I have heard nothing but good things about the guy they have hired. I'm not sure on his amount of experience. Does anyone know his resume?

This is a very good offense. Do they have the guys to run it effectively? They didn't seem to throw the ball much based on their statistics.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what the Admirals will have this coming season? What can we expect from the offense and defense? The second year in a program for a head coach is the year that shows the most improvement. This will be the year that Clevenger will have his name on the program extensively. What can we expect? Thoughts?

What coaches would that be? Their own staff or outsiders that were not in the locker room?

I get that part but you actually indicated several quality applicants etc as though you know who has applied? It just sounded like you are seeing the applications as they come in. No harm no foul.

If you know this you must work in the front office. The committee hasn't even reviewed the applicants yet. Where are you getting this info?

If they want Perry they could have already hired him. There is no requirement for committees to be involved. That is a fact. I know coaches mentioned in this very thread topic that were hired without anyone interviewing them except the Principal. The teaching job came later with the same process. If the principal is trusted as being competent enough it should be done this way imo because the coach has to work directly with that principal in the daily operations of school. Sometimes the principals at these schools admittedly don't know enough to make the right hire so they form big committees to give input. The negative on that is that the water can get muddied on what to do. This also gives the principal others they can shift blame to if there is political fallout from the hire. It can be done and should have already IMO. If GCHS is serious about making this happen then pull the trigger. The lack of movement says to me that someone is either not truly wanting JP or they are afraid to do the things it will take imo.

I hear that they are going to double the salary? Has anyone else heard this?

That's good info. HD. Thanks. I have heard there is a new very successful head coach now interested. I promised my source I would not give up the name. So I have to keep that to myself. I just wanted let you guys/gals know at least that much.

I've heard that Jaggers has an incredible set up at Larue county so why would he want to make a lateral jump? Hodge is in the same position so why leave a tremendous set up there? Just curious.

So sad to hear this. A coach with a strong will to succeed and do it their way is often labeled in a negative way by people that want it to be the way it has always been. That type of thinking is why Hodge or Perry would have some struggles as the HC at Garrard. On the other hand if the Super. is as good as some people are saying maybe he will demand the best coach is brought in and given what they want and need to stay the long haul and be successful.

There is someone that does and that is a fact. It must be personal. Can anyone shed anymore light on the situation? What I have heard is that it goes back some years but it seems like everyone that didn't hire him last time are gone?

I don't get the comparison of the two sets of coaches? Hodge has been tremendous in two years. Perry was (while at GCHS) and is one of the top coaches around.

Stoney's record has been pretty rough at Woodford. What has been the problem over there?

I just found out 2 of these guys have already been interviewed informally.

From what I hear Doug is pretty happy at FS and would not be interested. But I know he and the principal are friends and former assistants together at GCHS. I think Perry would be a grand slam. I also would think John Hodge would have been the first phone call made. Why is Hodge not wanted (if that is the case)? Hometown guy and one of the best young coaches out there!

His Bullitt East team came within a two point conversion of winning the 08 state championship of 4A against the greatest Bell Co. team ever. He led Franklin-Simpson to the Regional Championship this year. Lost a close one to Owensboro.

Doug Preston announced as new head football coach. Same guy who led Bullitt East to state championship a couple of years ago. This will be a very good match for school and coach Preston.

No. I don't think the only good coaches are the ones that have won a title. Also, I agree there are many other things that go into being a good high school coach. Are you going to answer my other two questions: Who had the 1-10 season? Who was his signature win against. Those are two good questions. Just curious.

No disrespect intended and I hate to bust your bubble but there are many coaches that do those basic things everyday. You would have to ask what level of competition his teams are actually defeating? What would you say his signatue win has been to this point? Also, was that 1-10 team his or the guy he took over for? Good luck to coach in his pursuit of the job if he wants it.
