  1. I am not sure what the issue is. Apparently they are succeeding doing both right now. Let them finish out their high school years enjoying every moment.
  2. I am not taking anything away from their size,, they do look good in their uniform. However, I saw them play against Cooper and they were beaten solidly on both sides of the ball. It may have been an off game or Cooper's scheme exposed a few weaknesses,, but I think a big improvement is needed if they are going to be a dominant line.
  3. I was just wondering what could be holding back the upgrade of the fields. I saw on another thread where both Southwestern and Pulaski were getting turf fields. However,, I'll get back on topic,, is there a front runner for the Boone position? Have they started interviewing? I have seen some previous posts that Coach Brown may not be ready.
  4. Does anyone have insight on if the building of new schools hampered the BOE's decision to upgrade the athletic facilities in Boone County. In the past years, Boone was renovated and added on to,, Camp Ernst was built,, Cooper was built,, Ockerman renovated,,Longbranch Elementary was built,, does all that money come from the state or does the county have to chip in. My thinking is that all that expansion has to seriously limit the amount of funds available to upgrade the fields.
  5. Who is the leading candidate for the starting job at Cooper. I have heard of Hendrix but not the other two. Have the other two kids you mentioned gotten any time under center this year? Will Cooper have another year of having a QB for just one season.
  6. Ben has been with the program for a while but I am not sure in what capacity. Does he have the coaching resume to step in and keep rebuilding the program?
  7. I agree,, Coach Griff is a class act. I wish him well with his new coaching opportunity at Barren County.
  8. Not pot stirring at all,, just replying to the comments that have been posted.
  9. Quite honestly, the last time I saw the Morgan kid play was during the Freshman Football title game a few years ago. The only time I saw the O'hara kid play this year was against Cooper. So I have no opinion one way or the other. My posts on here have been from the outside looking in and it appears to me that he is just being overlooked by the insertion of the Morgan kid into the equation. Having coached football and seeing a number of situations like this,, it is never good. All of this gets back to the kids and puts undue pressure on one and feelings of being disregarded on the other. It can tear apart the locker room if its not dealt with. Having said that, I believe I would give the O'Hara kid the edge in this situation because he has seen and felt the rush from defenses on a 6A level. He knows the system and will have a year under his belt,, so he should be more comfortable. I take nothing away from Morgan,, but I believe he will take some time adjusting to the talent in 6A. To anoint him as the front runner really shoots down all the work that has been done by O'hara and any other QB that has spent a year working hard and learning a new system. Especially since the Morgan kid has not played a down of varsity football for the program. Even though I think it would be better suited for him,,, that would be like saying now that the McGregor kid is back,, we will make England a lineman,,, even after he carried the team last year. That is my only point
  10. That is a lot of faith to put in a kid that has been playing 1A Ball the last few years. I guess if he does not do well,, the fan base will be questioning the "competency" of the receivers. I like how the Ryle faithful is totally dismissing the O'hara kid over there. He is bigger, mobile, and has been in the system a full year. I would be surprised if it is as easy you all are making it seem for the Morgan kid to get the starting nod. I know competition is a good thing, but the way I have seen all the posts from the Ryle faithful is that there is no competition, that the Morgan kid has been handed the keys to the kingdom
  11. I have seen the England kid play and if Ryle is putting their hopes in him running the ball they are in for a long season. I still believe they are playing him out of position,,, he would be much better suited to be a tight end which I believe he has had much success early on. The Bateman kid and McGregor kid should take over the running duties,, put all your talent on the field at the same time and make teams play the entire field. Now I know I will come under attack for this and it is ok,, but I think teams would welcome a slower back like England than the speed of Bateman and McGregor
  12. I have not seen this kid play but from what I am reading the consensus is that he will help out the program at Ryle. My only question would be is how he will adjust playing 6A ball.
  13. Any word on the QB from Dixie? Has the Moore kid been offered by anyone?
  14. Obviously you did not know Coach Griffith,,, the man is a student of the game and KNOWS football. His two years were hampered by injuries and a serious lack of talent. If you recall the downturn started under Coach Thompson. Without talent,, no coach can put together a competitive team. Unfortunately the talent issue does not appear to be changing anytime soon. Whoever the next coach will be will find a very empty cupboard.
  15. Its an interesting choice his parents have made. They have put him in a difficult spot as a player. If they win, he could get more credit than he deserves which could upset his teammates because it dismisses the work the current team has put in. If they lose, then it is the same except in reverse. I don't know the kid or the situation but I hear his dad has shopped him around trying to find the best possible spot for him to come in and play. What does that say to the #2 QB there right now, what type of issue or problem does this cause with the parents if the new kid does not win the starting QB spot. I think the teams that he did not choose to play for should take a sigh of relief. I cannot imagine what all comes with a player who has that history before he takes one snap.
  16. Nicely put,,,, I had no idea the program had accomplished so much in such a short period of time. I hope the team has continued success.
  17. I am new to Bluegrass Preps but I think the real tragedy here is that instead of commenting about the season the Jags had,, the majority of this thread is talking about a player getting pulled from the game and a parent who is upset about it. Everyone is saying the same thing,, that the player getting pulled did not affect the outcome of the game so apparently whoever went in covered the position sufficiently. This team had a great season,, I do not think they were predicted to go this far and for that we can be happy for what they accomplished. Apparently,, the coaching staff made some great adjustments to get this far with such a young team. I applaud the Cooper coaching staff and all the players on a great season. You can be proud of the efforts you made,,, keep working hard and hopefully you can make another run next year.
  18. I was not at the game tonight but it sounds like this happened at a pretty critical moment. I can only assume that the way you are sounding off,, you must have some connection to the player. However,, I applaud Coach Borchers for making a move like this in a game of this magnitude. There is something missing in the coaching ranks today,, we have gone to a win at all cost and excuse whatever behavior a player does. This will go a long way in developing the culture in this locker room when a coach says we will not tolerate bad behavior in any situation. In my time I have seen too many parents satisfied with the team losing so long as their kid gets to play. You mention that the coach is too controlling. Well anytime you take a team with a losing record to the Semi-state the next year,, I will take that type of controlling coach as I am sure other programs will. Great run Jags,, your community is proud of you. Good luck next year.
  19. My heart is with Cooper but my head says Anderson. If Anderson stacks the box and makes Cooper pass it may be a long night for the Jags. I do not think Cooper's QB is accurate enough to keep Anderson from blitzing. As a result,,I think Anderson takes a page from Campbell's game plan and makes Cooper's QB try to win it with his arm. That will allow them (Anderson) to win a close one 21-14
  20. SK was rolling over opponents prior to their first meeting and maybe they took Dixie too lightly and got surprised. I do not think that happens this game. I think this a much closer game than the prior meeting with the winner not being decided until the 4th quarter. I still predict Dixie to win but would not be surprised if SK pulls out a victory
  21. I think it comes down to which Cooper team shows up. If it is the team that I saw play Ryle and Scott,, then I think it will be a long night for Woodford County. If it is the team that showed up against Dixie,, I would expect a quick exit for Cooper from the playoffs. I am pulling for our local boys to do well,, outside of Highlands,, I do not think NKY Football gets much respect from the rest of the state.
  22. Does anyone know if the Moore kid from Dixie has any offers?
  23. I will not go as far to say that Cooper is horrible,, but this is not the team I saw play against Ryle or Scott. The defense that was running around and hungry was not the team on the field. From what I saw tonight was a team that appeared to lay down on their coach. Over and over I saw their coach meet them on the field trying to get them up and motivated and they walked around lifeless. There was one team that showed up to play tonight,, unfortunately for Cooper,, they were wearing red. I asked the question a couple of weeks ago if the wheels on the Cooper bus were getting loose. From the way they played tonight,, I would not be reserving the bus to Bowling Green as of yet. This team does not look primed for a run in the playoffs,, which is a shame because I thought they would be a contender from how they looked at the beginning of the season.
