Fans got their monies worth at Dixie this afternoon: 45 total runs, 47 hits!

No shortage of walks and accompanying errors on both teams. Congrats to the Pioneers on the sweep. Dixie drops to 4-6-1 and per the SK coach I talked to during pre-game they improve to 11-4. Weather couldn't have been more perfect. Not a cloud in the sky!

Out of curiosity, should the host freshmen team anticipate and feed the opposing teams players between the double header? Inquiring minds are trying to understand the SK faithful ...

A few observations from an SK parent:

 

1. Beautiful complex, parents fans and workers all very nice and accommodating.

2. As for feeding the kids. I have know idea of protocol but in our parent meeting we were told that all visiting teams would be fed pizza between games at the expense of the baseball booster club. As a parent we should have known in advance who was responsible because the kids can not be allowed to go unfed from 10am to 6pm. This is as much on the SK coaches as it is on Dixie. For the record just a little communication goes along way

3. 1 ump vs 2. This question was answered yesterday. The 8th region requires 2 umps at all games while the 9th only require 2 at varsity games. 9th really needs to consider changing this policy.

4. Beautiful facility, PLEASE open up the restrooms, that single port-o-let was more than ripe after the 6 hrs of games.

5. Charging a gate. we SK people are spoiled with no charge mainly because of the field set up is not conducive to be able to charge. I thought $3 was more than fair.

 

 

Like Content 1 said it was a great day for baseball and we saw a lot of it, some good some not so good. Overall a very positive experience.

Couldn't agree with you more. I'm a fan of the gesture. Just have not witnessed it for two seasons of freshmen baseball. We've always been responsible for our own kids. We went to Ryle and played a double header there a couple weeks ago and the expectation was to have lunch for our own kids. No word from Ryle on them offering to provide our kids lunch.

 

So if the expectation was that the Neers were going to be fed by their Dixie hosts. Our apologies, that discussion has never come up until yesterday afternoon.

 

As for #3 yes, two umps would be great. The director of umps coincidently was at the game and mentioned we're one of the few regions in the state that only have one ump due to a shortage. These guys make less than $60 a game and contingent upon their play calls and the crowd can get lambasted pretty good. As we saw yesterday. Thankfully from a Neer standpoint the calls didn't change the outcome of the games. It is freshmen ball and not the world series and yes these guys are human and are going to make mistakes. Just like all of us do from time to time. We fans need to keep our reactions in perspective.

 

#4, #4, and a #4 ( should have made this one #2 )…ripe doesn't begin to describe it and yes it would be great if Dixie opened up the football stadium restrooms during baseball games.

SK had a good weekend. They shutout the Baby Birds Friday night 11-0. Put up an 8 spot in top of the 6th to break it open. They are a well coached team.

Probably their most complete game of the year. They were strong in all aspects, defense,offense & pitching. They are starting to see the ball very well at the plate after being no hit a week ago.
