Let's talk about some girls that play Short.

 

Madyson Moran, senior Holy Cross Of course I am biased...so I will try not to go over board here! She is signed to play softball at James Madison. She has been one of the leading hitters in the area for a while. The last couple of years she has hit at about a .600 clip and had 13 homers in about 100 ab's. She should be around 20 HR's for her career....Her calling card in travel ball and for college is her defense. I think if you asked people that are familier with her in the higher levels of softball they would say she is one of the better defensive short stops in the country.

 

Unsure of this young lady's name but Beechwoods short stop is someone who has stood out to me. I like her game, she seems to make plays for her team and has hit well in the games I have saw.

Madyson is no brainer on this list as is Dallis Knotts from Boone. She's like a spider monkey on the field.

Agree. Moran, Knotts and Smith would be my top three in the 9th. Although how much SS will Knotts and Smith be playing this year. I would assume that both will be pitching the majority of games this year for their respective teams.

Regardless of how some misguided coaches vote, she is the best player in NKY, PERIOD. And has been for 2-3 years in my opinion.

Haley Coffey is solid on defense and coming along great with her bat. Being only a freshmen she has plenty of time to grow and get better.

NewCath So. Shortstop Michaela Ware (.371, .456 OBP, 30 H, 22 R, 2 3B, 11 RBI). She makes plays that you wouldn't think could be made, isn't afraid to get dirty, and has above average speed.

How about Cooper's SS, Willett? I understand she is going to Transy but to be honest, I have never seen her play.

Completely forgot about Willett. My apologies. I would include her in with the top SS in the 9th region. The two girls mentioned from Highlands and NewCath are both young but very good. They are up and coming players to keep your eyes on.

in the short time I have spent with Dallis, I think she is an outstanding SS....very smooth and unflappable....looking forward to keeping up with her and Haley this spring on BGP.

From outside the 9th you have Brooke Dossett- Gallatin County, who can really play. Spent several years with the Sluggers but since has decided to focus more on basketball but is still a very good HS player.
