Actually, as a whole, head football football coaching in NKy is remarkably stable. As a community, I don't believe we appreciate how stable coaching is in this area. The only change I can recall last year, was Dixie. I understand other areas of the state, football coaching is a lot less stable. I have a friend who is an alum of Bryan Station, and tells me they have had 3 head coaches in 7 years. Count your blessings if you have stable coaching, and do not take it for granted!

You might not remember, but we did play one program named St. X in the preseason. Much better test than any of the programs you cited.

We did. They earned it themselves. Perhaps your program needs to look inward to deal with its underage alcohol consumption problem. Trust me, any time anybody even mentions the name Beechwood, this will be brought up. We don't have football parents serving alcohol to players. Clean up your own house before passing judgement on others! We have no concerns about losing players to BW ever again!!!!! We look forward to the very public prosecution of the parents involved!!

The only year that is relevent is last year after a 2-9 campaign. Two years ago you throw out because we were regional finalist then as well. Last year alone, we lost 11 kids after a 2-9 campaign.

I always appreciate that within our district , we respect each other and don't harbor any grudges. We are all county school districts that have similar dynamics and challenges.

Scott is a big play team. Not only on offense, but on special teams as well. They are very athletic, and quite frankly a lot more talented than SK on both sides of the ball. SK is however, a lot bigger on offense and will be quite capable of running on this team. For SK to be competitive, they will have to reduce the number of possessions by controlling the ball on offense. They will need to convert 4th downs. They will have to give themselves extra possessions by recovering on sides kicks. They will have to avoid turnovers. I have seen enough big plays from Scott's special teams, in person and on tape to convince me not to kick to them. I kick on side kicks, I run fake punts and if I do punt, I do it from a drop kick formation. Scott's offense is going to score. I do everything I can to keep it off the field. Scott County has been blowing their competition off the field. They have not played any close games. If SK can keep the game close late in the game, Scott will feel the pressure of being the heavy favorite. Also, there may be opportunity if Scott looks past SK to Trinity.

The problem with that approach is that when you experience a 2-8 or 3-7 season, you lose kids to the programs the present the easy path to titles. They don't get the big picture. A good record is necessary for retention. Much easier to grab the coat tails of previous generations, rather than blaze the trails yourself!

For this particular SK team, building confidence early in the year was more important than going up against rigorous competition. We are the last of our district to still be playing and continuing the SOS arguments , when the results on the field dictate otherwise, is absurd and spiteful.

Amen, Hallelujah! Unfortunately, the object of the bashing goes beyond the poster onto the program itself, where I for one, feel compelled to get very defensive.

With 4 SEC openings, Charlie Strong is going to be a HOT commodity. I wonder if that affects the decision making?

My kid just came home with straight As, having played in 12 Varsity football games, starting in 8 of them. He enjoys playing for a stable, passionate coaching staff that drives him to be the best. He also enjoys the benefits of an extremely supportive booster group and rabid fan base. In addition, he enjoys playing and practicing in a modern stadium, with a state of the art conditioning center and INDOOR practice facility. Other than that, he hates it. Why would someone want to go to Highlands?????

Agree on the latter, not the former.

They transfer because of largely selfish interests. Easy paths to 1A championships. Why stick around SK and grind it out when you can bail and go into a 1A playoff where there is no competition until the state semifinals. There are also those that bash our coaching like the selfish juveniles they are.

I am talking about SK's schedule THIS YEAR, not SOS in general.

SOS only helps if your program if it is in a position to compete. Did scheduling Colerain and Highlands help Ryle? Did Boone scheduling all those JC schools and Cov. Cath help them get better? No. Over scheduling led to demoralization and eroded fan support in both programs. SK has overachieved this year by improving while cultivating confidence.

Jefferson County schools are almost all urban high schools with, shall we say, more diverse student populations than the "White Flight" suburbs we have in NKy. It would be more appropriate to compare Jefferson Co schools with schools inside the 275 loop of Cincinnati.

Yeah, it made Ryle so hungry they canceled their series with Highlands and I know the answer at Boone, and it not the answer you think it is. I have been inside Boone's program and I know exactly where they are!

At the beginning of the year, SK was not a very good team. Coming off a 2-9 campaign, and with LOW confidence , playing a brutal schedule would have destroyed confidence. The poster children for brutal scheduling without having the team to compete are Boone and Ryle. I disagree with the assertion that lower class teams are inferior opponents. Acceptance of open enrollment and transfer athletes levels the playing field, especially when you consider that those players are originally from those higher class schools. If the point of preseason scheduling is to prepare you for the playoff season, by continuing to argue SK's pre season schedule was flawed is disputing the results on the field. Results on the field trump the opinions of a collection of arm chair quarterbacks!

Chip Kelly at Oregon uses similar statistics and has been extremely successful. If Oregon wins the BCS title this year, Kelly will putting his decision making, backed by statistical probability, to the test in the NFL. Even in our games, the average starting field position for an opponent is between the 35 and 45 yard line. So if you onside kick and don't recover, what are you really risking? About 5 -10 yards of field position, that's all. Of coarse, if do recover, that is a pretty significant reward.
