It is essentially Belfry, Pulaski County, and then everyone else.... Those two have a legitimate shot at State Championships; the rest of the field not so much.

Their offense is a lot better this year than it is been in years past. When they utilize the passing and running attack evenly, they are very explosive. But they seem to struggle when they become more one-dimensional. One thing has been evident as well, and that is that they are at least three touchdowns better when they're starting quarterback is healthy. His ability to run and pass the ball Is essential to their success.

First, you better check their defensive stats the past 3 seasons, not just this season. They have been the #1 or #2 defense the past three years in the State. Secondly, who says JC was really the #1 team in 4A? That is debatable within itself, so an Ashland loss by 1 to them means nothing to me....

Honestly, I would prefer to see a matchup against Ashland. I would love to watch Quinten Baker play. Either way, I am not sold on either team considering their offensive woes their last game. If they can't score on each other, how will they score on what might be the #1 defense in the state?

I love how Purple88 made this whole post about South Warren Fans instead of the team.... Fans are not upset about winning and never will be.

Should be a tough fought game and a great measuring stick for where both teams are at this point going into the playoffs.

I believe Colton has 2-3 D2 offers plus interest from 1 or 2 D1 schools. Cummings has an offer from Campbellsville University with lots of interest from Walsh University, Univ. of Indianapolis, KY Wesleyen and a few others. Hayes has interest from a few D-1 schools. I am not sure about the others. No commitments to my knowledge....

Not saying it will solely be the fault of the coaches.... The parents, kids, and administration have to do their parts as well. Coaches are one piece of a larger puzzle, but, just like a puzzle, if any one piece is not there, the puzzle cannot be complete.

First, why are you speaking specifically to D1? Second, you do know and understand that D1, D 1-AA, D2, and NAIA all offer football scholarships don't you?? Third, I believe Colton, Jacob Lacey, Jacob Wilde, Zach Haynes, CJ Hayes, and Rider Litten all have D1 potential based on size, speed, strength, etc. But as the saying goes "You aren't D1 until you have a D1 offer," so by that logic, none of them are currently D1. However, as I have stated before, D1 IS NOT, the be all end all.

Thank you for bringing 4th Qtr experience and Stamina into the conversation. A point that I had missed on. I believe that was a huge factor in Souths loss to Central last year in the Semi Final. Starters were not used to playing those extended minutes. I am in no way saying that every starter should play every play regardless of the score, but what most of you all do not realize is in 3-4 games starters have been benched 6-7 minutes into the 2nd Quarter. And most other games they have not played after halftime. I love the fact that the team is winning, but there is more to football than JUST FOOTBALL. Gotta take care of the human factor...

Maybe on an average high school team, but these guys are not average. Most of their starters have the ability to play College football whether D1, D1 AA, D2, etc....

Players that play contact sports get hurt. Doesn't matter whether it's first quarter or the last quarter. Most of South Warrens injuries took place against Central Hardin in the 1st or 2nd Quarter, so length of time they play is irrelevant....

I agree that it can be a tough decision for a coach because at the end of the day their goal is to win games. But having coached sports for many years myself at a very high level, I also understand the importance of doing what it takes to ensure the success of my players after they leave my team. You are correct in stating that it takes a lot more than game film to be recruited, but you are incorrect in believing that is what I am referring to. I am referring to tangible statistics. I have spoken to many college coaches personally, and regardless of common opinion, coaches tell me STATS DO MATTER. Coaches want to know how many receptions, carries, tackles, yards, etc a player has per game because this speaks to their overall effectiveness/importance on a football field. As good as SW is, compare their players statistics to those of any other Top 5 team in the State, and you will see a huge difference. SW has, arguably, the #1 Linebacker in the State right now, and he doesn't have a Single D-1 offer yet ??(Yes, there is nothing wrong with D2 and etc, but he is easily D1.... ) At the end of the day, all I am saying is that most of these kids are playing football to earn a College scholarship. Therefore it is wrong of any coaching staff at any school to want their players to give them 110% commitment over the course of 4 years and sacrifice their own individual needs for the betterment of the team, but not do your part as a coach to put your SENIORS in a position to go to school for free. Some may disagree, but IMO, coaches first responsibility is taking care of their athletes.

You saw a scaled down SW team.... Not sure why, but the offense was pedestrian compared to what it has been and can be. The Spartans didn't use their full Arsenal in this game. McElwain and Cummings are the two leading receivers on the team but weren't thrown a pass. Colton and Houchins are very good change of pace RBs that didn't even get the chance to touch the ball (other than Coltons Defensive TD). As for pulling the starters early, fans were confused as well.... I think it has something to do with both head coaches being close friends and College teammates. But this does the Seniors on this team playing for Scholarships no favors. Many of these guys are trying to find a way to pay for their College education, but barely play half a football game each week. In a normal situation, most of their stats would be at least double what they are now by this point in the season...

There are MANY more than just McElwain.... Colton, Hayes, Houchens, Namvong, Lacey, Cummings (leads the team in all purpose and receiving yards).... A TEAM this good is far more than any 1 or 2 players. 2015 Kentucky High School Football

Actually he started and played in the SW game, but he just like 6 SW players were injured during the course of that game.

South had 139 yards after losing their leading WR after their starting QB, leading WR, and starting DT/Offensive Lineman went down in the 1st half. Let's not ignore those realities.

Let me explain my reference to Sporting Times Magazine.... It's not that you, or them, don't highlight the successes of other schools. It's that it takes an act of GOD for you to feature/highlight the successes of other schools over BG (even when it's earned). And then the 1-2 times you happen to do it, you quickly about face to shine the spotlight on BG again after certain influences.... Now, I fully believe that you are entitled to your opinion due to you being a casual high school sports fan just as I am, so I am not upset or angry about your rankings. But seeing as this is a public forum, I am entitled to my opinion as well. That's where you and Sporting Times differ... they are supposed to be impartial due to being the Media, yet their coverage is 10-1 BG to every other school in their area. Sad.... I have gotten completely off topic. Please excuse me. SMH! To your point earlier about "If you, lose you drop." How then does an undefeated team drop after being #1 and NEVER losing? Furthermore, what's the point of BG dropping if they will be promoted back to 1st whenever you feel like doing so?

If South played BGs schedule, I don't think they would have a loss. I have said since a few weeks ago that 5A is down this year so a hyped up win over Owensboro in a game that they REALLY should have lost doesn't mean a lot to me. Remember, WC played Owensboro close until the Final Quarter, and WC isn't even ranked top 10 in 4A. Furthermore, SW (whilst still injured at key positions) beat a Franklin team by 20 something points that beat WC. I watched BGs game against WC, and saw them not score at all in the 2nd half against a tired and undermanned Warren Central team....

Love what you do, but still don't get the BG over SW ranking.... BG has a loss to a Saint X team that there are still question marks about. SW is undefeated.... Seems pretty cut and dry. And don't gimme any BS about scores against similar opponents and etc unless you are willing to take injuries to key players in key positions into account. I think that the Purple faithful got to you, and convinced you to change your rankings at the first opportunity. And that is sad to me... Just like Sporting Times Magazine, you all are not giving other schools in Warren County any of the Exposure/notoriety that they deserve.... SMH!
