Simon Kenton - Top All-Time 3 Players

Featured Replies

From NEERFAN:

Top three is hard for me but I couldn't imagine how hard it would be to pick if we were a football factory.

The best from the first 30 years of SK football would start with Charles Siffel (RB) and Alan Mullins (QB,RB) both with over 3,000 yards rushing. I'd have to give props to Mike Webster (DE), as far as I know he's the only Neer to ever make an NFL camp as a (OG).

After 2000 I have to go with a quartet. Daniel Morrison (RB), 2nd all time rusher with 3,600 yards, the kid was small but electric as a runner. Miles Simpson (RB) 4,900 yards, and Chad Lawrence (QB) 4,800 passing, 2,700 rushing. Jordan Hansel (T), now playing (G) at Ball State will likely be the 2nd Neer with a chance in the NFL.

Make some tough choices and give us a list of 3 Neer?

Being a younger guy, I'd go with Simpson, Lawrence and Hansel. I didn't have the privilege of watching the others on that were listed.

Honorable mention- Austin Baldwin representing the D.

I'm too young to have saw a lot of the guys and will base a lot of this off hearsay from growing up in and around the SK program.

I've always heard that Siffel was great, but had on of the best lineman to play for SK blocking for him. Most at the time believed was the better of the 2.

Miles is on that list for sure, most likely number 1.

Morrison, Justin Bishop, and Josh Elbert all had a pretty great careers for the times at SK.

All of the Nevels brothers can be brought up. Matt Coppage was also a great Neer.

I guess if I had to pick off legend alone it would Miles Simpson, Mullens, and Siffel. Followed by Webster and Hansel.

Who I remember seeing it would be Simpson, Hansel, Morrison.

Charlie Siffel #1 on list. As junior listed as Top 5 RB in the country. Heavily recruited for the 60's, academics were not a strong suit.

Al Major - 1977 QB - I believe only SK QB to ever attain 1st team All-State fantastic player and even better person

Miles Simpson - No explanation needed

All other listed are pretty good honorable mentions. SK has had a ton of great lineman over the year. This is for the glory boys.

Jeff Fogle (Class of 77) Simon Kenton Hall of Famer & State Champ in Track. Played line, biggest guy on the field at prob 220 LBS. If he played today, I'd say he would probably be one hell of a LB or TE. From what I gather from the stories that Al Major told me he used to crush people, and not think twice about it.
