National rankings? Don't get ahead of yourself on this one.. I don't think RE comes off as arrogant, or as one who "bashes" anyone. He is one of the intelligent posters on the site who uses information and reason in his posts. Your post is far more aggressive and arrogant than any that I have read from RE. I haven't seen Cooper play, so I can't speak for them. However I have seen conner play several times, and I can say their return team is dynamic, as we saw Friday night when Fogle took a kick off back for a touchdown of 85 yards completely untouched. The other return man they have, Andrew Way, although not as explosive as Fogle, is more than capable of doing the exact same thing. Fogle is also Conner's punter and he is capable of 50+ yard punts. Conner has a place kicker with a huge leg and is also very accurate. I have seen him kick 40+ yarders with ease during warm ups. Special teams could play a big role this Friday. I don't think a single person in their right mind would ever compare the two. Barker is far and away a better QB than the other mentioned here. One has made a name for himself, the other however, got the attention from the name made by his father.

That is my question as well. All I have heard is how good Cooper is, but they are very thin. Will the Cooper defense be able to run with the skill players for Conner all 4 quarters with so many playing both ways? I don't think many conner players play both sides of the ball The ones that do are frequently subbed in and out so they stay fresh. Should be an interesting match up, and a very good game. Yes you make perfect sense.. And I was just asking more or less how is the young man handling the pressure. Maybe hype was the wrong word, pressure probably seems more fitting. I have just seen some things this year that I didn't see out of him last year. Could be that the season is still relatively early, and kinks are still being worked out.. The entire conner team is feeling this pressure, with all of the talks this preseason. I think as a team they all need to just take a deep breath, relax, and just do what comes natural. Every reply to my question has put words in my mouth.. Did I say I questioned his effort? Nope. Let me get to it before someone else points it out.. I said he isn't running with the same toughness.. 1st I did not say he is awful.. Open your eyes and read 2nd I placed a question mark behind the 7 indicating I was unsure, again open your eyes and read. 3rd I stated a few times, my question was not based on numbers, it was based on me seeing a difference in his play from this year and last. Not sure what you mean (full disclosure to you) but my question wasn't based on INT's.. It was a simple question based on watching a player last year, and this year. I notice a difference, and asked a question/made a statement, however you want to put it. Like he is possibly trying too hard to show people he's deserving? Rather than simply being loose and doing what is natural to him.. There was nothing negative meant by my post. I wasn't trying to hurt anyone's feelings. And I'll say it again.. Barker is a very good QB, and I am not saying that he doesn't deserve the things he is getting

What do you mean hype and attention? You are clearly involved in NKY sports, and follow many of the players around the area. You know the hype and attention I am talking about. The Elite 11, the scholarship offers, the national rankings as a pro style QB, You cannot open a newspaper, read the blogs online, or come anywhere near something related to Conner without hearing about it.. That is alot to put on a young kid's shoulders, and I am not saying he isn't deserving, my point is that it is a lot for a kid to handle, and I am wondering if it has gotten to him a bit.

It's not always about numbers. Example: A player could pass 8-10 but if the two passes that are incomplete are picks that go back for touchdowns, that is bad. Yes the completion percentage looks good at 80%, but it also puts the team down 14pts. Again, Nothing against Barker, he is a very good QB, and will only get better. I assume, as a junior, he's only 15-16 years old. Plenty of time to sharpen all the skills needed..

I was not talking about the yardage totals, no question he is a major threat to run the ball. It just seems that there is less urgency in the runs than a year ago. And I agree picks are going to happen, but again, it's the manner in which they are happening. Balls are being forced into triple coverages, throws are coming off his back foot, and being lofted in the air, at times looking like a jump ball. Nothing against Barker, he is a very good QB, my only question was that from the outside looking in, it seems like the hype and attention he has gotten may be having some effect on him.

After watching the last three games played by Conner, I have a couple of thoughts on this game.. I am beginning to wonder if the "hype" is getting into Barker's head? He has made multiple terrible decisions, thrown 7 (?) INT's, and doesn't seem to be running the ball with the toughness he did a year ago. The Conner D needs to step their game up about 5 notches if they want to be successful as a team. They cannont expect to score 50+ points in every game. Cooper seems to have a very good team, and I would imagine most folks will deem them the favorite in this game. Conner is highly explosive, and although I haven't seen Cooper play, I have read they seem to be a little "thin" in the depth chart, will they be able to score with Conner? There could be another shoot out in Hebron next Friday night. Conner has a dynomite playmaker in Fogle, and Barker is capable of picking a Defense apart, because his line is giving him ample time. What does Cooper have to counter these two? I know the Collins kid is a tough runner, and they have a good QB, whos name has slipped my mind at the moment. This one should be exciting to watch.
