NKY Girls Basketball Association Coaches Awards
Honestly, I am not sure on that. Someone may be able to clarify, but I am sure it has to do with the size of school. I know I am stating the obvious. That's all I got though.

NKY Girls Basketball Association Coaches Awards
This is not a NKAC conference recognition and I don't think it is actually called an "all tournament" team. This list or "team" is made from the votes of members/coaches of the Northern Kentucky Girls Basketball Coaches Association. From what I understand all NKY schools including some that are not in the NKAC are a part of this association. After the season, they put on a very nice banquet to recognize these players and give them their award. It is first class. Well done with great food. It is a pretty cool way to promote NKY girls basketball.

Highlands 56 Simon Kenton 34
Originally, the district games were scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday. I have heard that those will be pushed back at least one day to Wednesday and Friday. SK should still get at least a couple of days (Monday, Tuesday) to prepare for Grant. At least SK got on the court last night. All the other district teams have not played since the 13th or the 14th. Not saying that is an advantage at all. I am only saying all the teams will be in the same boat with not having played or only having a couple of practices.

This is funny. The 8th region refs getting blamed even for this one. Man have they built a reputation. :lol2:

Simon Kenton @ Highlands updates
Congrats to the Birds on the win. I thought this game would be a little closer. I assume not having Meier made some difference. Was Coffey back for Highlands? If so, that was a big lift for Highlands, getting their point guard back. When is Meier expected to return for SK?

Best of the 9th Region
The ninth is talented, but is also top heavy. Sure, the top 3 teams in the 9th are very strong and very deep, however there are several teams that are not very deep at all. A player shoe horned as a "role player" because they are on a "deep" team, that has potential to be a "go to", would not have to go out of the ninth at all. There are "many other" teams within your own region where they could go and be put in a larger role and asked to carry a bigger load. My problem with saying "other regions" is that there are talented deep teams in other regions also. Likely, those players find the same role, again, unless they went to one of the less deep teams in that region also. I will also say this, some times a "role player" looks to have more potential because of the talent depth around them. You take them away from the talent, and put them in a place where there is no help, then perhaps their overall game and numbers go down. I do get what you are saying, but I don't think just switching regions would bring an automatic change.

8th Region Rebound Leaders
Morgan Simpson - 5th in rebounds and tied for 9th in scoring. Top ten in both categories = All Region in my book! :ylsuper:

Best of the 9th Region
Personally, I like what a lot of you have posted. DG21, I especially like your COY. Whether its right or not, I don't know, but no one hardly ever gets more than two players from one team voted on a all region team, unless your say...E'town. Because of that, I am guessing, the actual list will look something like this. (The players below POY are not in any particular order) Turner-HC (POY) Mayhaus-HC Graves-HHS Adler-HHS Tubbs-Holmes Harris-Holmes Davenport-NCC Ware-NCC Switzer-Boone Tibbs-Dixie Held-Cooper Schwartz-Ryle Johnson-Beechwood Worford-Ludlow Neace-St Henry Stoll - COY I think if any team does get three, it will probably be Holy Cross with McClendon....(please don't shoot me ) If its like all the other all region teams, some very good players that have played at a high level this year will slip through the cracks. And who out there has the actual list. Someone does.

Great work on the list Bball Rocks! :thumb:

All 8th Region Team
She is certainly another one.

All 8th Region Team
I will. I will. Morgan Simpson - Walton Verona. Has had a tremendous season against one of the more difficult schedules in the 8th region. At least the most road games! Rachel Montgomery - Williamstown. Also has had a tremendous season and Williamstown has arguably played a harder schedule than Trimble and Henry. These are just two that really jump out at me from this part of the region. There could be more. Before someone gets on me...I am not taking anything away from any player that received the honor. I am only giving props to a couple of players that I think have proven to fit right in this list of players and have probably just slipped through the cracks.

All 8th Region Team
That was cool. You posted my comment before I got done changing my wording. Guess I gotta be quicker. Anyway, I agree with that about not having seen every team in the region play. I know I certainly haven't. And I am sure most of the coaches voting haven't either. No big deal. It's still for the most part, features the top talent on the 8th.

All 8th Region Team
I'm with ya. I'll admit, my best 15 would be just a little different also. I'm not going to complain though, there's a lot of talent in the 8th!
-
All 8th Region Team
I'm pretty sure the 8th is the same way. I think that coaches voting, but not for their own is for the most part going to give a pretty "real" list of the regions top players for the season. Certainly there are other players that could make a case to honored on this list, (there is one I think should be on it) but at the end of the day it's the coaches vote.

All 8th Region Team
And let me add to your question.... Does anyone know when this was supposed to get released for press? Maybe it already has, but I am willing to bet it has leaked out on BGP, before it has been officially released. I could be wrong though.

All 8th Region Team
Congratulations to a great group of ball players! And Congrats to Coach Stowers and all the coaches at SK!

Simon Kenton 65 Campbell County 59
Congratulations to the Pioneers for getting back in the win column. That was cool that they got a chance to avenge their loss. That usually doesn't happen. I assume Meier was still out for this one along with the one girl from Campbell. Hopefully both school can get their players back before districts.

I see your point, but actually sometimes girls basketball resembles it a little bit. The amount of concussions I have heard of the last couple of years has been crazy. Girls need to wear helmets.

Gallatin County's Hannah Dossett named 8th Region Player of the Year
Congratulations to Hannah Dossett! It is absolutely well deserved. Tremendous athlete and young lady. Put up some very good numbers. Led her team to do more than what most thought Gallatin would do this year. And she is certainly next in line of some very good 8th region basketball players the last few years. Again...Congrats!

Simon Kenton/Campbell County Predictions 2/14
I am aware that there are some great peeps and families out in Pioneer land. I promise you, one or two "apples" won't ruin it for me or make me have any ill will toward the kids and families I know. :thumb:

Highlands 69 Walton Verona 50
Highlands comes out making crispy nets in Walton, hitting 6 of 8 from 3 land in the first quarter. They build a comfy lead and never look back. Walton buckled down, started to chip away, but the early hole was too big to overcome. Highlands is a very quality basketball team. Hopefully Coffey can get back and healthy soon! There is no doubt Highlands misses her and they are better with her on the floor. I will be honest though, with all the ball handlers and shooters on that team, the Birds still did great tonight, even without her. Walton will be fine. They were missing 2 girls of their own tonight with concussions (DeZarn and Beckham). They will get them back soon and they will be set to finish strong. :ylsuper: Caoch Clinkenbeard had to miss this one also for a much more important funeral for his father in law. If you would, please say a prayer for that family. They are special people.

Simon Kenton/Campbell County Predictions 2/14
Um, if posting something with no evidence is a "crime" that demands apologizing, Your going to require yourself to apologize to a lot of folks. Are you sure you want to put yourself under that law? And You actually have a great idea. Since you brought on this deal with your initial comment about ZERO handchecks, and you have access to all of SK's video, why don't you post video to prove your initial statement? Then we can worry about who apologizes to who. You go first, since your comment was first. Fair enough.

Simon Kenton/Campbell County Predictions 2/14
I will go on a limb and pick SK in this one, only because they are at home, but for some strange reason I am starting to really want Campbell to win again. :lol2:
