I give zero credence to the score. If you are up 48+, those kids deserve a chance to achieve success. As long as the backups are in, let them have the chance to do what they do. And if the opponent wants to onside kick, then so be it. As a coaching staff, and as a backup player, treat every play like it matters. Because at some point it will!

Isn't every play a teaching moment? If I'm Dale, I'm thankful somebody tried to onside kick. It gives my kids a chance to prepare for it. Your trying to win a state championship, not run out the clock!!!

I have no issue with it at all. If you recall, HHS onside kicked against Holmes last week knowing the game would never be in question. Obviously you have never coached. As a coach, you try to take advantage of all situations, and prepare your kids to do things that put them in the position to succeed. The onside kick was an advantage to both teams. You learn how to prepare for it and how to defend it. No matter what the score!!!

A coach doesn't have to have talent to win. Schemes win. It is the same at every level.

If Towles, Hightchew and Pike are all vying for your starting QB position, who is it???

Don't get me wrong, talent does help. But coaches win every year without top level talent. Out of the 12 teams that made the finals last year, there were only 18 kids that were on the All-State team. That is less than 2 per team. Coaches develop schemes, and that is what wins.

Highlands names the score. Holmes will be the best quality opponent in the last 3 weeks since Cov Cath, but it will still be a 50 point game.

Are you kidding!!! Great coaches don't always have talent. Great coaches are great coaches because they get the most out of the talent they have. Schools that win don't always have the most talent on the field. They win because their coaches put them in the best possible position to succeed!!
