Impressive score line by Dunbar over #8 Maher ranked Tates Creek. Was it as devisive a win as the score indicates?

Not sure how that relates to the game played last night, but boast on... everyone loves a gracious winner. -
Teams can stipulate by majority vote to a District seeding plan of their choosing. It probably makes sense if you have a 4 team District with two very weak and two very strong teams to dsignate the 1/2 and 3/4 seeds. Might make less sense in a 4-team District with only one very strong team. Say, what is the District seeding plan on the boys side in District 35... it isn't posted to the KHSAA site.

Here's the one I don't get. The Center will often tolerate language and comments from players on the field that are directed at the Center under the theory that they can choose to have a thick skin as long as it's not heard off the field. But as soon as language or comments are directed at an AR or made loud enough that the Center thinks they can be heard off the pitch, then a card is issued. Similarly, once post-season hits the standard of what language will be accepted seems to tighten up (same thing happens in state cup play). In my experience, 16-17 year old boys are not the best at making nuanced judgment calls like when they might be uttering explicit language in a volume that is too loud. Adopting a bright line rule regarding language and applying it consistently would make it simpler for the boys to manage. You could add the George Carlin's 7 Dirty Words List to the pregame talk.

Arguing who had more possession in a 0-0 tie... it's like two high school boys debating who had the best dance moves at the fall dance when they both went straight home afterwards to play League of Legends on-line. Congrats to both teams. Sounds like it was a great game and both teams could do well going forward. Hoping for a rematch in Regional finals! -
Congrats on advancing Cooper.

The NCC player landed on the ball in bounds and it ended up in his hands. I think it would have been a no-call/throw-in if the ball had ended up out of bounds, but it didn't so that option wasn't available. I certainly could see it being called a foul against Highlands, but it wasn't (called a foul). NCC scored its goal on free kick following a foul given by Highlands... the Highlands player thought it was shoulder-to-shoulder, but the ref thought his arm came up. You can argue it should have been a no-call, but a foul was called. Darn officials... they ruin every game.

State bracket from Regionals forward is already posted on KHSAA website... sports/soccer/state tournament. So you can see what path the various Regional Champs would have to travel to state finals (e.g., Region 9 hosts Region 11 and then winner travels to Lexington to face Region 1/3 winner). Regional brackets get drawn and posted after Districts (this Sunday?). That's the short version.

It would be nice if there was some type of Mercy Rule on BGP... Good luck to both the HHS and NCC teams tonight! -
Lafayette takes Dunbar to OT? That's surprising. Anyone know if it was at all close?

Campbell County had only been shut out once before this season. 7-0 is a dismantling. Well done!

Good point. Let me rephrase... NCC will represent well as the #2 from the 36th District.
-
NCC will draw one of the three other District champs in Regionals. Very likely the toughest #2 in Regionals.

4-2 Scott... in a wild one... with all goals and assists recorded accurately. -

I think it will be 4-2... curiously I think that will be both the card count as well as the goal count. -

Ah... I thought that if the shooter had to beat a defender before shooting that it was scored without an assist. I knew Ballow didn't get his own assist... I guess keeping stats is as much art as science. -

I wonder if Ballow's goal described in post #4 of the CCH v SK thread should have been awarded an assist. It appears it was. If he passed it to himself playing it over the charging keeper I'm not sure I would have awarded one. Maybe one of the CCH stats checkers can look into it for us. Sorry... almost any thread on the boys side if it goes long enough will eventually morph into a Scott, CCH (or more likely) Scott-CCH thread.... -

If we're being honest it's not really about "deserve"... it's more a matter of entitlement. When a parent invests as much time, money and personal identity into their kid's athletic career, aren't they entitled to see their child be successful? That's why Club soccer is so much better. When the situation is not right you can simply move your kid to a new team or Club (if you can't get your current Club coach fired).
