  1. Yeah, she's committred to Penn State. They could use her this season!!
  2. Big Daddy, it's the KSCA poll. Depends on NKY's membership in KSCA. Region 9 is the least represented in the state with only 4 HCs and 4 ACs being members. Most of the coaches come from the Regions 3, 4 & 5, so that will tend to skew those votes to the central/western part of the state, as those coaches have seen, and are more familiar with those teams. 463DP, OC is, IMO, a much more complete and experienced team than Ballard, head to head match up aside. Both very good, but I think OC wins 7 times if they played 10. DD told me there was scuttlebutt about Eastern's senior catcher breaking her arm Wed. night. Don't know the validity of this, and hope it is not the case. I hate to hear when any player suffers an injury like that. Wish they would have rescheduled last night's rain out for tonight. Heard Eastern may have not wanted to. You'd be hard pressed to find a bigger BE fan than me outside of Bullitt Co., and many of those girls know it. As a fan, I WANT them to play a tougher schedule, because of what it can do for them. Their may be some coaches out there that feel the way I do, and are voting higher for them based on what they "can" be more so than what they have done, which is fair I reckon. Male's next game is at Central Hardin. I have seen a little of them, and it is impressive. I know they have 12+ HRs so far this season. I'll tell ya more about them next week. And as far as Manual goes, they wouldn't let me wear a purple hat with a big gold "H" if I didn't talk a little smack about the billy goats!!
  3. Doubt if Manual being run ruled 12-0 by Butler on the 10th factored in either!! How do they get 52 votes? Think Oldham Co. should be above Ballard since they beat them 5-1. Last night's rain out of Male/Eastern would have been a great game and revealed what's what with those two. Hope that one is rescheduled soon. Central Hardin should be higher. Bullitt East should be a couple ticks down until they play some better teams, but I still like them.
  4. jefferson county was off this week, and a few teams went south, but most stayed home. There were a few tournaments and even regular one on one games around here.
  5. Manual not a top 25 team, stretch for them to even receive votes, they have played nobody. Central Hardin should be higher. Bowling Green should be up a couple spots, while Bullitt East should be down a few. Mercy should probably be above O Cath, and Oldham Co. is easily a top 10 team.
  6. Don't think she is straight from SoCal. If she's the one I'm thinking of, I was told she moved here in like 5th or 6th grade from CA, but also lived in CO before moving here. Nice player regardless of where she is from, and will probably do well at Ballard. Don't know where or if she plays travel. Jones is big on keeping his HS team together in the summer as the Diamonds, so that may be a possible answer.
  7. That's a discouraging way to end a game. Sounds like an exciting comeback on the road. Nice win.
  8. oc's tough...they have 5 returning seniors that have played travel ball together since 12U days as oc outrage...leaton is outfilelder heading to dayton, used to to play with so. ky crush out of bowling green, then on some high level indiana travel squads...i picked them to make a good run at state, if their pitching holds up beyond leanhart.
  9. from what i saw this weekend, she is quite a good coach, and should do well over time.
  10. i would have called this an upset if ballard had won...think oc has a better team...both good, though, and would have like to have been there to watch
  11. i'd say ballard, o'boro cath and bullitt east are too high, holy cross is too low, and eastern should be ranked in top 15.
  12. on the first question, yes, have to pitch four balls on intentional walk. NFHS Rule 2-63-1, "No intentional base on balls, all pitches must be delivered" not sure on 2nd
  13. Crap, I thought Dayton was the 14th....we'll have to use that Sat. as a warm up!!
  14. HA! I think miss haylee's game is just fine Can't wait for Dayton!!
  15. Got to brag a little for the DD...go ahead a bag on me, I can take it!! http://bluegrasspreps.com/images/smilies/biggrin.png http://t.co/wirDyIalSB
  16. originally scheduled monday night...played tonight...Male 14, NB 4 in 6 innings
  17. last year was pretty cold at beginning the season, but not much rain...year before that we had a lot of rain...DD played on freshmen team that year also, and they only got in 6 games for the season, and varsity ended up with 28 total games for the season (27 her first year in 2009)....in fact, in the 4 previous seasons she has played varsity, they've never played more than 4 regular games in March, and never started before March 20th, so this season will probably be the same...big difference with new coach over old, in this regard, is new coach has said "we will play our limit of games before districts". Last coach, would leave tournaments early for various reasons and didn't seem to mind that the season would end with under 30 games total, so I don't mind dropping a couple early, non district games...the season is packed with tough tournaments...they'll be made up.
  18. I think if you're talking FLA, then weather could be brought in to the picture, but TN and KY are about the same...plus, weather isn't a factor from April through Oct...my DD's already practiced outside a lot this year...been chilly, but it's been done....and AL's HS schedule, for instance, is only 18 days ahead of KY....it absolutely is a different mindset, and culture for the sport compared to KY....municipally owned and maintained complexes with vibrant youth leagues is the key, I believe....if you build it they will come....over time, those kids will grow into better HS players creating better HS programs, and they will need somewhere to play in the summer, so better travel organizations and opportunities will develop....all of this would create a demand for more REAL, QUALITY COACHES....without that, KY will always languish....my kid will never see the end to that tunnel, 'cause that one's a way down the road....I do wish that for the kid's that are 0-5 years old now, though.
  19. cram packed....I think 40 teams, 12 fields...hour-fifteen drop dead games, so everyone was able to squeeze two opponents into their 3 hour allotment (think TN is like KY in that regard)...girls came out tight as a drum, plus had to play Beech (#4 ranked in TN) right off the bat at 830...gave up 4 unearned in 1st inning, 3 more unearned in 2nd, then settled in...lost 7-3, but only gave up 3 more runs rest of day after that 2nd inning....pitching looked strong and deep with only 2 earned runs in 4 games, and I was impressed by some of the younger girls, I'd never seen play before....think it's gonna be a fun season. It was great doing it like that 'cause it gives the coaches a chance to uncover a lot of things to work on all at once on one day...TN, AL, GA they're all so far advanced over KY when it comes to fastpitch....and good news is no players, parents or coaches were murdered!!
  20. Male ended up 3-1 today in TN at the Beech Play Day today.
  21. Yeah, we're adding extra volunteers for the concession stand
  22. That is a tough one to start with, OC is going to be tough....Male opens up on 3/18 v. No. Bullitt....overall, they will play 17 District Champions, 6 Region Champions and the State Champion from last year....and 1st scrimmage Sat. is against #4 ranked TN team, Beech HS at 830AM....should be pretty battle tested come Region time.
