  1. I doubt that the gray, gloomy clouds... or the weather for that matter... will affect the actual game. No doubt air traffic control at the heli-pad at Tower Park will be busy as usual. And Thursday odds are that we'll hear about tears and train wrecks regardless of the outcome. But Wednesday, for 80 minutes or so, the players on each team will show up for what should be an excellent game of soccer.
  2. Based on a quick survey, I'm not sure any team in northern KY has a lower recorded assist rate than Scott. It may have been a problem in the past, but the assists don't look inflated this year. Looks like NCC has the highest assist rate coming in at almost 87%. No doubt attributable to their lethal throw-ins, corners and free kicks, which are unnerving for teams that don't defend set plays well.
  3. Scott goals assisted 59% of time. CCH goals assisted 81% of time. 3 years ago Scott had a 100% assist rate and one game Treadway's goals plus assists was greater than the total Scott goals in the game (i.e., he was credited with an assist on a goal he'd scored). Hard to say this year that Scott's stats look questionable. In fact, an 81% assist rate itself would be considered dubiously high, if we didn't all know how dominating the CCH possession game can be.
  4. Morgan is very good and plays a big role for Scott. I think Dumaine has to negate Morgan in midfield if Camels are to be at all successful, which would require a more defensive set than normal. Augspurger will be good for at least one, maybe two, goals for the Camels, but if they don't set their mind to defending Scott will score 4 or more. I'm sticking with 4-2 Scott.
  5. Last year Maher had 14 out of 15 of the girls State games picked right and had a perfect15 out of 15 of the boys State games picked correctly. Not too shabby.
  6. 9-1 CCH. Tenacious (packed in) defending fails to slow CCH down, but Holmes gets one... somehow.
  7. Too close to call. I'll predict 1-1 after regulation. No winner in OT... decided on PKs.
  8. Goals by Sellers and Gesenhuse. Shutout #8 for Breslin. Good result on Senior night.
  9. Schneider with 2 goals, eight others with 1 goal each. Treadway indicated as having played.
  10. Well done Cooper! Sounds like it was an exciting game.
  11. All District games for seeding are supposed to be complete by end of day Wednesday. With that said, by a majority vote of schools each District may stipulate as to where in Bracket teams are placed. District #35 doesn't have a District seeding plan posted on KHSAA so who knows. The default for an unseeded 4 team District is random draw. It may not make a difference for CCH, but I'd think that at least Holmes and Latin would favor a random draw.
  12. I think the bigger field at NKU tips things in favor of Brossart who have a little more depth than Cooper. Senior night for Brossart? If so, congrats and enjoy it. Should be a good match.
  13. There are 8 Seniors, 20 Juniors and 2 Sophmores listed on the CCH varsity roster. Many of the Juniors got the bulk of their playing time at JV this season. And there is a talented (and not small) Sophmore class right behind them. Are there additional Juniors on JV beyond the 20 on the varsity roster? Its a nice numbers problem for the program... maybe not so much if you're on the bottom half of either the current Junior or Sophomore class. Maybe it'll be like being deep on the bench as a Senior on the Highlands football team. It does give hope that a NKY soccer team might break the apparent Louisville / Lexington lock on boys soccer championships.
  14. Winning both is enough to make that statement. Winning both with squads as deep and talented as they both are... I think makes them clear favorites.
  15. Was this on a corner or another dead ball play by any chance? The mostly hidden CCH player appears to be traveling left to right and has his arm extended straight out touching, but probably not touch-tight, the white player's back (see pic in post #52). Can't tell what happens next... we need Zapruder frames 310-313 and even then it might not be clear. But it is possible that there was contact from behind that contributed in moving the white player into the keeper. Or maybe not. I don't know. I wasn't there. But based solely on the picture it is clear... that its not clear. And it does seem harsh to post a single frame photo from an action sequence and use it to (further) vilify a 17 or 18-year old kid.
  16. #7 (Soph) in midfield and #11 (Jr) up top if they can generate anything against CCH. Public school, not in top 20 coaches poll, driving in from Indiana... gotta be CCH.
