It would seem that Conner lost a lot of options and productivity with graduation of Fogle and 90+% of the offensive line. If the current lineman can step up and give Drew and Co time, the offensive should be fine. Defensively is where the Cougars struggle. Even last year you cannot score 50 points a game and lose. That's crazy and hopefully will be addressed. Hammer, chill out. You will be able to see Cameron and Drew again on the field very soon. BBN

Charlie Siffel #1 on list. As junior listed as Top 5 RB in the country. Heavily recruited for the 60's, academics were not a strong suit. Al Major - 1977 QB - I believe only SK QB to ever attain 1st team All-State fantastic player and even better person Miles Simpson - No explanation needed All other listed are pretty good honorable mentions. SK has had a ton of great lineman over the year. This is for the glory boys.

I'm late to this discussion but as an outsider it looks like excuses for mental team toughness. Use the Moneyball analysis, C Fogle is one of the best all around athletes to ever come though Conner. If in fact he was batting .500 and missed 10 games, in which the team lost 8 of 10. Cameron's injury should have encouraged the rest of the team to increase each starters batting average by a small amount to make up the loss of the team best player. Not case other players to be distracted and not be able to hit?? These posts are claiming that Cameron's injury caused a distraction, mentioned in the same paragraph as the meltdown brothers?? Very odd statement. Baseball is a true team sport that relies on all positions in field and at the plate. It sounds like the team may have depended on C Fogle a little too much. Tough parental crowd in Hebron. Just let your kids play and have fun, no excuses.

I would say that Ryle will do very well. They are a solid team. Some of the NKY teams that they have played would also compete well in this tournament. As they say.....Any given day.

TOG - I'm sure most schools to not have a dedicated person that will take on this responsibility. Most schools have trouble getting volunteers for any additional task, other than a "back seat" coach from the stands. LOL

That has made three times a EKU coach has been to watch Mr. Brady Smiley pitch. Each time he has pitched excellent. I wish him the best, EKU would be getting a solid left hander with nothing but upside as he matures even more. As far as grades, in high school sports if grades are indeed an issue then the player must set out from practice or games until another grading period is updated. Usually a week by week event. If grades are an issue, no excuse would be acceptable as too much help is available for tutoring or extra credit. No grades = No play.

Safety squeeze would have been the call. The suicide call was not necessary with 1 out. Cost Cooper the game. BTW: In high school most hitters are not the best bunters because of lack of practice or instruction. If the suicide squeeze was so perfect you would see more major leaguers laying down the suicide bunt. Even millionaires have trouble getting it down. This is HS baseball, take the higher probability of a sac fly or breaking for the plate at contact.

It's sad to watch an athletic director forced to baby-sit adults during a high school event. Then to watch him personally escort both umpires out the back right field gate in order to keep away from the parents. Sweeper; it only cost $4 bucks for this kinda entertainment. Embarrassing situation. BTW: The BC Sheffiff's did make several courtesy laps around the school after the show.

Clyde, I beleive the rule states that unless there is a play at the plate with a ball in transit to the catcher, the catcher cannot block the plate of interfere with the base runner crossing the plate. The ball should have never been thrown to home, should have went to 2b. The throw was actually caught by the pitcher in the 3rd base path after the runner crossed the plate. The catcher for Conner actually blocked the runner with his leg, appeared to try and force a trip. Home plate ump got the correct call for interference. This rule has been in effect for decades in high school and youth baseball.
