I'm leaning towards KCD as well. But this matchup keys my interest because of how close the WEB Dubois game was and then how well they handle KCD. District 2 is going to be the Wild West this season.

The Battle of two Class 1A foes, Williamsburg sits at 3-0 after a forfeit win over Frankfort. So basically they got a bye week. Sayre is also coming off a bye week as they sit at 2-0 on the season. Sayre has already made a statement this season with a huge road win over the Defending Champions. Williamsburg is looking to make one wins huge win over Sayre. Sayre won last years matchup 41-16. Does Williamsburg shock the 1A world with a win here? Does Sayre get another big road win?

Kentucky Country Day rebounded nicely last week with a huge win over Spencer County on the road 42-41. They welcome in DeSales who just lost a heartbreaker to Louisville Holy Cross in overtime 27-24. Who wins this cross town matchup? Does Kentucky Country Day keep its momentum going forward? Does DeSales steal a huge road win?

Louisville Holy Cross sits at 3-0 after another battle tested game winning in overtime 27-24 over DeSales. Jeffersontown sits at 2-1 on the season with its lone loss to Rockcastle County 38-7. Can Louisville Holy Cross improved to 4-0 on the season? Does Jeffersontown come across town and steal a road win?

Newport Central Catholic is still looking to get that elusive first win of the 2026 football season. They are on the road again this week to take on Boone County who sits at 2-0 on the season looking to remain unbeaten. Newport Central Catholic has losses to Lloyd Memorial (21-3) and Paintsville (22-7). Boone County has wins over Holmes and Saint Henry. Who wins this matchup? Newport Central Catholic or Boone County?

For Hazard to win this game they need to continue what they've been doing and that's not turn the ball over. Through 2 games the dawgs haven't turn the ball over none (except turnover on downs). Ball Efficiency has been good for the dogs early this season. They are averaging close to 37 points per game. Now I don't expect them to get to that in this game. I'm looking at the 17-24 range at the most. Defense needs to be better in the passing game as Whitley County could have had some passing yards in the game if the kids make the catches. Those catches were mostly wide open as a defender was at least 3-7 yards off the play. I need to see those DBs stick with there assignments

Be tough this week to to top that 1 vs. 2 matchup. But a few quality games this week. Hazard vs. Prestonsburg, Louisville Holy Cross/DeSales, Kentucky Country Day/Spencer County, and Paintsville at Eminence( talked about team in the late July).

Paintsville picked up a huge win last week at home over 1A #9 Newport Central Catholic. Paintsville is hoping this win puts 1A on notice. Paintsville won the matchup 22-7. This week the Panthers travel to Eminence to take on the Warriors. The Warriors have been a hot topic this summer and looking to make a name this season in 1A. Does Paintsville come to town and put that talk to rest? Does Eminence get that signature win and put 1A on notice?

Hazard has opened up the Jordan Amis Era 2-0 on the season. They will be looking to make it 3-0 this week as the Prestonsburg Blackcats come to town. They sit at 1-1 on the season. They beat county foe Betsy Layne in week one, and lost last week to Pikeville in the Pikeville County Bowl. Hazard will be looking to avenge last years loss to the Blackcats. Who wins this 1A vs 2A matchup? Does Hazard move the Jordan Amis Era to 3-0? Does Prestonsburg take last weeks frustration out on the Bulldogs?
