  1. I will agree,, I think they need a more diverse offense to really keep the defense guessing. I only got to see them play once last year against Cooper. Even though it may not have been their best game,, IMO their offense lacked the big play capability to get them back into the game once they were down.
  2. In cases like this, I think you go with the smarter kid. Whoever knows the system the best and can remain calm in the tough times of the game. I got to see Cooper play a couple of times last year and they appeared to not use their quarterback much to run the ball. If that is the case, maybe a more pocket oriented qb may be better suited. If he is a junior, they will not be changing qb's year after year and build some stability at that position. Just my opinion.
  3. I think Cooper is going to surprise many teams this year. I would be surprised if they go 3-7. I would say 6-4 is more realistic.
  4. I wish Coach Steele good luck. I hope the Rebel faithful get behind him and support the program. It may take some time to really get the program back on track.
  5. I am not saying that Cooper will beat SK this year, I just do not think it will be a walk in the park
  6. Is anyone else surprised that this job is still open?
  7. I think Cooper is going to be much better than people are giving them credit for. I have seen on another post that Cooper was without 11 starters when they played last year. That may be a tougher game,, especially since they beat both Ryle and Boone last year.
  8. Easier schedule than in the past. I thought it was good to see one of the NKY schools venture across the river and play. Was there a reason the coach decided to drop the Ohio schools from the schedule?
  9. IMO O think you will see Highlands come back to the pack somewhat over the next few years. They no longer accept "tuition" students. So now,, to go to Highlands,, you have to live in the Highlands district. It will be interesting to see how that all unfolds. Additionally,, I think what Bowling Green has done speaks to the program they have installed. I have much respect for what they have achieved. I think what they have done with the kids that live in their district is much more impressive than say an St. X or Trinity. I take nothing away from the St. X or Trinity programs. Both schools have done a great job at putting forth teams that are exceptional. My only point for my earlier post was to see if they could achieve the same result with a finite district to pull from. Maybe they will,,, maybe they won't but it would be interesting to see. However,, as long as they can get players from all over they will have a greater chance at repeating.
  10. No one is saying they do not put in the work,, you do not maintain a level of excellence over time without a good system in place. However, I would like to see how the programs would fair if they only had a certain district to pull from. I am not saying their record would be any different,, but you have to admit,, as long as you can go out and get the players you want,, you do have somewhat of an advantage.
  11. I think Dixie drops down to 5A next year,, but I will think Cooper High School needs to be in the discussion, they made the Semi State last year in 5A and are moving up to 6A next season. They have a lot of returning starter coming back. They could make things a little interesting towards the end of the year.
  12. I agree,, with all they have coming back,, they will be getting some attention come playoff time. They will not be "under the radar" very long. I would love to see them make a deep run into the playoffs. However,, I think they may need to "modernize" their offense to make it all the way to Bowling Green
  13. I think if they find a coach that has a respectable resume and experience,,, it will go a long way to restore belief in the program.
  14. I hope they have plans to "modernize" their offense. I think for them to fully reach their potential,, they may need to diversify the way they move the ball down the field.
  15. Be on the look out for Scott High School as they drop down from Class 5A. They have a lot of returning players and should make some noise in 4A. IMO they should be in the mix come playoff time.
  16. Or keep the game with Cooper,, I think that would have been an interesting match up this year with both programs having so many returning players
  17. Does anyone have any news on what is going on with the Boone County job. Its been pretty quiet, there have not been any rumors on who is even the front runner for the position.
  18. Interesting,,, I guess the little league team out of Chicago should keep their title as well. I think if you cheat,, there has to be a penalty just to keep the integrity of the game. I think the Administration should think more of their kids than to put them in that situation in the first place.
  19. I thought the previous post was referring to Coach Griffith,, not the former coach at Barren County. I know Boone County wanted Coach Griffith to stay at the helm of their program. He elected to leave and take the Barren County job,,,and he is a quality coach with a lot of football knowledge.
  20. The HC did not lose his job,, he chose to leave on his own. The school wanted him to return,,and they got a quality coach in Coach Griffith.
  21. IMO,, I think he would create a match up issue. He would be probably covered by a LB who could not run with him.,, get him out into space where he would be even more of a threat and difficult to bring down 1 on 1. Similar to what I have seen them do with him on K/O. I don't think they totally abandon him running the ball,, that would not be a great use of his talents. However if McGregor is in the backfield,,, having England at the TE gives Ryle another weapon on the field that teams would have to account for. It could be special package for certain situations.
  22. Is Eric Wright(sp) kid still at Ryle? If so, does he figure to get any carries this year? Is there any thought of putting England back at TE since he had so much success there? His size gives him some versatility to play a couple of positions.
  23. Nice thread,,, I think this is truly what a message board is supposed to be used for. No negative comments,, or personal attacks,,, just a free exchange of ideas. Nice job everyone!!
  24. Be on the look out for the McGregor and Bateman kids at Ryle,, I think their carries will increase this year.
