I'm not really buying the idea that conditioning had much to do with the injuries the past couple years. Many of the kids injured were in terrific shape - heck Luke Bir was one of the strongest and most fit kids in the area pound for pound- didn't prevent him from a collarbone injury. Sam Burchell? Athletic freak and well conditioned stud- didn't stop him from an ankle injury. Plenty of other examples contradicting the off season conditioning thing but you get the point. Now I do think there should have been more cardio conditioning in season- but I think it's a stretch to say all the injuries were due to something that was or was not happening in the off season.

This has been covered in other threads. When the head coach goes, so do the assistants. Now whether none, some, all of those assistants come back is up to the new head coach- and obviously dependent on whether they want to come back or not. The football team has continued its off season training at school with the oversight of school admins. After this week the team will attend ASAP until the new staff is on board and training can resume at school.

Well it's not to please you, I can tell you that much. Guru implied this was the reason Wirth was no longer at Cov Cath. I simply implied back, that since he was so sure this was the reason that he must also know the answer to his initial question. It's really this simple- there are two people who know why Dave Wirth is no longer coaching at Cov Cath: a Dave Wirth and Bob Rowe...and even their versions may vary. So we can speculate all day- it's not going to get all the answers but it will generate board traffic.

Very strong Dave Cantrell had Danville rated as the 23rd best team in state (and Holy Cross @12th I think?) Beating them by 35 is a tremendous showing.

So this isn't every 9th region team is it? For instance, I don't see St Henry. Is this an invitation only tourney?

What are the criteria for being a small school? St Henry is 1A- does that count?

I'm not sure what the big deal is regarding the assistant coaches. I would imagine its customary anywhere to basically sever all Asst Coaches once the head coach is gone. Why, as a Principle or athletic director would you promise a position to assistant coaches not knowing if the new coach would want them on their staff? Who the assistants are is up to the new head coach. Whether or not they ask some of the old assistants back is up to them. So it's still quite possible that some of them would be asked back- if they were willing of course.

Weights and conditioning are not suspended. It never ended really other than the couple days last week with the news.

Agree for the most part. Maybe the most complete game St Henry has played from start to finish. Add to that they were missing Paige Noble due to illness and still missing Sammy Hentz to an ankle from the All A tourney and it was a very well played game from the Lady Cru. Shot it lights out from 3. They will need that and then some against Highlands this week to have a chance. Still- they discovered some good things that they can do so I'm hopeful. Didn't see the horrible officiating though. Some some missed calls on both sides but the foul count was almost completely even. Bottom line, it had no bearing on the outcome. The "T" for delay of game was ridiculous however. Basically as the ball came thru the hoop, Lemkuhl caught it going down, then bounced it. Unfortunately when you play in a middle school gym with one baseline bordering a stage and no wall to catch a bouncing ball it will go up on the stage (like it did a dozen other times in this game). Regardless, even if warranted, the protocol should have been to deliver a warning for delay of game then a "T" if done again. The Lady Cru are playing well and I hope they can keep the momentum going- even if it's in a close loss to Highlands. BTW- St Henry Frosh and JV also won yesterday. Some good kids coming up.

Don't see that at all. Wirth is a Cincy GCL guy. He has higher aspirations IMO. And BTW- for anyone from Union to be loosely throwing around the term "mafia" after the drama and train wrecks that have popped up around there the past four years is pretty silly.

Almost certain that the only football coaches that are paid are: head coach, head Frosh coach, O coordinator and D coordinator

Rodenburg (sp?) left on his own for a job in the GCL after two years- with Principal Kline at the helm. Brossart was let go after two years by Kline. Up till this year you'd have to say the results have been mediocre. It still didn't stop the. From getting crushed by Cov Cath this year. Wirth was hired by Rowe 6 years ago- came to some irreconcilable differences. I don't see the drama your trying to make.

If by best, you mean clueless- then I agree.

If your referring to the upcoming Senior class then no- Boone was not better than all the other county schools their Frosh year. Beechwood won the Frosh championship that year against a good bunch from Ryle who beat everyone but Beechwood that year. I'm pretty sure Cooper beat Boone's Frosh that year too- not sure about Conner.

What are the chances we see a 4 page thread about this 50 point win? Slim.

It feels like your being a a bit dramatic about all this. Of course the kids are upset- but you aren't doing them or the program any favors with the dramatics and publishing locker room stuff. The off season program will not stop- a new coach will be found and the kids will be fine.
