Prince Avenue Christian 43 North Cobb Christian 0 It may have been a costly win though. Prince Avenue lost their starting QB Jake Bobo (son of Georgia OC Mike Bobo) to a concussion in the First Half and also lost Sophomore phenom and future All-American RB Andrew Beard hurt his ankle and did not return. They also had a scare when the backup QB got dinged up in the 3rd Quarter resulting in my nephew who is a WR and the emergency QB to have to enter the game at QB. Luckily he only had to play one play (a 36 yard scramble) before the backup was able to return. Prince advances to the Georgia Private School State Finals to play Hebron Christian. Prince defeated Hebron 34-31 at Hebron in the regular season. Prince’s losses were to Mallard Creek NC (who beat Moeller), Blessed Trinity, and Westside SC. Mallard Creek was eliminated in the Quarterfinals of NCs biggest classification. Blessed Trinity lost to unbeaten North Oconee Friday in the 4A semifinals. Westside remains undefeated in the SC 5A playoff and play in the State Championship next weekend.

Too many dudes! CAL is a powerhouse. Johnson played his heart out, 239 all-purpose yards, 2 TD's plus a 72 yard Pick 6. Union needed about three Johnson's to beat CAL though.

This probably be the most painful Raceland finals loss. Raceland was in position to win this game today and just had the wrong decisions or wrong execution at the worst possible times. Huge shoutout to Pennington and Sayre. Ten years ago people probably would laugh at you to suggest Sayre would be a State Champion football program.

I like this a lot. He has done a great job of taking programs at a low point and leaving them off better. Danville fans I ask you to be patient. This will take some time but Stonebreaker should build something closer to Danville standards if he is given the freedom to work.

Likewise.. when I feel the game is close I tend to side with the team with the most guys capable to changing the scoreboard on one single play. I feel like Sayre has two of those guys that Raceland doesn't have.

Franklin County is very good but Tilghman just has those guys who can change the game on any given snap. I like the confidence and athleticism of this Tilghman team.

Pulling for Raceland to get it done but my head says Sayre wins a low scoring game.

Tilghman is a very good football team! Tilghman took a punch from Corbin, settled down, adjusted, and just did their thing.

Prince Avenue defeats Savannah Calvary Day 61-39 to advance to the Georgia Private State Semi-Finals. They will face North Cobb Christian at home after North Cobb upset previously undefeated Savannah Christian.

Don't get me mistaken, as I mentioned in the prediction thread I see a lot more circumstances where CAL blows Union County out rather than Union staying close or even winning close... Just simply stating that Union pleasantly surprised me and are the only other 3A team I can see even having those type of scenarios. Johnson is a special player... but CAL is simply playing on a different stratosphere than any other 3A program. I think there is a higher likelihood of seeing Johnson with a stat line of 30+ carries for under 130 yards... but this guy is also capable of turning a six yard gain into sixty on any team in Kentucky if one assignment is missed or one tackle is missed.

On a different note: How in the H-E-Double Hockey sticks did Union County lose to Madisonville and Murray?!?!?!

Union can beat CAL but it will take a perfect performance if CAL plays well. Union has big play ability and I really came away very impressed with Coach Johns’ and his staff’s preparation and play calling. They mix up looks well and find creative ways to get the ball into playmakers hands. Union actually beat Belfry without playing an overly clean game. Their linemen got called for six or seven holds when Johnson would bounce the play. They had a couple other penalties as well on defense as well. Simply put, if they commit those penalties against CAL they won’t have the same margin of error. I see more scenarios where CAL wins this is in dominant fashion then I see Union pulling out a close win. With that said, Johnson is that man. He is filthy good and is a scoring threat anytime the ball is in his fingers. I am pulling for the new blood to make history but my realistic prediction: CAL 38 Union 21

They are probably the only team outside of Central with a chance in 3A. Johnson is every bit the ball carrier Cortez Stone except with the ability to impact the game in more ways. They have two or three other big play threats and a quality offensive line. Where CAL has them up against the ropes is their defense isn’t exactly lock down capable and their line has a bad habit of holding when Johnson bounces it. They overcame six or seven holding calls last night against a pretty sketchy Belfry defense but that won’t work against CAL.

Braves dominated! Excellent display as I was very impressed with all aspects of this Union team. Johnson had a great game and added a pair of interception on defense. Union probably had six or seven holding calls and still overcame them time and time again. Excellent game plan and excellent coaching as their OLine dominated Belfry. For Belfry, they move to 2A and return 19 of their 22 starters. This night belongs to a special Union team making history!
