This whole thing is really a radical change in coarse for Ryle after having both Colerain and Highlands on the schedule this year. Perhaps the realities of the available talent have sunk in. And to be clear, this is not a shot at Ryle, just a given reality of the dilution of talent resulting from two relatively new programs on both of Ryle's borders.

My understanding is that the Lexington area middle schools feed into multiple High Schools. This makes it very difficult for the High School programs to engage with those programs. Before Ryle and Cooper started their programs, this is the way it worked in Boone County as well. Up until about three years ago, there was almost no engagement of the High Schools with the middle school programs at all.

Don't see Scott Co. here. Don't the Birds owe the Cardinals a return trip? That is a series with competitive potential.

Yeah, Travis Elliot got hurt, then graduated. I don't think HHS is going to find much competition in NKy 6A. I really like the match up with Scott Co. though. I think that series has the potential to be competitive.

Scott County is an upgrade to the schedule. Is that series continuing?

PC is playing an independent schedule next year.

Then explain to me why there is not a single athlete comparable to Nussbaum in our entire district, or in Lexington either, except Scott, which probably has about 6 athletes as good as or better than Nussbaum?

T and X are probably 4 td better than Scott, which is really scary because Scott has about the best circumstances a public program could want. Enrollment size, no competition for athletes, etc.

VOR, this is not a Simon Kenton phenomenah. Ryle, Boone, Dixie, CC all have similar issues. In Lexington, Clay , Dunbar and BS have similar issues and they have even HIGHER enrollments than NKy 6A. Are you going to tell me that all of the coaching staffs of all these schools are deficient?

BS also lost to Clay, who lost to Ryle.

Absolute RUBBISH! All you have to do is look at the sidelines of the SC SK game last Friday. SC had a half dozen athletes capable of reaching state in track. Absolutely no comparison what so ever. There are 7 HS programs in Kenton County and 1 in Scott. That is the difference!!!! The athletes you speak of DO NOT EXIST and you are speaking PURE MANURE. Ryle and Dixie are in the same boat as SK. The talent pool is simply to diluted. Lexington 6A, with the exception of Scott is similar. Only in Louisville are the 6A schools consistently competitive.

I believe St. Henry is Kenton County, but they do not play football so they don't need to be part of the discussion. I believe Boone is the more populous county than Kenton. Here is a listing of programs by County : Boone: Cooper, Conner, Ryle, BC Kenton : SK, Dixie, Scott, Beechwood, Cov Cath, Holy Cross, Holmes. Thats 7 schools in Kenton County with Football programs. That is serious dilution of talent!

No way Dunbar beats Campbell. If SK's QB does not show up, no way SK beats Bryan Station.

Imagine if Boone or Kenton County still had only one High School? Furthermore, imagine if we did not have Cov Cath and Beechwood down the street from us? When there is no competition for talent, enrollment size becomes more significant.

We are conceding excellence for participation. High School sports are for the kids, and not us as fans. And as such, I'm ok with that.

I'm not aware of SK losing any players to HHS. I bet CC has lost plenty though. Scott County is pretty rural and isolated from the Lexington area schools. It is what Kenton Co. would be if there was only one High School. Scott has the enrollment of SK and Dixie combined and no one there to compete with. Now, if you are not competing for your own talent, enrollment becomes more significant.

Does success in football drive increased revenue in independent school programs? Do you think tuition enrollments would be as high if football did not exist? Would the same level of donations be there if football did not exist?

The bottom line is that enrollment does matter, does influence success, but it is way too small an influence to be used to classify programs.

Not necessarily. You could rent an apartment in Colerain's district, then commute once residency is established!

Having been a sacrificial lamb to Trinity last year, I would ask you out of respect to GRC and their kids, parents and coaches, don't do this!

Scott County does it because there is no other HS within 20 miles. Therefore, there is no competition for athletes. They intentionally avoid building a second school for athletic purposes. If I had stud, I would move across the river to play REAL football!

Does SC have any US senators send their grandchildren there to play football? How about sons of NFL hall of famers??? Proximity to an urban center is a major factor.
