  1. got to take advantage of the good times while they're here...you know what I mean
  2. Chilly night tonight in Middletown for this Region 7 matchup, but I wanted to see some friends play....Assumption's Madison Sweeny launched a beautiful, towering 2R homer (her 4th in 4 games) in the top of the 1st to put the Rockets up 3-0...the shutout lasted 1 pitch, as Eastern's lead off hitter, Amber Foulks, missile shot the first pitch she saw straight over the CF fence....that was it for the Eagles, though....Eastern's sophomore starter, Boteler, was pretty good in the circle, and didn't allow anymore runs for two more innings....her replacement gave up the remaining 4 runs....Assumption (3-1) and Eastern (2-2) both head to ETown this weekend for the Big M Chevrolet Tournament.
  3. He's a she, and was told she did same thing in a scrimmage last week with same results...it should have been a mercy rule game, as it was heading to be.
  4. Ford, Moran Collect CAA Softball Weekly Honors Nice little trip to the islands.
  5. After getting up 7-1, Assumption coach replaces entire starting infield and pitcher, and Southern comes back to force extra innings :o
  6. Ballard had to rally in bottom of 7th, scoring 3 runs to salvage this one....Senior transfer pitcher, Mercer, was apparently in a car accident this morning, suffered a concussion and is out 4 weeks...that is the report I got...If incorrect, please clarify. Hate to hear of any player get injured like that off the field...She's a sweet kid too...hoping it's only minor.
  7. can't wait....special order to JMU31 for extra solo cups has been placed....for add'l black coffee, of course.
  8. it was Jennifer Leonhardt...she's their #1...and it's softball season, she gives me a pass for the next 3 month
  9. watched this game...pretty evenly matched teams, I thought...FC pitcher threw hard, but was having a tough time staying in the zone, 5+ HBPs and multiple WPs allowed Collins to mount a late comeback...Collins pitcher is a pretty good lefty, and only 7th grade...lot of time for her get better...both teams had some big hits, and both booted and threw the ball around a bit, as well...entertaining game to watch...ended with a bases loaded, walk off SAC Fly by FC's pitcher, who can smack the ball...she had a rocket RBI 3B to dead CF on the first pitch she saw of the new season, and probably only 5'3" max.
  10. Holy Cross (Louisville) actually beat Greenwood 4-3 in a scrimmage Sunday at HC...it was all the rage here in town...Moss didn't pitch until the 4 runs were already on the board, though.
  11. Male went down to Hendersonville, TN Sat. for Beech HS's Play Day again this year...TN & KY have same restrictions on games, so they structure the time to allow 4 opponents...went 4-0 against Clarksville, Hendersonville, Lavergne and Brentwood....Jess wasn't there, she was traipsing around NYC on an Art trip, but I still went to conduct pre-season tailgating inspections.
  12. That's good news...God knows they are barely scraping by for quality players :sarcastic:
  13. lives in west virginia, i hear...big girl....used to play with the wv dusters over there...sounds like she's moving on to bigger a better things if she's trekking down to birmingham for the t'bolts...don't see her playing in the bluegrass once she hits freshman year if she is still living in wv.
  14. interesting...who does OC have as transfers? Either pitch?
  15. not sure I follow ya on that...think he may have or had better players that should have had more play time?....or that he has or is relying on inferior players?....just trying to clarify what you mean by your take things.
  16. Wat to go, kiddo!! Proud and happy for ya!!
  17. that is deepdrive's assessment...i have not seen enough of her to backstop that, but do think she is a good, solid player with a lot of upside.
  18. what i see as mercy's biggest shortcoming will be pitching...now, i clearly have to clarify that statement, because they still have thomas for another 2 years, and she is undisputed top shelf, but she can't pitch every game, nor should she...raymer at BE with that large, strong senior class and another quality pitcher to give her rest, I think, will get it done this year...also, not convinced mercy's latest coaching staff will get them back to owensboro....i won't be as provocative as to say bloomer had two teams at state last spring, but....:whistling:
  19. played with the TN Illusions...good, solid player....think I heard she moved in from CO at some point in last couple years, but don't know if that is the case....ballard has had a few players on the Illusions, I believe.
  20. I predict: 1. Bullitt East (always my sentimental favorite) 2. Mercy 3. Butler fill in the rest
  21. i don't take everything he teaches as gospel, but i have yet to see anyone with his depth of knowledge and ability to impart that to his players...i know my dd loves him as a coach...all that matters to me. just hope he can whip this bunch into shape for last week of May again!!
  22. arguably the toughest region in the state with 6 solid teams...I think in the end it will come down to male or ballard...whichever is hot at the end of may....I know ballard really thought it was their region to take last year (just ask them), but male put an end to that. male has best coach in the state...we can argue it, but my mind won't change...the bulldogs will be prepared and tested...if there was an rpi, male would have been at the top last season and will have just as tough, if not tougher, schedule this year....pitching with wireman and suski and speed from wireman, childress and simon will be strong points...they have a few players including mudd, mciver, luckett and wireman that can bomb the ball, but I don't anticipate that to be a big part of their run scoring. ballard has some outstanding players like adell, parker, kearschner, hall and purcell, but the biggest question for them will be the addition of mercer at pitcher...adell may not be pitching at all...I know she wanted to give it up completely even prior to last year...brill may develop into a good backup, and I even heard that wiseman may be brought back from exile to pitch...on paper they are probably the best team in the region, but they were last year too, and couldn't get past male...they can hit some hrs, but rely more on speed to score runs. sacred heart could be a not so dark horse...the male/sh game last year was easily the toughest game male played in the region tournament, I thought...holden is an outstanding pitcher that can hit...they lost a couple of their best players last year, so we'll see how they fill those spots...biggest knock on sh is schedule...they didn't get many Ws against the better teams last year, but never got blown except for one cold night out at bullit east. assumption will suffer from thin pitching and suspect coaching...fussenger is a great player, and tarquinio and nitzken are always long ball threats, but I don't see them scoring enough to overcome what they will give up. eastern has a good young pitcher in boteler to take smith's spot, and Williams leads an up and coming young manual team...these two may grab a couple upsets during the spring. the other teams in the region don't stack up to me. 1. male 2. ballard 3. sacred heart 4. manual 5. assumption 6. eastern 7. cal 8-15. the rest
  23. i'll take this bait :lol2: ....but give me a few minutes
