  1. Battle for what? POY? Hentz is the best all-around player there is, and is usually on the short list for National POY honors. No one else in NKY comes close.
  2. Now that the season's over, lots of previous predictions/comments about many different teams, players, coaches - who would beat who, who would win what, etc. Which predictions nailed it, and which ones missed it?
  3. I think in 2013-2014 school year, Notre Dame won 6 or 7 Regional championships? - not sure on the number. I remember seeing Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, and Tennis for sure, plus a few more I think.
  4. Truth be told . . . I have good news and bad news . . .Mercy and/or Assumption would pound Scott badly. Mercy is the #1 team in the country, Assumption is/was the 4 time defending State Champion. Scott wouldn't stand a chance. The good news is Scott doesn't have to worry Assumption (they didn't win their region) and Scott wouldn't have to face Mercy until the Semi-finals Sat night. So have you seen who the Region 10 winner plays? Region 16! and that would be Raceland!
  5. That looks good - maybe replace Silver Grove with Camp Co? Maybe find a way to work in a Simon Kenton or Beechwood or Dixie Heights to get more exposure to NKY volleyball? Every schedule is a balance between winning and competitiveness. If your team is truly up and coming as you say, toughening up the schedule may be the way to go.
  6. I picked Raceland to win in my post, how is that an "obvious slam / disrespect"? It's not opinion, it's fact - look up the teams that participated in said tourney and compare it with the state rankings, and you will see that your are incorrect in your statement.
  7. Any Varsity playing time before 9th grade does not count towards player's 4 years of HS eligibility, and also does not count as Varsity playing time at said school against player's HS eligibility, meaning 8th graders and below who play Varsity can change schools before the start of 9th grade without penalty, since they were never enrolled at the HS.
  8. Let me stop you right there. Those were not the top teams in the state at that tourney.
  9. Quote from GRC coach in Enquirer "It was a whole different level for our girls," Cantrell said. "Northern Kentucky has a good style of volleyball. We haven't seen anyone like that this season, and we froze up." Again, I suggest GRC, Mason, Bracken, Pendleton, and any other 10th team that isn't scheduling Camp Co, Scott, and Brossart to do so during the regular season to better prepare teams come post-season. IMHO, rather be 15-15 having faced better competition, than 25-5 and played no one, then freeze when it matters most.
  10. ND defeats Highlands 25-11, 25-4, 25-9 per KHSAA Ryle defeats Dixie 25-19, 25-9, 25-17 per KHSAA Did anyone expect different results? Sets up a big one on Thursday between ND and Ryle. NCC vs Cooper on Wed should also be interesting.
  11. Records mean nothing in volleyball. Teams get a fat record feasting on weak teams, instead of getting ready for post-season. Who you play in the regular season is what matters. That said, I think Raceland wins.
  12. If the future is indeed bright as you say, then why doesn't Bracken County schedule more Region 10 teams in the regular season to prepare them for the playoffs? If you want to beat Camp Co and Brossart, you need to play them.
  13. I suppose success is relative and subjective. Raceland has won their region twice in the last 13 years. Not sure if "dynasty", "winning tradition", or even "another Region Championship" apply here, although technically I guess that last one does. Russell and Ashland Blazer would probably argue with you.
  14. People used to dress-up in their Sunday best to take a flight, now they don't even bother taking a shower. Families used to sit down for a meal at 6pm every night, now it's maybe 1 night a week. Teams used to practice in the heat with minimal water breaks and players would run every day until they threw-up. Now someone would get arrested if they tried that. Stuff changes. 15 years from now, someone will be saying how disciplined this year's team was.
  15. Because they drew a team they beat? And avoid both Ryle and ND?
  16. Yes, NCC drew the best district loser, a team they to beat. NCC lost to Beechwood. Was NCC hoping to draw Dixie? And Cooper lost to all 3 possible 1st round teams - ND, St. Henry, and NCC. But won the most sets against NCC. I don't see how there was a better draw for them.
  17. The wind aided Cru in 2nd half, CCH missed at least 2 wide open easy goals in each half, the announcer was a non-factor, and the Cru goalie absolutely flipped off fans/crazies - it was easy to see, didn't hear any foul language barbs thrown at him from stands to warrant that. On the other hand, Cru goalie kept his team in the game with some amazing saves, plus the stops in the shoutout, so more power to him. CCH took not smart infractions at the wrong time - the free kick goal at end was due to a push/hold 60 yards from the goal. Why did CCH change goalies for shoot out?
  18. Cooper, Newport Catholic, and St. Henry have to be happy with this draw, avoiding both Ryle and ND.
  19. Scott and CC meet in finals. Scott wins. No one else has a shot.
  20. Which goes back to the Rivers decision to not play for Highlands.
  21. 25-20, 25-21, 25-21 per KHSAA. Was it as close as scores indicate?
  22. Scott will win Region 10. Most complete team in Region.
