafayette does a good job of getting the ball to Ross Jenkins down low. He's not an amazing post player but he's a strong high school post. I've only seen South Laurel play once but they get the ball to big Caleb Taylor as well as anyone I've seen in the state.
  19. I wasn't at the game but when I saw the result I told my friend that I bet the big boy for SW (Dylan Gaskins) got up into Hall and frustrated him, which you can see happening in two of the videos. That is something he has never cared for.
  20. They are two evenly matched teams. I was at both games and didn't think the officiating was poor in either case.
  21. I did see the admins for East over in front of their students. I then saw admins for both schools shake hands and smiling after so I don't guess there were hard feelings. My first thought when I saw it was "Oh man this is gonna get ugly." But obviously I was wrong.
  22. 1st...Head to head among all 3 teams involved. 2nd...Random draw among the three teams. http://khsaa.org/httpdocs/basketball/districtregion/districtseedingplans/District%2043.pdf
  23. Being originally from the 10th this doesn't surrise me one bit. Mason has always shot lights out in the Fieldhouse.
