If the ball hits the floor after the tip, it's free to any player. This one came straight down to the jumper before contact with floor.

Ball never hit the floor.

I believe one or both of the jumpers got a small piece, but ball came straight down. Either way, it should have been jumped again, if no touch, or someone outside the circle has to gain possesion first.

A few weeks ago I witnessed one of the worst missed calls I've ever seen. The officials were from the 8th Region. During the initial Jump Ball, the jumper from SK came down with the ball and dribbled up the court. No one outside the circle ever entered the circle and the only players that touched the ball were the two jumpers. It was so obvious I initially thought there must have been a rules change. Three officials and none made the call. A call such as this should never be missed. Officials miss calls during the flow of the game and that's to be expected, but this should never, ever be missed.

I truly believe that the 3 official system has dilluted the stock. Having 3 officials for each varsity game really spreads thin the quality officials that are in the 9th, which I would put at a number of less than 10. This goes for the entire state. I officiated at many levels for close to 20 years, and it's not an easy job and it can be thankless. When you have one quality official out of a 3 man crew, it's very easy for the game to get ugly, especially with the style of play these days. Tough job for the quality/head official to get a 3 man crew on the same page. Way too much inexperience at the varsity level than there should be. The Freshman/JV level seems to have become a starting point for new officials, many of which seem to have minimal knowledge of the game. I honestly feel that new officials need to cut their teeth at the elementary/middle school level, not HS. I blame the system, not the officials themselves. Could be way of base here to some, but this is just my opinion.

Scott's enrollment is 500-600 less than both other Kenton County Schools, so Scott definitely has less of a pool to choose from. Are there currently any impact players for either Dixie or SK that live in Scott's district? Just not sure the "best of the best" are lining up to play at Dixie or SK either.

If I were an HHS backer, I'm not sure I'd be judging/complaining about the cancellation. If/when these two do face off, and both teams are at 100%, there could be a can opened up, and you might not be on the good end of that. Don't beat the beehive with a stick. Think it was best said that HHS was in a no win situation if HC was missing multiple, key players. Just my opinion.

Last Game for Coach Ruthsatz?

Nick led to more sleepless nights for the 9th Region than his dad. -

"Stay on indefinitely", as long as he keeps having kids and they all pan out to be as good as Nick...LOL -

I truely don't know anything about him, and sorry if it came off as if I were taking shots. Not my intention. I'm sure he's a good dude. I was just trying to make the point that this is a huge job, and the qualifications laid out so far would not be good enough. Honestly, I'm not taking shots. If you knew nothing about him, other than he's currently an assistant and he coached at Silver Grove or Ludlow or Bellevue or any other small school that does not factor into Regional Title talks, you'd have to agree with me. I apologize to Tony B. (Whom I do not know) and all his supporters. If this job goes on the market, I would expect much interest from around the state. I mean they brought in a guy from New Jersey the last go around. See my point? -

You do realize the CC head coaching job has just become one of the biggest head coaching jobs in the state, right? Parochial School salary or not. If Silver Grove is his only head coaching experience, then in no way does he qualify. Again, don't know anything about him or how he coaches, but 20 game winner at Silver Grove doesn't mean squat. -

Just because he had a player that turned out to be a D2 Player of the Year does not make him a good coach. Don't know anything about Tony B, but this is no way qualifies him as a good coach. All Bad coaches have a good/great player at some point. -
Are we going back 40 years here, or since the Regional Alignment changes? Scott Co is gone, and Shelby Co hasn't won anything since Cheating Charles Hurt graduated! All I see is that SK nearly won the 8th and they wouldn't be a top 5 team in the 9th region (No offense SK fans). It's ridiculous to make the comparisons that you've made.

Covington Catholic vs. Holmes (9th Region Finals)

If the same HHS team that showed up for the Highlands and Dixie games shows up tonight, the Blue Colonels will win by double digits. If HHS shows up ready to play, it's a toss up. -

Yes, but your high bb IQ made it easy! A lot of these new guys, just not so much there on the bb IQ side. -
Cooper 64 Scott 58 (OT)

Heat of the moment thing, and I'm sure Scott assistant doesn't feel great. Not sure what he said or did, but would think an apology may be forthcoming. As for the PA annoucer, man, he threw gas on a fire. Very immature for a grown man to act in the manner in which he did. I would say he owes an apology to the Scott coaching staff as well. -

I stand corrected. Finally saw the video. The basket was good. Not sure on lane violations, but from the time the ball was tipped to the time it left the shooter's hands, it was about .8 seconds. Amazing! -

Ball was tipped somewhere in the middle of the lane. Tipped ball came off the glass to the left side where McNeil catches and shoots. It was not a tip in. This is exactly what happened. Big question is, can this happen in .9 seconds? Seems unlikely, but what a hard fought game. It will serve both teams well heading into district play.
