Read the way yours is stated and the way mine is stated. On the KHSAA website it does not say a 14 year old can't play against other 7th graders or below. It says a student cannot be 14 before Aug. 1 of their 7th grade year and play against 7th graders. There's a big difference in the two.

Feel free to visit the KHSAA website yourself and read it exactly as it is stated. 8th graders cannot be 15 before Aug. 1 and play any MS sports. 7th graders cannot be 14 before Aug. 1 and play against 7th or 6th graders 6th graders cannot be 13 before Aug. 1 and play against 6th graders and below.

Replacing that LB'ing core will be hard and until that duo is established I see the defense going thru some growing pains, however small. Those two, Hatfield and Dakota Stanley, could flat stuff the run and really came into their own dating back to the end of last year. To say they'll be missed is an understatement. On offense, obviously, replacing Austin Hatfield will be very hard to do. We'll miss Macky and Drew very much, too, but there are some younger Pirates waiting in the ranks to fill those voids. Somebody has to step up and be the MAN that totes the rock. I'm not quite sure who that will be.

His brother-in-law is an awful good guy, too. Rest assured, anything he's told you about the character of Austin Hatfield is easily understood if you get the chance to meet him. He's the kind of kid that I hope my son resembles when he grows up, and I say that with no football reference in mind. But if he were to play the game with the pride and passion of Mr. Hatfield, while staying humble, I'd be all the more proud.

That's the bottom line and anyone who fails to recognize this fact doesn't really know anything at all about high school athletics.

Opinions vary but I'm of the opinion that a healthy Catron makes this Belfry team a lot better on both sides of the ball. By no means am I saying that him being injured caused us to lose, but he's the kind of kid who takes pride in blocking, carrying out fakes, and doing the little things on offense to help make things click. He's a stronger runner than all the others mentioned not named Hatfield, too. On D you gotta wonder how long it would've taken Pikeville receivers to start worrying about where Cateon is as opposed to catching the football. He's got a knack for making the big hit and will make most HS receivers think twice about coming over the middle.

You're vastly overrating this Pikeville team IMO. It would be a running clock sometime in the third quarter against the 2011 or 12 team, and they'd lose competitively to the 2010 team. If we don't see a running clock by the third quarter this year then it's a big let down to me and numerous others.

Belfry 35-7 befor the starters are pulled.

I like the Pirates to win and I hope the staff/team use this game as an opportunity to make a big statement.
