Beechwood is young and scrappy. I've seen the Meyer kid pitch, who I believe is an 8th grader. He does a very good job with lots of potential. The kid that pitched against Highlands also did a very good job. His pitch count was high but he didn't seem to tire. I really liked Beechwood's catcher. He has a strong arm for a 7th grader. He also has a lot of potential.

Yes, CovCath won 6-1 in a well played game. It lasted 1:45. It was a fun game to watch.

Baby Birds can relate to that! I'm still excited about Highlands Frosh baseball team because we still have not had a complete game. I'm not sure it's going to happen but watch out if it does.

It's impossible to keep up with High School Freshman baseball scores and season records. So, my opinion is based on how they played against Highlands. Cooper beat us twice but they didn't impress me like SK and CovCath. Now saying that, Cooper has a very good squad.

1. CovCath 2. SK 3. Cooper 4. Brossart 5. ??? Conner just beat Brossart 9-6 on Saturday. I haven't seen Conner or Dixie. This topic would be a good thread.

Dixie is getting into pretty good groove. They beat BC and pushed Cooper and I consider Cooper top 5 team. Good luck rest of the year.

I'm taking the Breds by 3. I'm guessing that Brian Dill will pitch for Bellevue.

SK had a good weekend. They shutout the Baby Birds Friday night 11-0. Put up an 8 spot in top of the 6th to break it open. They are a well coached team.

Drew Rom started on the bump and went 4 innings. Sam Hennigan finished the final 3 innings. Both pitched well. It's nice only using 2 arms in a 7 inning game. Baby Birds had plenty of opportunity to score runs but did not capitalize. We had too many mistakes in the running game. Kudos to BW defense. They made plays when needed. I believe they threw out 3 -4 runners at the plate.

Congrats to the Camels on their 1st win. I thought they hit the ball well and played over all a very good game. Tough lose for the Baby Birds! Hopefully, they learned a lot from this game. You have to stay loose and make plays all 7 innings. Morgan Race started on the bump and went 4 innings. Hunter Dreves came in relief and lasted 2 1/3 innings and Sam Hennigan finished. The defense is much improved and getting better every game. They have cut down on errors and mistakes. By the end of year, this team should be exciting to watch.

Mustangs advance 10-0 on the year! They are having a great year so far.

Baby Birds top Cincy St. X 10-9 in 7 innings. Birds fought back and scratch 2 runs in the top of the 7th to take the lead. Exciting game to watch. Drew Rom started on the hump and Matt Schoellman finished. Both pitched very good. Parker Smith had the hot bat. He was spraying the ball everywhere. S/O to the Baby Birds outfield! They made the difference in a hard fought game.

I missed the game but this is what I got. Rob Gabbard started on the hump and went 4 innings. Hunter Dreves came in relief and Sam Hennigan closed. All 3 8th graders at HMS. Birds need to cut down on errors. You can't win games when you consistently have 5 or more errors. I heard Runion had another good game. Hopefully somebody who was there can give a full report.

This is a good win for the Baby Birds. Matt Schoellman started and went 3 innings allowing 4 runs but not all of them earned. He was just missing with his breaking ball. Kyle Rust pitched 4 innings and allowed no runs. He was very efficient! He only threw 6 pitches in the 6th inning. Second game in a row the Birds only used 2 pitchers. Trey Bowden had a nice 2 RBI single. He stole 2nd then 3rd and advanced home on wild throw from catcher. He also had a diving catch in center field. Over all the Birds are getting quality at bats. Over all the Birds are playing good but still too many mistakes but it's still early.

Baby Breds 0-2 on the year. I don't have any details.

Rob Gabbard was the starting pitcher going 2 1/3 innings. He struggled with nerves in the 1st inning giving up 3 runs. Settled down in the 2nd. Hunter Dreves came in relief and pitched 1 2/3. He had good control and throws hard. Andy Field closed the game. I'm not sure who earned the win. Morgan Race, Carson Fitter, and Tyler Schwalbach all hit well. It was a hard game to watch! Game went 5 innings but lasted about 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Umpire had a real tough game! Supposedly it was his 1st game. It was hard to follow the score because he kept changing his calls. He needs a lot more work. I hope I don't see him again.

Do you have a roster for the Baby Jags? I saw some familiar parents on the Jaguar side. #20 for the Baby Jags throws hard with good breaking ball.

Good game to watch. Both teams played well especially early in the season. It should be exciting to watch these two battle later in the season.
