UofL seems to be making a concerted effort in recruiting a lot of "homegrown" talent...UK, not so much.

I think it really just comes down to a choice of lifestyle that your family will live for the time your DD is in TB...my wife and I don't have much money, but we manage...I have many friends that have a big family vacation each summer, or regular trips to "the lake", or any other in a list of 100,000 things to spend your money on....we made the choice that each summer we'd have 8 mini vacations on a shoestring budget in our van with 230,000+ miles, caravaning to various far-flung parts of the country, with the same bunch of girls, parents and grand parents, and sweat in the dust, pack our own food, sit in the hotel parking lot to drink beer and tell lies at night and watch our DD grow up working hard at a skill, playing a fun, exciting game that in the end may or may not get a little return on the money spent in the form of a scholarship, but will most certainly teach her (and us) life lessons that can't have a price tag put on 'em. I know this is off topic, and by no way am I demeaning your sentiment, but it can be done without a lot of green. That is all, back to your regularly scheduled broadcast.

I know Doom 96 has the 3 KY girls that Kick a$$ :thumb: ...and the way things played out as far as Josh becoming Male's coach was SO unexpected and fortuitous, all I can do as a Dad is sit back, shake my head and enjoy it.

Louisville Male....she's doing really well....she's lovin' having Josh as her coach now....right up her travel ball alley!! Hell, she might even get to pitch this season!!

in the short time I have spent with Dallis, I think she is an outstanding SS....very smooth and unflappable....looking forward to keeping up with her and Haley this spring on BGP.

you're right....I looked at the matchups and the KY schools have two, but the TN teams have 3, and a few have 4.

Male's going to Beech HS Play Day on 3/9 down in TN....38 TN teams and 2 from KY....think they'll have 3 scrimmages that day....should be fun.

All comes down to the coaches in that regard and what they are willing to do for their team....DD's been going pretty steady, usually 3 days a week, even a couple weeks where they snuck in a fourth and solid through Christmas break, since mid Nov, with damn near full participation.....about half and half strength/conditioning and practice both inside and out.....new coaches have really been building the excitement, and pushing the girls which has led to a few(thankfully, IMO) weeding themselves out....come friday when they put the pedal to the metal the one's that have remained, and make the cut through tryouts will definitely be hitting the ground running....i think the culture of any program, good and bad, comes from the coaches, and the team personality comes from the girls.

Yes she is, and yes we have all is great, it's a TOTALLY different vibe now, and having the KY3 in the circle is going to be a ball for the girls, I believe....I'll look for you up in Elgin for another parking lot meeting!!

Hayley Smith and Dallis Knotts play together on the Doom96 team now along with my DD, and I can personally attest for them....Hayley came in as somewhat of a known quantity, and is playing up to expectations, for sure....Dallis literally had a hospital bracelet on at tryouts (!), but showed something she is full of which is grit, and has proven herself so far this fall through practices and games moving up in the rotation....both of these young ladies have shown that they aren't averse to working hard, and along with our other KY girl, make up a very solid three pitcher rotation......all three showed their stuff down at Lindsey Wilson College this past Sunday, and really did a great job!! I look forward to keeping up with Dallis and Hayley through their spring seasons.

I just read on another forum board that former Mercy Head Coach Josh Bloomer has been named new Head Coach at Male HS in Louisville. Know it's not NKY, but interesting nonetheless.

Why? Aren't scholarships awarded for past performance? If an orginazation determines that person, student, player has earned a gift or prize of a scholarship, then it's their's to use, right? Are there strings attached or stipulations to the Jim Ray Award?

Mercy hired Greg Vorbrink this week. No big surprise there.
